Reid and Vick Are Asked About The Quarterback Position

Both Andy Reid and Michael Vick talked to the media yesterday, but I don’t think everything they said was the total truth.  Check out the following statements and tell me which ones are true and which ones aren’t.

Reid was asked about the comments he made on Monday about Vick and the quarterback position.

“Well, it was the way that it was interpreted”, Reid said. “That’s not what I had in mind. [Eagles director of football media services] Derek [Boyko] explained to me how it was interpreted and so, I’ve talked to Mike, made sure I mentioned it on my radio show. You guys are very good at what you do, so I [want to] make sure we clarify it. Bad semantics there.”

Is he serious?  Does he expect us to believe that?  Reid is always very deliberate about everything he says.

Vick was asked whether he heard Reid’s comments.

“I heard it but I really don’t pay attention to what’s being said unless I hear it from Coach himself”, Vick said. “Other than that, we’ve talked about it and it’s all about me going out and getting ready for this week against New York.”

He heard the comments but doesn’t pay attention to them unless he hears it directly from the coach.

Vick was asked if he and the team have had any problem with blitz recognition.

“We had no trouble with blitz recognition”, Vick said. “Everything is good with our offense. Everything is in sync. Everything is intact. We just have to get better. [If] we eliminate the turnovers and start fast [then] we give ourselves a chance to win games.”

I don’t know how he could give that answer with a straight face.  Teams have been having major success against the Eagles offense by blitzing them.  The Giants will be coming after them on Sunday night.

Reid was asked about problems with blitz recognition, specially recognizing blitzes involving defensive backs.

“I’m sure you’re talking about the one before half and that was a mishap. The rest of it, he actually had some nice checks in there and did a nice job with several of the plays.”

After the game, Vick said he saw Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes coming off the left corner on a blitz, but the truth of the matter is he didn’t see him because he got blindsided by Rhodes and never reacted to the hit because it was a surprise.  I think this inability to see these blitzes could cost him his job.

Now after checking out what both of them had to say, which one was more honest in answering those questions.

Marcus Vick has a better chance of being hired to take over Garrett Reid’s Lehigh University weight room job with sleep over dorm privileges than Mike Vick and Andy Reid being retained next year.

@GCobb you said

“After the game, Vick said he saw Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes coming off the left corner on a blitz, but the truth of the matter is he didn’t see him because he got blindsided by Rhodes and never reacted to the hit because it was a surprise. If you are so good at what you do, you know your job…why haven’t you mentioned that Vick thought the back would be picking up the blitzer in what you describe above…Look at the play, tell me what Mccoy was doing on that play. Actually tell me what Vick really said about what he expected from his back on that play….its out there, right out of #7 mouth.

***************In fact he said it the day of the loss to AZ, did you watch the post game interviews?…but thats right you weren’t in AZ you were watching the game from you couch! Bad reporting….Anyone of us could write this article not being at the game, just like you!

How about you fix the site that has been acting up for the last 3 months!

This is absolutely ridiculous! If McNabb played like this he would have been destroyed by this town. How / why does this guy (7) get such a break? What has he done to earn it? And Reid keeps getting away with the same old “yeah, we shoulda ran it a bit more..” ???? Is the city of Philadelphia I love gone forever?

Vick is Teflon, that’s for sure. There are people out there who see him as some sort of mythical/legendary hero figure….and those myths are difficult to abandon.

Back to the screen point

Screens require patience. They’re slow developing, and require a great deal of restraint from the QB, who has to allow the rush to come to him.

Does Vick strike you as a guy who’d be good at that? No. He’s the exact opposite. Don’t you even watch the guy? He’s so herky-jerky back there….always so quick to react/overract….pressing to “make a play”

I don’t think he’s wired for the screen game.

this is about the age Allen Iverson’s superior speed and agility dissipated and he couldn’t adapt to a more tradition point guard assist making basketball player – Vick’s natural abilities seem to be aging and he is unwilling or incapable of transforming into a more game manager type leader

YoJoe Vick gets a pass by some people for the same reasons iverson got a pass… in some peope’s eyes they ‘keep it real’…. they are rebels that play it the way its played in certain places. mcnabb who was 10 times better than vick was seen as a conformist, he played it the right way (not always well) but he understood the game tried to take advantage of what the defenses gave–
as for reid– i was a big supporter until the vick decision….
as for not wired for the screen game… wow– i would think in the nfl a screen would be a no brainer….oops ‘no brainer’ thats 7!

hahahhaheeheahaha ooooooo ish! wow!

HaveNoBrain – yea and how big of a mistake was that! What have the Sixers done since Iverson? ha. I’m not even a Sixers fan and I saw the value of Iverson to the Sixers and what it meant for their future…Finally got a star after how many years? Possibly the way they dealt with Iverson left a bad taste in the mouth of star free agents? Sixers weren’t relevant for years until they got Iverson…you have no respect!

The way they treated inversion? Christ they treated him like the best AAU player ever! They didn’t hold him accountable for anything! They kissed his ass and let him do whatever he wanted! That’s my exact point!
The point with vick is certain people give him a pass because he keeps it thug! Some blast him cuz he’s a thug…. I blast him because he isn’t smart enough to read a defense and turns the ball over. As a fan I love to watch him throw… It’s amazing. I just don’t think they can win it all.. Too many mistakes
