Eagles-Lions Was An Instant Classic

classicAppreciate what you witnessed on Sunday. An Eagles single game rushing record, a head coach demonstrating the ability to make “in-game” adjustments, your defense continuing to grow as a unit.

The weather was a huge factor, thank you weather channel for being wrong with the time and amount of participation that buried the playing surface of Lincoln Field.

At the point of us being down 14-0, it felt like a deficit much deeper. We were struggling with the elements, Foles threw his first pick, and really nothing was looking good on the offensive end. Minus the two fumbles forced by the defense and the punts from Jones, our mindsets were merely hopeful that we could limit the points Stafford and company were putting on the scoreboard. Halftime could not come soon enough. Maybe the snow would slow down and allow the high-tempo style of attack that Kelly likes to deploy. So what exactly was said in that locker room before the third quarter?

Look, that second half of football was special Eagles fans. McCoy looked as if he was playing on turf and the Lions had one of the worse run defenses in the NFL. Our offensive line became a wall of men who were going to win every battle that stood before them.

I felt the energy from the Eagles players from my living room. There was passion, heart and determination that set me back to feelings I had forgotten existed with my football team. The entire time that our comeback was taking place, our coach showed that he is damn ready to be in the NFL.

It was a different style of attack that resulted in our third straight win at home. Snowfall aside, Megatron was just another receiver on the field. The field was a mess for both teams, but look at our offensive output in the second half. So if the media or the fan that still has their doubts wants to point at the snow, stop reading this article. Go check your fantasy stats; go pour another Monday cup of coffee.

This is real, and it’s getting better. I’m tired of fans not allowing themselves to fully commit.

Whatever you thought pre-season, let it be the past, your Eagles are 8-5 and playing great football. I need for you to accept what is happening and not factor in why it may be happening. I need my die-
hard fans to be crazy, get rowdy and bring that part of them back that I know lives.

Still don’t believe? Want to label this team, set limitations? Why and for what reason could you possibly have for not connecting with this new brand of Eagles football?

I’m typing with one hand as the other is balled in a fist, shaking in passion and awaiting the next opponent.

Where you at week 17 for that Dallas game? XFINITY LIVE is your new destination. We will make it our home field.

“I’m tired of fans not allowing themselves to fully commit.”

“Why and for what reason could you possibly have for not connecting with this new brand of Eagles football?”

This is all very interesting coming from the guy who wanted the Eagles to tank and “questioned our football IQ” as Eagles fans.

Fair enough, and I can respect that however the suggestion of tanking in a fan blog is never going to go down well.

One thing that needs to be changed!. After watching kick returners kill teams in damn near every game I think its time to put Brandon Boykin in moth balls. For 2 straight years he has been an awful KO return man. If he gets to the 22 its a good return. Also this was the first week the coverage unit was awful. I saw Brad Smith on the unit. Im gonna keep an eye on that situation. I hope it was weather related and not who Brad Smith replaced that made that unit pathetic. Next week I feel the only way Minny stays in the game is on special teams and Cordelle Patterson is a stud returner.

I remember when schiller and the other Andy Reid fans used to comment on this web site. Now maybe you will understand why I hated Andy Reid. A professional coach that could not make half time adjustments. It was pathetic.
I knew he did not have the heart of a champion, because a champion admits mistakes and makes efforts to correct them.

Chip Kelley’s Ego is not more important then the team. Fat man never understood that. And neither did his fans…

Andy Reid’s weakness is he has too much control over the QB. His play’s verbiage is so long that it takes forever to communicate to QB than QB to players it left no time to audible out of his plays. Very rarely do his QBs
change plays at the line of scrimmage and his 2 minute offense suffers for it in close games as his QBs are not used to running a team that way.

Difficult to see the game early. I was surprised plows didn’t clear the field during half time. Lost a bet on that one believing I was a know it all, I’ll be doing all the errands for December.
Can’t fret or rejoice too much if Detroit in lose or Eagles in victory. The team’s couldn’t even kick an extra point or sack a QB and the refs just abandoned measurements going for the eye ball measurement.

This was an instant classic with a career day from Shady and the game of the year and in a few years from this offensive line. Chip made all of the proper adjustments and received input from his players early on (Cary Williams in particular on having the WRs go on routes that cause them to cut a lot to make it difficult for the defenders) and he adjusted accordingly. I love this offense, I love this defense that are now opening eyes across the league as a defense that means business. The Birds held Calvin Johnson to 49 yards 0 tds. Lockdown shutdown. Yes Reggie Bush didn’t play but who cares, this time of year its about whos healthy and whos clicking as a team. Chip called one heck of a game yes, but Billy Davis and Jerry Azzinaro did a great great job once again..

Foles turned it around after the snow fall subsided a bit and they got acclimated to the conditions. He was challenged early, but he answered the challenge. It was good that Chip didn’t get impulsive and yank him for Vick, you gotta let him play thru it and they did that..

Yes 1 game at a time, but this game had a playoff feel to it. We could see this team again down the road because the Lions are a playoff caliber team in their own right. But what a game, I’m proud to be a Eagles fan.. a game we ll be talking about for years to come and could set up a deep deep run in the playoffs..

Shady McCoy may just be best running back in the game.
Peyton Manning is going to get 50 plus TD this year preventing Shady from even being in the MVP conversation. But congrats to shady any how.
Josh Gordon is taking over the NFL.
Shout out to Songs, Vontaze Burfict is a stud just like he predicted.

Leading the league in rushing, breaking ankles and putting dudes in the popcorn machine. 1700+ total yards after 13 games. The last run that he had was ridiculous and vintage. 2 guys completely whiffing and going the wrong direction. He has a long way to go to be Barry Sanders, but the comparisons are apt. I have never seen another guy who can start, stop and change direction except for Sanders.

How about taking care of the ball yesterday? Only 1 TO in that nightmare. That is awesome work.

WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!

Foles is the guy….HANDS DOWN!

Not because he had a mega game but it’s so good seeing a game in which the skill positions players are just watching and blocking for the QB.

Foles takes full advantage of the skill players and make great calls at the line.

I’M SOLD! LOCK HIM UP LONG TERM AND OFFER VICK a reasonable salary to back him up because it’s good to know we have someone who can step in if something happens to the starter.

The defense have convinced me and is really the biggest difference between the team now and earlier this season.

I’m ready to see how this team fair against the power houses now.

LET’S HAVE FUN!!!!!

GO EAGLES!

Also……Who cause more disruption in a game? Keuchly or Burfict?

Told you.

Another Paulman Trade Alert–
Redskins To trade RG3 and his ego to the Houston Texans for 2 1st Round Selections (In 2014 & 2015) with this Years Pick should be a Top #2 Overall PIck with the way the Texans are Playing and 1 2nd Rounder in 2014 and a 1 3rd Rounder 2015 and will receive QB M Schuab in Return

This Deal is is on the Table, as Texans Owner McNair wants RG3 Bad
with RG3 from Texas would give them instant Fan Approval after the debacle of this Season with Schaub, Coach Kubiak, etc,etc..
Owner Snyder of the Redksins is said to still be on the fence with this Deal though GM Bruce Allen is pushing him hard for it..
The Redskins will clean house with their Coaching Staff after the Season and with this Deal, would have QB’s K Cousins & M Schaub to compete as next Years Starter QB, would cut/release a lot of dead-wood and have some High Draft Picks to Rebuild their Team with ROokie COntracts which would help them with their Salary Cap mess that they are presently in

Players on the chopping block
WR S Moss, TE F Davis, Guard C Chester, QB R Grossman,
Safety B Meriweather, CB D Hall, DE D Tapp & LB L Fletcher will retire

Next HC will be an interesting Search as Owner Daniel Snyder likes to make Splashes.. but with GM Bruce Allen calling the shots as far as Football Goes, watch them go hard after low-key type of Coaches like a Lovie Smith, Kevin Wisenhunt, Jay Gruden, Russ Grimm, etc, etc as GM Allen tries to rebuild some Pride and Stability back into the Redskin Franchise…

Monday morning as an Eagles Fan….they are GREAT!!!

I didn’t even care to shovel the snow last night.

5 game winning steak…3 game Home winning steak.

A HC and coaching staff that will make adjustments DURING a game…OUTSTANDING !!

No doubt, the special teams cannot give TD’s or field position, but overall it was an incredible day with heavy snow and Shadey setting a team rushing record. 8-5 guys…this team is 8-5 and in the hunt for a playoff spot….a HOME playoff game!! It is great to be an Eagles fan!!

GO BIRDS!!

Really dude, yesterday during the first half you said chip didn’t no how to coach (in that weather) and that Foles couldn’t pass or play in that weather, and you are making qualifying statements about a QB who has lead the team to 5 straight wins, 5 straight TD’s in the second half (four in the fourth), and could have had six if Celek decided to run it in. That would have been 21 TD’s to 1 int. What a difference 2 quarters make !!! Just sayin!!!

The game is a full 4 QRTS, let the game play out. Nobody, puts together a perfect game in perfect or blizzard like conditions!!! Give these guys a chance to adapt and adjust…not make absolute statements that are erroneous just because you don’t care for the QB! Besides, the reason I addressed Theone1 is because he has been killing Foles primarily since the beginning, even when he performs at high levels over week in and week out.

That last pass to Celek…was all about play calling nothing to do with the QB…The defense was stacked for a run and was caught totally off guard…Foles played well in terrible conditions, but lets not give him sole credit for something that obviously worked because of the situation and play call…Just sayin! The other TD pass to DJAX…really didn’t look like it was to DJAX, but hey I’ll take it if it means the Eagles win!

According to Celek and Foles, they called that play….

Not only were the Lions and the 69,000-plus Eagles fans expecting a run, but so too were nine of the 11 Eagles on the field. The play design was a secret to every Eagle on the field except for Celek and Nick Foles.

““It was something we had talked about on the sideline and Brent and I were really the only ones who knew what was going on,” said Foles.

Since when does a QB “need to run the option” to be successful in the NFL?

Look at the top QB’s right now, Brady, P Manning, Brees. Do any of these guys “need” to run the option? These guys are setting scoring and completion records all over the place. The option is a college offense that is used as mostly a gimmick in the NFL.

Having a QB that can run well is always a positive. But building an offense where the QB running the ball is a focus, will have trouble being successful in the longterm. Having a QB can can successfully read what the defense is giving him and the ability to deliver the ball where it is needed are much more important than running.

When a running QB gets an injury to an ankle or leg, he is limited to running a traditional offense. Well if the QB is playing in an option style offense, he is likely to be injured at somepoint (because of a higher number of hits he takes running the option) and the offense trimmed back to a traditional style approach. As this QB gets older, and presumable he loses some speed as all players do, they would be required to change the offense to deal with his limited running ability, if the focus is on running an option. It is not uncommon to see a good QB play until his late 30’s, where an option QB is likely to play fewer years.

I don’t see Foles inability to run the option as something that is going to hurt his play or that of the team. I would rather have an accurate QB, making smart decisions and avoiding turnovers rather than a running / option style QB who is looking to make a highlight reel play every down.

I just read how Williams went to Kelly and told him to start running posts on O.

I was screaming for posts all first Q. I was losing it with all the horizontal plays. A simple fly is one of the best routes to run in the snow. WR gets a running start, while DB slips when he has to turn to run. Easy open.

Perhaps I should apply to be “weather co-ordinator”. Palying/coaching in the snow is old hat.
