Babin Out 2-3 Weeks

After finally having an MRI done on Tuesday morning, reports show that Jason Babin’s injury may be a little more serious than we thought. The MRI revealed that the mild calf strain we thought he had is really a Grade 2 muscle strain, which is characterized by a small tear in the muscle and some bleeding.

Babin, the Eagles’ defensive end, was injured at training camp last Saturday during 1-on-1 drills. He is expected to be out 2 to 3 weeks, but sources say that since the strain is on the leg he uses to push off on when the ball is snapped, he may need more time to heal.

Last season the Kalamazoo native posted career highs in both sacks and forced fumbles. His All-Pro selection last year in addition to his two Pro Bowl selections are mere a testament to how valuable Babin is to the Eagles’ defense.

In his absence, however, 2010 first-round pick Brandon Graham has done well in his reps with the first string defense. Since Babin will probably miss the entire preseason, Graham will start in his place.

Not to harp on the past, but isn’t this the same Jason Babin who wanted to run with the bulls in Spain last month? Although this injury is just a mild bump in the road, I couldn’t fathom what brutality Babin would have been subjected to by running with an 800 pound mammoth. With that being said, I hope Babin has a speedy recovery.

Wish BAbin a speedy recovery and he is going to need it fr DEs’ Graham,Hunt an Curry are all coming on and working to take his place.. I believe this will be Babin’s final Season as an Eagles as he is still too one-dimensional and is extremely weak versus the Rush/Running game.. teams like the Steelers,Ravens will pound hthe ball with double TE sets all game long his end during the regular season..OLB Kendricks better bring his hard hat that game for that’s where teams will attack this Eagle Defense and right at Babin when he returns

Doesnt Babin play the opposite side as Kendrick? Rolle or Chaney better bring thier hard hats. But seriously with Jenkins moving to end in camp I think the Eagles are positioning themselves to be able to stop the run alot better this year.

Typically the TE’s line-up outside the RT to the QB’s right since most of QB’s are right-handed making the OLB playing outside of Babin listed as as the the “Strong-side LB” in Eagle terms..

Dag, Kendrick is the SSLB, he plays behind Babin. Rolle is the WILL, & plays behind Cole. This is Graham’s opportunity to show what he has, if anything. Can’t wait until next weeks game. It should be fun to see what the new guys have.
