Michael Vick Seems To Still Be The Favorite

MichaelVick8The Eagles fans broke into immediate applause when Michael Vick’s picture showed up on the jumbotron.   Clearly, Vick still has an abundance of supporters amongst the Eagles fan base. It may be fitting to assume that he has a similar level of support in the team’s locker room, especially when players like DeSean Jackson go public with their support of Vick in the quarterback competition.

Of course, winning the starting quarterback job means making plays on the field and not just a popularity contest with the fans. The job will be one by the player who convinces Chip Kelly that they give the team the best chance to win.  But after getting the chance to see the Birds in action on Sunday, Vick may still be in the driver’s seat for the job, despite numerous members of the media talking about the accuracy and poise of Nick Foles, or the way Matt Barkley has learned the offense in such a short period of time.

The Eagles coaching staff seems to believe more heavily in Vick to lead the offense, and this was evident in the amount of first-team reps he received. While Foles had his opportunities with the first team, Vick still received most of the plays with DeSean Jackson, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, and LeSean McCoy.

The coaching staff’s decision may have been for good reason. Vick seemed to be the most consistent passer on the field today. While he had a tendency to dunk the ball off to the running back or tight end a bit too frequently, he also showed impressive accuracy in one-on-one drills with DeSean Jackson and Riley Cooper. On one play, Cooper was being blanketed by the defensive back, but Vick delivered the ball beautifully into a tight window near the hip where only Cooper was able to get it.

Vick also saw many snaps in the read-option. Kelly devised various designed running plays for Vick to run, which were met with varying success levels. But it just goes to show that Kelly may view Vick as a valuable asset due to his mobility.

Foles and Barkley, on the other hand, obviously did not see any read option plays and were instead utilized in standard offensive formations. But both struggled on Sunday.

Foles threw into double coverage far too frequently. In an NFL regular season game, those may have been interceptions waiting to happen. On one play, Foles had a player open in the middle of the field but failed to deliver the ball accurately and it was knocked away by the defender. Again, in a real game that could have been picked off.

Barkley had an impressive deep pass early on, but for the rest of the day was very up and down. Both Foles and Barkley struggled when the pocket began collapsing, escaping pressure far too slowly and surely would have been sacked in a real game. Vick, on the other hand, was able to escape pressure consistently due to his mobility. On one play, he scrambled to the left and threw into the dirt towards Ifeanyi Momah. It was not a good play but at least he didn’t take the sack.

There is still plenty of training camp to be played, but so far it would seem that Vick would have the edge in the quarterback competition based both on his improved passing and his mobility.

Other Observations:

Dennis Dixon looked great on Sunday. He showed great mobility and completed a beautiful 40 yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson. Could the Eagles keep four quarterbacks this season?

Ifeanyi Momah did not generate separation as consistently as one would like to see for a player of his speed, but caught the ball fairly consistently. Let’s see if he gradually improves with more playing time.

Brent Celek dropped a lot of passes. His stone hands from last season have seemingly carried over to this offseason. He is not doing himself any favors if he wants to beat out Zach Ertz for the starting tight end job.

Donovan McNabb received an overwhelmingly positive reception when introduced with the other Eagles alumni. It looks like he need not worry about getting booed during his retirement ceremony.

Vick haters you are probably right about Vick but you guys are in such a small minority. I mean what more evidence do you need that more people support Vick than the few hundred fans and media that bash him. Every NFL networks former player believes Vick is the clear cut choice, the fans at the Linc cheered him, the coaches brought him back, the players pubicly support . This is all factual. Im not saying he is good im just saying you haters are a tiny group that really fall on deaf ears. Im not saying he is better than Foles im just saying he isnt as hated like you tiny minority display.

Well I’m saying he’s better Foles. lol

Seriously though Pads change everything. That’s been my stance and will continue to be my stance. Looking good in shorts is not important at all.

With that said it’s still early. One (okay) practice does not a starting QB make, but by Wed. I think you’ll start to see some separation between the QBs (either way) and pre-season games will really shake things out.

It’s not going to be close.

Vick 9 of 13, Foles 10 of 16, Barkley 9 of 11.

One of Vicks completions was to Harbor who ran his route early and was 10 yards offside and standing open.

The only news from yesterday was the increase in Barkley’s snaps with the first team.

What’s predictable?

From every single report except this one, both Vick and Foles were mediocre. Foles was off target, and Vick takes forever to get team lined up and also waits till guys are wide open, never anticipating (a problem he’s had his entire career)

If both the same, the only logical choice is youth.

The only interesting part of yesterday is how Barkley’s reps with the 1s seem to be increasing.

ANd, as you know…I don’t care if its Foles or Barkley…..as long as it isn’t the never-was superstar.

I guess you can see anything you want to see, Ho… But people who are paid to see things and report things saw things differently.

Per usual, Vick and Foles split reps with the first and second teams. Vick took 25 total snaps while Foles had 26. Both quarterbacks took 14 reps with the first team.

If you think the majority of fans in this town support Mike Vick that’s okay too, but you are sadly mistaken. Have you heard it said, (widely) that Chip Kelly made his first unpopular decision when he decided to keep Vick? That’s because most fans wish he was gone – which is understandable, he is 10-13 over the last two years.

Yo Ho!

Let’s read GCobb’s opinion on Vick’s popularity among fans >>

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly made an awfully unpopular decision when he took over as the Birds head coach. He decided to keep Michael Vick around. Vick has been awful the last two years with the Birds. Yes, it’s true that the Eagles offensive line was terrible in 2012, but Vick was bad in 2011 and 2012. He was a walking talking turnover machine.

Most Eagles fans thought they had seen the last Vick when Andy Reid packed his things up and left, but little did they know, Vick would remain. Kelly was criticized heavily for the decision.

And GCobb is one of Vick’s supporters – but he is not blind, like you appear to be…

I would love to see the best qb get the starting spot. I think Vick can be it with a health oline and good play calling. Vick has won many games in this league and still can, but if the coaching is just going to dial up long bombs then might as well through one of foles or Barkley in to get some playing experience. With good play calling and a lot of running plays Vick can be the guy. Kelly doesn’t strike me as a guy who relies on past history so he will change players like line changes in hockey if you are not performing.

Wow! a lot of so called fans worried more about bashing the team and players than hoping the best players get the jobs! If Vick is the best player for the Eagles QB position then so be it! if it is Foles or Barkley than so be it.

it is probably Vick because he is more talented than Foles and Barkley is a rookie so we’ll have to see what kind of NFL player he turns out to be.

At the end of the day ledoggie20 had it best if the team builds their offense around Vick rather than what Reid tried to do and force Vick into his system than they will be fine. A strong run game with real play action plays that a defense can believe you may run will do wonders for Vick.

Just think about Tebow and his success in Denver …Tebow stinks talent wise but the Broncos sure did build around what he could do versus what he could not do and they made it to the second round of the playoffs…that is what Chip Kelly will do.

Vick’s number one problem was coaching, specifically Andy Reid. Kelly is going to design an offense that plays to the strength of the QB’s and the QB on the roster with the most talent is clearly Micheal Vick. The Bias-Media, the Vick-Haters who jumped at every report that Foles was doing well in shorts are now miffed or silent when a good report about Vick comes out.
Take a deep breath, Vick haters…Micheal Vick will be the starting QB for this team this year barring injury-Bottom Line…he’s the best QB on the team!

Andy Reid ran the most QB friendly offense in the NFL. Every QB who ever played in Reid’s offense was successful – and when they went to a different team they sucked.

Reid took the worse QBs and made them look good – then he traded them for high draft picks, or they left to be starter elsewhere.

A.J. Feeley – 4-1 record traded for a 2nd round pick..
Kevin Kolb – played well, traded for a starting CB and 2nd round pick.
Jeff Garcia – 5-1 record, got a starting job in free agency.
Donovan McNabb – Great record, till he left.

Then all at once Reid gets Michael Vick and becomes the QBs biggest problem? Ha ha ha, you guys are in for a shock. Get ready to watch Alex Smith play in Reid’s offense.

Ya. Reid has pretty incredible success with QB after Qb, who all put up career #s and records under him.

Except one.

So of course Reid was the QBs biggest problem.

Before Reid Mora was his biggest problem. And before that Reves was his biggest problem. And don’t forget the 10 seasons of terrible olines. They were also the problem.

We should start taking bets on what the “problem” will be this year if Kelly is dumb enough to name Vick the starter.

koolbreeze

Anyone who objectively watches football knows that the last two years of the Andy Reid regime was some of the worst football coaching we Eagles fans have seen in a long time. Mike Vick first game coming off of injury-Reid has his throw the ball 50 times! Despite the toils, injuries and struggles of the O-line…Reid insisted on throwing the ball as Mike Vick took a tremendous beating.
Reid had become so predictable has he was out-coached over and over again.
Vick will be rejuvenated by a coach who will play to his strengths, take pressure off of him by running the ball consistently.. With bigger tight ends, innovative play-calling…Kelly will use Vick properly unlike Reid who tried to make Mike Vick-Tom Brady or Peyton Manning…minus a good offensive line!!!
Mike Vick will win the job easy against Foles and do some good things in this offense!

Mike Vick had 50 attempts one time, and 40+ attempts 2x.

Brady had 1 game with 65 attempts…another with 58 and 5 more with 30+ attempts….that Belicheck…some of the worst coaching in a long time

Luck had 3 game with 50 attempts, and 4 more with 40+ attempts….that Pagano…some of the worst coaching in a long time

In 2011 Brees had 9 games with 40+ attempts….that Peyton…some of the worst coaching in a long time

Its theNFL – the QB is going to throw the ball more than 40x a game all the time.

That you think Vick can’t handle that passing workload, combined with your misguided belief that coaches who call 40 passes are somehow idiots proves you have no idea how the NFL works, nor can you recognize that Vick is not capable of handling what NFL QBs are ROUTINELY asked to do.

You are asking Kelly to treat Vick like he was a rookie in his first 8 games.

Joke.

Vegas odds on what Vick’s excuse will be this year:

3:2 – Rookie TEs and stone hands Celek dropping perfect passes
3:1 – New offence takes 2 years to install, Vick will be great NEXT ear
4:1 – Peters not fully recovered from injury, oline not up to par
5:1 – New coach doesn’t relate to pro players – friction in locker room
8:1 – Read-option NOT suited to Vick’s ‘style’ as it exposed him to too many hits – Injured over second half of the season
40:1 – Contract distractions after Vick bursts from the gate to a 4-1 record before stumbling and rumours start swirling that he’s looking for a long term deal

I’m right here.

No problems or worries. Everything still stands.

If Vick is named the starter, then that will only prove that Chip Kelly is an idiot, and the team is going nowhere for a couple more years.

Won’t be anything to talk about at that point anyway….besides I’m off to Europe for a year in about 2 weeks, so my posts were going to dwindle anyway.

Now please, don’t take this for meaning that I’m folding or anything. I still believe (hope) that Kelly is a smart man.

I still believe, (hope) that when he watches Vick roll left, then throw a wobbler back across his body to Cooper – a pass that every scribe said would have gone 100 yards the other way in a game (BTW- 2nd str8 practice he’s pulled that same patented move) he comes to the appropriate conclusion…..and that is that, despite what this article says, Vick isn’t “winning” anything.

My favorite player of all time was Randall Cunningham – I was Donovan McNabb’s biggest fan until he was traded.

Is it that hard to understand that many people don’t want Vick to be the QB because he sucks?

Name me one QB that has the support of his team’s fan base after leading his team to 3 wins in 10 starts last year and has 10 red-zone turnovers since 2011 (the most in the NFL)?

I would want Vick gone if he was a white as snow and named Shamus O’Brien.

Here’s a little tid bit for the guys who said Kolb would be better than Vick. His quick release, quick drops, split decisions, hitting receivers in stride, and strong command of the huddle…yada yada yada……

According to Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News, the first few days of camp for Kolb have left a lot to be desired.

Kolb worked with the Bills’ first-team offense on Tuesday and didn’t look particularly inspiring. Per Skurski, Kolb “looked at times like he was trying to complete passes to the water cooler on the sidelines.”

Let’s not switch the focus for once with this thread here, but give comments on what guys like Vinnie seen that immediately had him and others believe Kolb was the answer at QB.

Let’s leave Vick out of this for a moment and focus on that ove fest with Kolb right before he was blasted by Matthews.

Past 2seasons:

Vick:
23 starts
457 of 774 (59%) for 5665 yrds 30tds 24 ints 21 fumbles (.434 win %)

Kolb
14 starts
255 of 436 (59%) for 3124yrds 17tds 11ints 10 fumbles (.428 win %)

Funny how you look at that and see one guy as ass, and the other as a superstar.

He may not have been “the answer” at QB….but Vick isn’t any better.

If you think Kolb sucks…..then, based on basically the exact same results, you must also think Vick sucks

Vinnie, I don’t know why you waste your finger energy. These people are gonna see exactly what they want to. Vick’s Numbers are Kolbs numbers but they don’t care It was all Andy’s fault or the O-line..the ball was wet, Somebody sabotaged his Air jordans….Receivers let him down….doesn’t matter. After 12 years your not gonna change peoples minds with facts. When all is said and done the Cult of Vick will endure because there is always Next year, the next coach and the next system that will catapult him to a legitimate superstar and not a run of the mill Jabroni.

There was a “love fest” for Kolb for 2 reasons:

1 – He showed promise
2 – He wasn’t Vick

These are the exact same 2 reasons why there is a “love fest” for Foles and/or Barkley.

That Kolb didn’t live up to that promise, does not negate the fact that Vick still sucks (as we knew he would).

We KNOW Vick will suck this year – we do not know if Foles or Barkley will. There is a chance they’ll be good……maybe better than good.

Therefore the logical choice is to go with the promise….

Why should any Eagles fan care about Kevin Kolb, he plays for another team. We want him to suck…

Our problem is Michael Vick… you know the guy who lost 27-6 to Kevin Kolb the last time we played AZ. You remember… when Vick fumbled twice in the red-zone and doomed any chance the Eagles had.

Did that have anything to do with Kolb hollering every offensive play that was called by Reid so the defense could know exactly where the ball was going?

I will answer you songs, I couldn’t wait for Kolb or anyone because I knew the eagles would never win with that choke artist McNabb, I didn’t, still don’t have time to scout every player personally, but the fact that Reid picked him second, came with huge praise, was enough for me to get on the bandwagon and give him a shot

after watching him play, Kolb could be a good quarterback but he lacks the fortitude to stand in the pocket and look down field, the Mathews blast probably plays a big part of this.

Every Eagle fan on this site, with the exception of Vinnie, was jacked when Vick came in and gave us hope that he was the real deal in 2010, but that was a long time ago, I will not root against Vick, he is a good man, but He isn’t good enough as a quarterback to get the job done. I hope Foles beats his ass in this co-called qb competition

vinnietheevictor
vinnietheevictor

Vick was in the picture, and McNabb had been traded after 09.

Vick lovers were all upset that Kolb was “anointed” the starter.

And actually Jake….When Vick came in I at first rolled my eyes watching him run around against GB. I hate that type of QBing, but it can be excited….and I must admit, Vick almost had me seduced after Detroit, Jax and Wsh…my emotional brain wanted to get on the train, it really did….

But my logical brain kept whispering….”he’ll fall back to his career averages….all QBs do…this is a mirage….remember 3 things:

1 – no team had tape or experience on him
2 – Det and Jax were completely abysmal teams
3 – Washington layed down that game – literally. Team was in complete tumoil at that time.

And the logical brain won out…..6 ints over the last 5 games…the Minnesota disaster….another bad playoff performance and then it was back to the “real” Vick.

The one my logical brain knew was going to show his head sooner rather than later……and it did….the results of the next 2 years are just above……

anyone with a logical, not emotional brain recognizes the numbers you see above (right on his career averages) are what can be expected of Mike Vick this upcoming season if he is unfortunately named starter.

If those numbers suck for Kolb (and they do), then they also suck for Vick.

Guy is a bad QB.

Well Said Vinnie. I just find it exasperating having to hear the same garbage over and over again. THe only way this team could be successful for the length of the season with Vick as the starter would be to run Shady and another back 75-85% of the time. The year the falcons went to the NFC Championship game the Falcons had 3 runners including Vick over 700 yards rushing….Vick cant take that poundng anymore. He isnt an accurate or reliable passer, nor can he be trusted to hold onto the ball. Those ore just facts…..Foles in his Rookie year has a better completion percentage than Vick in his career. What does it matter If Baby arm Kolb or Rocket arm Vick is back there if they have the exact same stats with the exact same concussion issues. Ej Manuel and Nick Foles need to be the respective starters for their teams.

A little disappointed in Foles right now. Knowing Vick will eventually struggle or get hurt and knowing Foles will have to play I am hoping Foles “gets it”. I then have to stop myself and say well there was 7 QBs taken before him in 2011 draft so it is what it is. I am hoping for hitting the lottery, defying all odds and Foles can be one of the rare exceptions in NFL history and become a franchise QB given his draft status. But some rumors are swirling that Dennis Dixon may backup the winner of QB competition, leaving Barkley as 3rd string, while the odd man out will be traded or flat out released. Oh yeah and its also been reported that again today the read-option was run a lot. Don’t know why they keep wasting their time with that gimmick. sigh.

“Just reporting the facts.”

“throwing ints”
It was 1 int. Which makes them even at 1 apiece over camp.

“Foles was awful again today”
I went through all the tweets and didn’t see the word “awful” once….the only words I read were “up and down”
I did see this though:
“Team red zone dills, Foles threads window of Kendricks, Sims and Wolff for TD to Avant. Fantastic touch and timing.”

Vick looked pretty good”
except when he didn’t on these occasions:
“Not a good sequence for Vick. Couldn’t get rid of ball quickly on two and threw a long swing to Shepard.”

“Vick took too long to throw on that last rep, incomplete. Gotta see the ball come out sooner.”

“Vick doing lot of scrambling today, no sliding; not much passing”

and so on.

But he threw a td to desean….fantastic.

But hey, keep reporting the “facts”

Vick looked good?
Those are the “facts” you reported despite no reporter out there reporting any such thing.

They are both absolutely equal on comp %, they’ve both thrown a bad int

the only consistent reports coming out of camp have been:

Foles underthrowing balls (a cause for concern)
Vick taking too long at the LOS and to get the ball out of his hand (a cause for concern)

These are the only 2 things consistently being reported at camp.

The rest of your “facts’ are completely made up BS because you actually think Vick is a good QB.

Reports out of camp simply serves to affirm what knowledgeable and balanced Eagle football fans know….Vick is going to win the job easy. He is simply the best QB on the team…and the Coaches are starting to recognize it too…according to John Gonzales of CSN Philly, the first team reps are starting to go Vick’s way:

“Vick took 34 total snaps on Wednesday – 24 of which came with the first team. Vick went 12 for 19. His completion percentage would have been higher, but various receivers dropped four of his passes at different points during practice. Foles, meanwhile, took 27 snaps (13 with the first team). He went 10 for 17. Foles was also intercepted by Colt Anderson during 11-on-11 activity when the quarterback failed to squeeze in a pass across the middle.”
He does not have the arm strength to ‘squeeze’ a pass in consistently..the QB battle is coming to an end…Vick’s getting the job…accept the facts!

Foles is feeling the heat and he is simply not that good. Underthrown balls, interceptions

Anybody with common sense knows Vick is better than Foles, and it isn’t close. Hey Vinnie, as long as you keep proclaiming the guy not named Vick gets the ball out faster and makes great decisions you’ll eventually be right… when Vick is about 50 and retired from football.

Most of your points are laced with irony. You point out that Brady threw 65 and 58 times, but neglected to mention they lost both of those games.

If you bothered to do any research instead of just spout your assumptions about how everyone throws the ball, you would have found out the Patriots went 3-4 in games Brady threw more than 40 times, undefeated when they threw less than 40 times. Brady also could only crack an 80 QB rating TWICE in those 7 games that he threw 40 times. Once again, the stats you choose to cite are usually incomplete and misleading.

About Luck… He had a losing record in those games he threw 50 times, and also broke 80 once with 50 attempts. He was also usually under 80 QB rating when they threw over 40 times(but less than 50). His QB rating was also below both Vick and Foles. Main reason? THEY THREW THE BALL TOO FUCKING MUCH!! They were one of the few teams to throw at about the same rate as the Eagles.

They were able to get to the playoffs with many mediocre or bad performances from Luck because they were in the AFC South and had an easy schedule with only SIX GAMES against winning teams.

skayne,

I think it’s a pretty well established fact that teams throw the ball more when the are losing… It’s losing that causes more passing – not passing that causes the losing…. At the end of almost every game it’s the losing team that passed the ball more – because they were trying to catch up… while the winning team runs the clock out rushing the ball… it’s not rocket science.

The rocket science you can’t seem to understand is that a balanced attack is by far the best way to go. If the actual results from the Patriots pass attempts can’t convince you, you just don’t see reason.

As I said, the Patriots throw to throw. It had nothing to do with being behind. They were ahead late in all the games but the Cardinals and 49ers game. They were up multiple scores against the Seahawks late, yet threw it 58 times. They threw and threw with little success, while stopping the clock and giving the Seahawks ample time to comeback. That’s just the facts. But I understand you don’t like dealing with facts that don’t conform to prior assumptions.

It’s also not rocket science, that game plans are formed before teams even play one another. Its one thing to go into the game and say we are going to beat the team with the pass, like we are accustomed to the coaching staff leaning on. Its a bit different when you run the ball from the start of the game and don’t give up. If you’re losing it doesn’t automatically mean you have to start throwing the ball, that depends on game time left and the score.

I have said 1000 times – There are not too many guys in the NFL that could beat out Mike Vick in a training camp tryout. That is why I hated to see him come back. I’m sure he will win the starting job. The problem is, it will take another half a season for Chip Kelly to learn what all Vick’s past head coaches learn – Mike Vick is not a good QB.

I feel like Mick Vick has had a 10 year tryout… and he lost the job… What can he show us that we have not already seen.

Some fans cling to the small sprinkling of games where Vick looked like a superstar. They seem to totally forget the more frequent games where Vick just sucked.

The popular excuse among Vick’s supporters is that it was bad coaching that caused Vick’s problems. I don’t see it that way… I traveled to AZ last year and sat and watched Vick fumble away the game to the Cardinals. That was not the coach’s fault…. Then two weeks later he threw 2 INTs and lost a fumble to the Lions.. not the coaches fault. That’s where the downhill slide started last year.

I don’t know if Nick Foles is any good… but I would like to find out… We have 10 years of experience watching Vick… We know what he will do 🙁

I didn’t say passing causes too much losing. I said passing TOO MUCH causes you to lose. Just as running too much will cause you to lose. The difference is that the more negative plays happen on passing plays- turnovers, sacks, etc.

Most of those games the Patriots threw too much they were not losing by any significant margin, only in the 49ers game were they down by more that a single possession. They threw because they wanted too, even when it wasn’t successful. I’ll say it again- if you throw too much, you give the advantage to the defense. No defense can take away both phases offensively. If you are good running or passing you force the defense to pick their poison. Chip Kelly calls plays, run or pass, based on what they D is doing, not just a preconceived notion that only one way works.

I know what Vick can do. He’s a highly productive QB when his line isn’t in shambles. Andy Reid was a horrible strategist in overall gameplan and terrible in game tactician. A balanced offensive attack neuters the pass rush, simplifies the coverages the QB sees, and drastically reduces the amount of zone blitzes that the opposing D can use.

Too many of you think Vick sucked in 2011. If you look at objective advanced metrics like ESPN’s QBR, Football Outsiders, and Pro Football Focus’s film study, you’ll see they rate Vick about the same as 2010. Pro Football Focus had him in their top ten.

Too many judge based only on INT’s. Vick was lucky to only have 6 in 2010 and unlucky to have 14 in ’11. So many drops or tips turned into INT’s. But the offense, with him at QB for 13 of those sixteen games, was top 10 or 5 in so many categories it isn’t funny.

He’s highly productive when…..when when when when.

Mike Vick is the king of “When”

Andy Reids strategies somehow got 6 other QBs to play at levels they never approached on any other team. But not for Vick.

Mike Vick was “unlucky” to have 14 ints in 2011? Not exactly – 14 ints was right where he should have been based on his career int %ages.

Since becoming a starter 1.9 3.0 3.7 3.4 3.4 1.6 3.3 2.6

Also notice how his 2 low #s 1.9 and 1.6 came in his first season as a starter, and his first year back as a starter. Both when there was no film or experience on the guy.

ALSO NOTICE – and this is important – that in his 2 low years he went weeks without throwing an int…again, the guy is a shocking player (for a bit)….in 2002 he went 6 games without an int…then the film came…..8 ints over last 9 games. The very same pattern repeats in 2010.

In both those years Vick was at 3.5% over the second half of the season.

Mike Vick has a very very consistent interception percentage….clamor all you want about tipped balls or whatever….guy throws ints on 3.3% of his passes consistently…he’ll do the same this year.

Or his very very consistent fumbleitis….16 11 9 11 10 11…..

Consistent number of ints on first down, consistent scrambling %, consistent fumbling….Mke Vick is perhaps the easiest QB to predict when bad plays are coming…every year.

BTW – go back to those NE Victories where they ended up with a “balanced” attack and take a look at their passing %ages in the first half as they built their leads.

Chip Kelly was 46-7 at Oregon. He ran the ball over 65% of the time in the 46 wins. In the 7 games he lost he ran the ball less than 50%.

I think a lot of people are going to be shocked when they find that Kelly (like every coach) passes the ball more than he runs it when he gets behind on the scoreboard.

As I said, the Patriots were not in throw to come from behind mode in any games but the Cardinals and 49ers games.

He will increase the pass attempts for legit reasons- either the defense is overplaying the run, the opponent is weak against pass and very strong against run, or we are severely behind late in the game. In no game where the score is within a single possession or we are actually leading will Chip Kelly amp up passes.

Actually, I love how he’s played since he became the Eagles starter. As a Falcon he was way overrated because he didn’t work on his craft to become a better passer. When he finally was forced to apply himself he improved dramatically. That’s why he’s the Eagles all-time leader in passer rating. Cuz the guy can ball. The idiotic decisions made on defense and special teams is why we’ve struggled the last two years.

Funny, your love for Foles who lost 6 of the 7 games he played in and with a mediocre college career as well. Vick lead his team to the national championship game, where was Foles? Did he get at least one conference title? No dice.

I KNOW what Vick will do if he is the starter. He will stink as always. I DO NOT KNOW what Foles will do if he is the starter. He may stink. He may become an adequate backup. He may become a championship caliber QB. I do not know.

But wasting another year on an aging, broken down, fumbling, mini-man who will “carry” the team to a solid 7-9 record throwing for about 2800 with 17 tds and 14 ints is a very stupid idea.

Vinnie “I love a drill cone because it isn’t Vick.

Enough said.

Your reasoning shows no rational objectivity therefore it’s a waste of time going back and forth with you.

There’s an excuse you make for Vick’s pro bowl MVP runner up year.

If you can’t give him credit when does things right then he’s still a failure in your eyes and there’s nothing he can do.

We’re not looking at 10 years ago but what Vick have done since being released, having success in spite of Reid’s pathetic, boneheaded play-calling, personel, and coaching moves.

Vick did his team to the playoffs, with an MVP like season you know?

So, claiming any stiff would be a better choice than Vick is ridiculous thinking.

You’d rather tank the team for years to come in hopes of one day getting a QB that could possibly get us to where Vick can get the team now.

Don’t say Super Bowl either because we’ve had good QB’s you would say was better than Vick, with “0” Superbowls.

There’s no way to know that getting rid of Vick will improve our chances and until a QB out right come in and shows he’s heads and shoulders over Michael Vick, I’ll take me chances with him.

Good thoughts Songs as always, I may not be in the majority and I don’t care but your one of he guys that speak the truth on here. I respect your opinion on the team. Good stuff, usually very humorous too haha..

What “Vinnietheloser” doesn’t wanna admit is that the past two days of practice MV7 has looked great. He’s looked sharp and threw a few TDs yesterday. Foles looked bad, and though it looks like Barkley has beat out dennis dixon bc he took all the 3rd team snaps he too looked bad. MV7 is starting to separate himself from he rest of he pack, just as I predicted, but though Barkley is hitting a little bit of an early rookie wall, I see him busting out soon and in the coming weeks.. Foles like I said before will be the odd man out and may be traded before the start of the Regular Season

Post Script– So Vinnie the loser, the next time Vick shines in practice admit it, don’t be a little weasel and not say anything but if Foles has a good practice y speak on it and gloat. Get outta here man. If you honestly care about the teams success you wouldn’t mind admitting it.

Vick had a very good day at practice yesterday.

This does not negate the fact that he’s cracked 8 wins once in his career.

Go ahead, get excited about complete mediocrity (at best)

THANK THE LORD WE HAVE A NEW COACH

Chiefs OC Doug Pederson claims he thinks Alex Smith is the best quarterback in the NFL.
It’s obviously a coach expressing hyperbole while standing behind his guy, but it’s another sign the Chiefs truly believe they can execute a pass-first offense with Smith at the controls. They’ve barely even practiced running the ball so far in camp. It’s the kind of play-calling that got new coach Andy Reid in hot water in Philadelphia. Smith was little more than a game-manager in San Francisco.
