Nick Foles Showed Us He Has The Toughness Of A Franchise Quarterback

NickFoles10Eagles quarterback Nick Foles showed all Birds fans last night that he can perform on the big stage with the pressure of a huge game, while getting pounded by an opposing defensive line and still play well enough to win.  That’s an ability found in franchise quarterbacks.

I knew Foles was tough, but I’m learning that he’s tougher physically and mentally than any of us knew.  There’s a physical part of playing the quarterback position in the NFL that isn’t talked about very much.

You know about it, if you have drilled a quarterback in the back with your helmet and stood over him to see if he will get up.  You look in his eyes and you see how tough the guy is living in there.  Foles has that toughness.  His teammates sense it, know it and respect it.

“His poise,” Eagles Pro Bowl Jason Peters said to Geoff Moesher of CSNPhilly.com, when asked what separated Foles from other quarterbacks. “No matter how bad it gets, he gets back to the huddle and says, ‘Guys, you give me some time, I’ll make a play.’ He’s a great leader and he’s got great poise.”

Poise is another word for mental toughness in this case.

You’ve got to have the toughness of a heavyweight fighter to be a franchise quarterback.  You’ve got to be able to take a punch and get back up, then take another one punch and get back up, then take another punch and get back up.  You must get back up physically and mentally in order to maintain the discipline you need to not start throwing the ball up for grabs.

Foles maintained his discipline last night and that’s one of the reasons the Birds are headed to the playoffs.

The Cowboys won the battle between both lines, at least in the passing games and that usually means you win the game at the NFL level.  Usually the quarterback that’s getting pounded makes mistakes with the football, but that wasn’t the case in last night game.

Kyle Orton was never sacked by the Eagles pass rush and he was only hit by them a few times, but he made two mistakes which cost Dallas the game.

The Dallas defensive line sacked Foles five times and hit him many other times, but Foles remained tough physically and most importantly mentally.  He only made one mistake, when he tried to throw the football with a swarm of Cowboys defensive linemen around him.

Foles didn’t have his best game because his receivers were struggling to get open versus the man-to-man coverage and his offensive line was being beaten by the Dallas defensive line.  Despite that he outplayed Orton.  Foles completed 17 of 26 passes for 263 yards and two touchdown tosses.  He finished with a 124.4 quarterback rating despite being pounded into the ground all night long.

Foles finished his record-breaking season in style. He posted a 119.2 quarterback rating for the season, which is the third-highest in NFL history.  Only Aaron Rodgers with a 122.5 in 2011 and Peyton Manning with a 121.1 quarterback rating in 2004, rate ahead of Foles’ performance this season.

You can brush this off in whatever way you would like to do, but you must give him credit for an outstanding performance.  The ability to be tough and play courageous in big games is a requirement of a franchise quarterback and that’s what Foles showed us last night.

Looks like G has bought in. Now, why can’t others? Foles turned the season around and lead us to the playoffs when he came in. Respect the guy just like the entire team does.

Good article G! For those that want perfection every Sunday get real! The kid has taken the league by storm. Won an elimination game on the road when the D of Dallas put a lot of pressure on him. Remained calm, made some plays threw zero picks! All I can say is wow! We have a keeper

Very good analysis of the game in a nutshell by G.Cobb: Foles had a Cowboy’s lineman or LB in his face within about 3 seconds of the snap all night, while Orton was getting just enough time to orchestrate an effective short passing game.

The Eagles pass rush just wasn’t there, and you have to give credit to the Dallas OL for that…However, the Eagles LBs and secondary did a good job in coverage, so what you saw was a classic ‘bend but not break’ scenario on the ‘D’.

I don’t think Chip Kelly was doing the Birds any favors with some of his play calls, including the one where he had, I believe it was Avant, getting a handoff and throwing the ball in the red zone…Also the play with 4th and goal on the one, and having Foles do a QB sneak, when the whole Dallas defense knew it was coming…That was a perfect situation for Foles to call an audible, and make a quick toss to McCoy, or a TE or another receiver out in the flat…Or how about just kicking a FG there?

Kelly was calling too many bad pass plays on 1st down, and it seemed like Foles was facing 3rd and longs for a good part of the game…Kelly has reminded me more of Andy Reid than an ‘offensive genius’ in many games this year…But, again, the Cowboys were well coached and executed the game plan very well.

Great article G. Hopefully this clears things up for Songs, Kool, and the rest of the Black Panther party on this site. I just don’t know how people can rip this guy. If he throws 7 TDs in a game, they find a reason to downplay it. If he helps win a “win or go home” game on the road, he’s a bum because he didn’t have his best game or put up huge stats (although he finished with a 124 QBR. People also forget that he hasn’t even gotten a full season under his belt yet. Seriously people, what more do you want from him?

Their Secondary is a mish-match of Coverages..
A little Tampa 2, Some Man, Mostly Zone..
The Saints lost both their 2 Top Players in their Secondary
towards the end of the Season in CB Jabari Gree and Safety Kenny Vacarro.. Since these 2 were injured, The Saints Secondary and Ryan are calling more basic Zone-Coverages..

The Key as DCar has noted is their PAss-Rush and their Overall Play of their Front 7 which will be the best Front 7 the Eagles have faced since the Arizona Cardinals a few weeks back
DL Gillete,Jordan have both played at a Pro-Bowl Level and LB”s Curtis Loftin and David HAwthorne have solidified their LB Corps
the Los of Safet Vacarro has been big for the Saints for they lined him up all over the field as a Run Defenser in the Box, a Center-fielder in Tampa 2, a Cover CB for Slot Receivers, A Cover SAfety on Athletic TE’s.. with his loss, the Saints have to rely on the Veteran Roman Harper who does not have the Speed or Athletic ability as Vacarro does, which means they are playing a little more conservative in the Secondary..
.

Wow GCOBB, great article about our franchise starting QB. This story is very contradictory as some of the GCOBB posters such as Fraudsongs KoolBreeze, TS, and a few other on here would have you believe. However, when the QB’sthey tout as great a franchise clutch players have games that are less than or equal to Foles performance last night they would have us believe that the QB, be it Vick, Cam, or Kaepernick was everything you said Nick “The Franchise” Foles is. I’m having fun with the nick name the franchise, but he is a franchise QB, considering his performance with so few starts, in the cowboys home turf, with everything on the line. This is just the tip of the iceberg for him. Foles didn’t fold, under the circumstances…he flourished. Foles is gold!

Foles is a game manager but don’t look for him to put the offense on his back.

This works with a top running back and a defense that balls out.

Hopefully those 2 Elements continue or we’re toast.

You are correct Foles is a game manager. He isn’t going to do much for you to win (if conditions aren’t perfect), but he won’t do much for you to lose either. He is good enough.

It ‘s working for KC with Smith and when he was under Harbaugh – No reason it can’t continue to work here with Foles.

What’s most important with the NO game coming up is what answer Davis has for Sproles, Graham, Colston and of course Brees. If this game turns into a shootout we will lose.

Offensively, while NO has a defenses ranked in the top 5 in most categories they are middling against the run. So I could see a Bears-esque plan against them – pound them into the ground, with some passes thrown in for good measure.

Let’s hope the defense comes up big again and NO doesn’t have an answer for Shady.

Well the best regular season in Eagles QB history belongs to Foles (also the best game ever). He was the highest rated passer this year which is nuts considering Manning just broke the record for TD passes. Thats what happens when your TD-INT is 27-2=insane…best we have ever seen in a season.

Foles is above and beyond the guy. Find me someone better than 27-2 and they will be the new guy since all that matters is the Eagles team.

In EVERY close game this year, in the fourth quarter Foles has turned the ball over, missed wide open receivers, and failed to get key first downs.
The best thing he has done is hand the ball off to Shady in the fourth quarters of the game!
Foles is good enough…we can win with Nick Foles at Qb…as long as we dont make him or think of him as Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning…or any of the top flight Quarterbacks. He is like Alex Smith, Trent Dilfer…he is in that category. If there happens to be a young QB in the draft that we see with better skills than Foles…we should draft him!! Foles is a game manager who wont lose the game for you, but he wont do things like Aaron Rodgers did against Chicago! Chip Kelly knows this and notice that in the fourth quarters of close games…Chip Kelly wisely relies on the running game!
There is a very good reason for that!!!
The guy who is not getting the credit for the Eagles success is the best running back in Eagles history…Shady McCoy!! We can win…and win NOW with running the ball and defense!!

With Foles folk get caught up in the results and not the process. Kelly’s system is even more QB friendly than I previously thought – but his history in college laid it all out – he had QBs in contention for the Heisman trophy – dominated with lesser talent and none of those made any sort of transition to the NFL. Book is still out on Mariota.

Foles played a really good Bears game. Best game he played all year. Then he regressed against Dallas – He has a tendency to wither on the big stage. Think Matt Ryan – a guy who puts up gaudy numbers, but can’t get it done on the playoffs. He can’t just take over a game and make it happen. Think of Kelly’s lack of championships in college – same thing.

Luckily however good enough will get it done, for now. Watching how the playoffs unfold will be a lot more telling.

Poor Comparison with Matt Ryan… Look at the Falcons Defense the last 3-4 Years, one of the Worst in the NFL.. their loss of WR Julio Jones at the early part of the Season with no Running Game with S Jackson out injured doomed the Falcons from the get go..
They let Free-Agents like LB Curtis Loftin, DE Jon Abraham, OT Tyson Clabo all walk for they hit the Salary Cap with QB Ryan’s Big Contract..
This is the price Teams like the Falcons, now the Ravens, the Cowboys, who pay a Franchise QB Type of Money to without being able to afford or develop a good supporting cast… The Great thing with the Eagles and Foles is that he’s cost’s them chump change while on his Rookie Deal and in Terms of a Starting Salary in today’s NFL, this saves Millions for the Eagles in Cap SPace to Address other Positions..
I do think theEagles should give QB FOles a boost, nothing crazy, but a refelction of committing to him and rewarding him for a job Well Done

Good point paulman…give him a little bump up in money…but this ‘franchise Qb’ stuff…and the money that goes with that…NO…that would be an error. Let him start..he has earned the job…but lets draft another QB with some physical talents and we can have a situation like they had in San Francisco with Kapernick and Smith…
Smith was a good QB for SF….but when they had an opportunity to upgrade..they made the move and now they have a franchise, Super Bowl caliber QB who can win games for you…not just manage the game.

Aaron Rodgers has always had the physical tools…a strong arm, great accuracy and touch where he can throw the ball to receivers even when they are covered or have just a little separation…great mobility, can hurt you running the ball…he has speed and elusiveness..he developed a great deal of mental toughness dealing with the Brett Farve situation.
You put Alex Smith with the offensive genius of Chip Kelly and you would have the same results…in fact I think Alex Smith would be even more effective than Foles because of his greater mobility!
Foles success is coming mostly from brilliant play calling…the design of the plays are masterful leading to wide open receivers. The vast majority of passes Nick Foles throws are easy…screens, dump offs, and wide open receivers running in the middle of the field.
Foles best quality…is a very good one…he don’t turn the ball over..he does not throw interceptions…same thing that was good about about McNabb but we didn’t give him a lot of credit for it either ! McNabb, the greatest QB in Eagles history, threw the ball a lot under passaholic far more than Foles will ever throw the ball.
Why cant people just be balanced about Nick Foles? He has played very well..but you guys want to make him far more than what he is..chill out with that~! Lets look at what we really got here…Shady McCoy is the superstar on this team…not Nick Foles!

Beagleisstoned…you must have been drunk…the Detroit game Shady took over the game…Arizona..Shady took over..the Washington game Foles fumbled the ball and a RGIII was picked off by the defense. the Vikings game, Foles was ineffective when….in the fourth quarter…missing open receivers. Yesterday…Foles fumbled the ball turned it over and was mostly ineffective in the fourth quarter…Shady took over the game!
Again…Foles is a game manager…a good, fair quarterback who can really look good at times when everything is going right. He is good enough for us to win with…as long as we put emphasis on the running game and the defense!!!
You can spout Foles stats over and over again…I’m not buying it…he is okay..a good player..Foles is no superstar Qb…he is not a franchise Qb like Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Kapernick, Manning…or QB’s like this…again..Alex Smith is a good QB…him and Foles are on the same level…they both manage the game they keep turnovers to a minimum…we can win with defense and Shady

That name is up there with huggy bear. How is Cam Newton all of a sudden a franchise QB, this is his first good season. 2011 panthers, 6-10, 2012 record 7-9. Nocoincidence as the defense improved so did the panthers. Dis you see Cam play the last two weeks, quite erratic, won because of the defense. Bottom line, Foles is a first year starter and has performed with the best of them without the totality of the experience of those you mentioned above. Get your head out of your ass and see him for who he is. A rising QB who is still learning, smart, accurate and doesn’t turn the ball over every game like MV7. Unless you’re “Foles is gonna be the next Tom Brady” you’re bashing the guy. No. He’s a good, not great QB. He’s efficient and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you have the right pieces around him.

Talented defenses are always going to be a problem. Ones that scheme well are also going to always be a problem. And I think the playoffs will be tough sledding (I feel the same way about KC with Smith at the helm) – but we will win games. And ultimately that’s what’s important.

In EVERY close tight games we have played and won this year…it has been Shady McCoy who has taken over the game in crunch time!!! The Detroit game, the second Washington game, the Green Bay game, last night game!…The fourth quarter…when it has been time to close the game out….Shady has gotten it done!!! . He leads the league in rushing…he is an All-Pro and the best running back we have seen since Barry Sanders (him and Adrian Peterson).
Stop hating on Shady!!! Give him his due…everyone who has been asked about stopping the Eagles offense the first thing they say…”We have to stop Shady McCoy”. …

Shady does get his due…it’s a QB driven leage, why isn’t the 49ers defense or the Carolina defense getting their due. Cam and Kaepernick have been good game managers this year, however, Cam was bailed out in tight situations this year by defense, so has Colin. Get over it! Fact is, The Eagles was 1-3 with Vick and Shady, Eagles are 8-2 with Foles and Shady..it’s the QB moron!

Or maybe it’s the defense who was giving up 31 points a game at the beginning of the year – but then was averaging 21 points a game in the later part of the year..

‘Cause funny when they gave up all those points to the Vikings all I heard was how it was the defense fault. Oh wait…it was the QB. No? Okay.

Nope…you didn’t hear me say that!, However, the next week against the Bears the offense put up 47. It’s the Ebband Flow. I’m still waiting on you to answer my question. What QB does not have up and down games and need help from the defense time to time. What NFL QB has blemish free games week in and week out? please answer the ? Especially QB’s with 15 starts under their belt. Also, what is your tool for measuring how well aQB will project in the futureafter 15 starts?

You lames for all of your Foles euphoria barely mention Shady…when it reality…in the fourth quarter of EVERY close game that we have won this year…its been Shady McCoy who has taken over the game and won it for us! Eagleshaslanded…Cam Newton beat the 11-5 New Orleans team at the end of the game…with three on the money passes (two of the passes were perfect passes against excellent coverage) at the end of the fourth quarter, with the game on the line…AFTER losing his best receiver!

Foles has not come close to doing anything like that to win us a game!

Eagleshaslanded…You dont allow facts to mess up your story line at all…Lets look at the Eagles at 1-3 with Vick and Shady.
The Eagles were 1-3 after playing the first 3 games in 11 days with a terrible defense against a powerful offense -Denver.and the three loses came against playoff teams (San Diego, Denver and Kansas City)!!!
The only playoff team Foles beat was Green Bay! (Without their best player in Aaron Rodgers!!!)
Its the running game and Shady-Idiot- that has gotten the job done in CLOSE games that were decided in the FOURTH QUARTER.
Foles has done a good job…he’s not a superstar, he is a efficient, game manager…like Alex Smith…the superstar on the Eagles is Shady McCoy!

I don’t care..If you are this franchise, supremely talented QB, you overcomeallof that…because that’s what you are demanding of a 15 start QB, andwhen he struggles you kill him as if hewas drafted in 2004 and had over 100 starts. Your premiseand criteria for measuring and projecting Foles is flawed due to your bias because of the vitriol that came Vick’s way. You can only play and beat whos on your schedule…hell with your thinking. The Eaglesshould only play playoff teams every week huh? Not possible so it’s not even a rationalargument!

I will make my only comment now about the anti-Foles crowd: They don’t understand football…Foles is ‘a game manager’, ‘doesn’t do anything to help you win’ etc, etc…This is blatant nonsense right on the surface of it…Every winning QB is a ‘game manager’, because THAT IS THE QB’s JOB…The QB orchestrates or conducts the offense that the coaches lay out, he directs the game plan in action, on the field…Foles has shown that he has the potential to be a master at this task…Foles also minimizes turnovers.

‘Doesn’t do anything to help you win’???!!!…Foles threw two TDs yesterday: Take those away and the Eagles lose!…How dumb can you get!

Foles is basically a rookie: He has some glitches in his game, but nothing that can’t be improved with some fine tuning…He will put on a little more weight and muscle, but has already shown that he can take a beating…He can make all the throws, has great field vision, and is surprisingly maneuverable…Foles just needs to mature.

As for Vick, I believe he has made a great contribution to the team, both on the field, and off with his attitude…Vick has a lot of respect in the locker room, and his support for Foles and the team has contributed to the Eagles success and team unity…I would have no problem with Vick being brought back in a backup role, as every team needs a solid backup, and Vick has certain explosive skills that would be best utilized in situations where he doesn’t have to play 16 games a year.

Against the Saints, I think the Eagles have a shot, but we might see Chip Kelly getting schooled a bit by Sean Payton…In any case, this is a learning year for the whole Eagles organizations, and they have exceeded almost everyone’s expectations already…Any wins in the playoffs will just be icing on the cake.

In any case, football games are won in the trenches, and the Eagles will need to step up their line play to beat the Saints.

Foles is not a superstar…he not Manning, Brady, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Kapernick…he is not in that category…his arm strength is not that impressive…he is not mobile…and again…every close game that the Eagles have won this year…games that have went into the fourth quarter to be decided..look closely at those games…they have been decided by Shady McCoy and the Defense!!!

Son, there are facts, and then there are agendas…Your whole ‘persona’ on this board follows an agenda…Not that it matters, as this is basically a chat room for fun.

I had a customer at the insurance business last year: Actually, he brought his son in to get a policy.

I spoke to the young man, and found out that he had just completed a summer internship at ESPN, up in Connecticut, as he wanted to get into sports media…I told him that sounded interesting, and asked him how he liked it.

His answer surprised me a little: ‘Well, I didn’t really enjoy it.’…’Why?’ I asked him…’Well, I just felt uncomfortable with their whole attitude: They made all of us take a class called ‘We deal with the Facts, not the Truth.’
‘Well’ , I replied, ‘that’s a funny name for a course, but you know how the media operate.’…He just looked at me and laughed a little…’Yeah, they have an agenda.’…’Yes; they manipulate ‘facts’ to serve an agenda, which is mostly to create controversy’.

Have you been drinking Frank…who cares about your insurance business??? We talking about football here. Here are the football facts..go back and look at every game Foles started this year…remove the blowouts-Oakland, Chicago, Tampa (all teams that are not in the playoffs)…look at the close games won and the losses-(Arizona, Green Bay, the second Washington game, Detroit, Vikings, both Dallas games…
In the fourth quarter of all the close games Foles either:
a. turned the ball over with fumbles
b. missed a lot of open receivers
c. in the wins the offense was almost exclusively running the ball
d. the defense came up with big plays
What we have not seen from Foles is what we have seen from all of the elite QB’s in this league…Russell, Newton, Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Brady…winning a tight game under pressure with his passing.
Perhaps he can and will do it one day…we just have not seen it…what we have seen in the fourth quarter…is poor throws, taking bad sacks, fumbles…and to our relieve…handing the ball off to Shady!!
The best thing he does to help us win close games in the 4th Quarter…is hand the ball off to Shady!
This is what has happened this year…Foles is a good player…he’s not a superstar, he’s not elite…he’s not one of the best in the league…he is good…the superstar on the Eagles…is Shady McCoy…

In the fourth quarter of games when they are close and contested…take the ball out of Foles hands and make sure that the game is put on Shady for offense and let the defense get stops…
This is how we have won close games this year…
Lets keep the party going stick to that…and we got a real shot in the playoffs!!

Sounds like a code word to me…”real” fan?

What I am reading are a bunch of people typing on here that are intent on tearing down Nick Foles, and the crazy good season that he had this year. I would not call them fans at all. I am reading people put down a player because he had a great year, but happened to replace an aging star, and those people cannot accept that fact, so they tear at the new star in some effort to make themselves feel relevent and believe that it in some way builds up the older player. Maybe it is natural….maybe it happens with most older QB’s, but I see a team that has made a huge transition in a single year…win a conference championship….and all that a certain few want to credit the QB with is that he is a “game manager”. Well as entertaining as it is to watch some of the mental gymnastics it takes to make some of these statements, it is just as pathetic to have some of these writers claim to be “fans of the team”, because the success of the team is clearly the last thing that matters to any of them.

It is now past week 17 and I am willing to discuss with all the morons what a few on here have been screaming since the past offense.

Nick Foles – 7 td’s in one game, highest passer rating in NFL this season, ability to get the ball to dynamic players who make plays. Takes the team to the playoffs (team sport but some of yall put the playoff bar out there thinking Foles could never get it done) – NOT A GAME MANAGER he is A FIELD GENERAL and we have our FRANCHISE QB!

Congrats to this team that I thought would win 6 games this year due to a defense I doubted but I am glad to have seen a team GROW each week!

LaSean McCoy is the NFL’s leading rusher – he is one of the best backs in the league and the Eagles would not have won the division without him. Just as they would not hove won the division without Foles, the NFL’s leading passer.

If you need proof of that look at the Vikings who won nothing with one of the best backs in the league.

If you need to know how much tsjohnson knows about football and how big a bullshit merchant she is just read some of her earlier comments… Here’s some of my favorites:

–> “Now class…Without Vick in our pro-bowl running back doesn’t get anywhere.”

–> “Chip ain’t stupid. He knows how his offense works. He knows what he needs to make it work. And Foles ain’t it.”

–> “You think Foles is gonna beat a better defense with his arm? And no running game…cause Shady is sidelined with him in? Really?”

–> With Foles -“We’d need to run more traditional sets. Even then though keying on Shady would be easy to do b/c Foles isn’t a threat to stretch he field…basically the same problems the Vikings have with Ponder and Jax has with Gabbert.”

The last one is my favorite – Foles don’t stretch the field? All Foles did was lead the league in yards/att, and the Birds lead the league in long TD passes.

Foles is a game manager like Manning is – oh and by the way, Foles has twice the arm of Manning.

Are you drunk again…dont even put Foles in the same sentence with Manning! Manning routinely makes throws that Foles cant make in his dreams…receivers are covered and Manning drops it on them with such accuracy…oft-times under pressure.
Listen…I’ll admit… I really under-rated Chip Kelly!! I did not think that he could make it work with Foles…I vastly underestimated his ability to call plays, create mis-matches, design pick plays and fomations where he gives the QB simple reads and helps the receivers get in open space…Chip Kelly has maximized Foles abilities and made him a good-not great-QB!
With an excellent defense and the best running back in the league…and following the formula of taking the ball out of Foles hands in tight fourth quarter games and relying on the defense and running of Shady…we can win!

EXACTLY! Like I said Kelly’s system is even MORE QB friendly than I gave it credit for. And Foles is a better decision maker (product of the offense ’cause last year not so much) – and he is a good not great QB.

Cherry picking quotes again right…

“All Foles did was lead the league in yards/att, and the Birds lead the league in long TD passes”

Because of excessive yac doll.

Funny how you don’t quote me saying how I expected the offense to do well (with Foles in) – how the defense was the big question mark – how the run would be diff but still successful with Foles in – but some changes needed to happen.

Oh and Shady was complaining about getting hit in the backfield more. About getting hit more period. Check the press conferences. Not a prob at all when Vick was in.

Or the quotes where I said I expected to win the East even after Foles was in.

Weren’t you one of the ones bitching about Kelly being hired? Or how this was going to be a losing season and a “rebuilding year.”

You and your buddy Vinnie two peas in the pod.

TS you know where I stand with Foles. I’m on record even after the first dallas game stating the kid has heart and wasn’t as bad as that game. I don’t quite see him in “game manager” mode that you and Kool do, but to your defense I understand how and why one may come to that conclusion.

But you and Kool will continue to get a pass from me. I remember when many of these same “real fans” had written this season off as a rebuilding one. Many of these same clowns were willing to run Kelly out of town just because he disagreed with THEIR assessment of Vick. When he stated he’d hold open comp for the starting job; instead of letting it play out most of them went ballistic. Conspiracy theories were floated out daily. Chip’s competence and even manhood was questioned. Remember that? When he announced Vick as the starter after outplaying Foles, they lost their damn minds.
Vick and the offense played well before he got hurt. Many of these guys REFUSED to get behind him, Chip and the team. The site was spammed everyday -even when threads weren’t about the qb-,ripping Vick. Never mind that we played the 3 games in absurd and possibly unprecedented 11 days, but the the defense was the worst in the league.

I get it you’re trying to temper over the top praise with some balance. But you can’t win with these guys. You’ve yet to resort to outrageous name calling to refer to Foles or even Chip for RETAINING AND STARTING him. Outside of defending your own honor from numerous slurs; you don’t give these clowns what they deserve. The honorable high road means nothing to them. Come over to the darkside with brewski. The force is strong….lol. Invite Skayne, Real, and Kool too.

1. I think Foles is a decent Qb. Not great but good. And that’s good enough.
2. I think we will win games ( maybe even and SB with him gotta shore up other pieces of the team first)
3. Being critical of him is NOT hating him

Hell I even commented on what he did well – but that’s not enough for these fools – I need to grovel and say “Yes Massa Mr. Foles is de best young QB dat eber did live Suh. Yes Suh he is” before these dumb, misogynist, racists, pricks shut the hell up. Not gonna happen.

Dilfer was in reality a back-up who was lucky to start and had the beastly Ravens D to lean on. Alex Smith would make a good argument except he wouldn’t attempt half the throws Foles has down field.

Ahhh..but Smith has been pushing the ball down field more this year. He’s overly cautious – moreso than Foles BUT he’s more mobile than Foles. He’s pretty athletic actually, he will pick up yards with his feet when necessary. I think – like Foles – he would do well in this offense.

I will agree that Foles does a great job of hitting receivers in stride, but the simple fact is that your assessment of Foles was wrong, Foles is most certainly a threat to stretch he field.

As for McCoy – your point that Foles not posing a threat to run would render McCoy ineffective was incorrect. And that was your point.

And your predictions about the Eagles having a successful record were contingent on Vick being the starter. As you put it – “I see them as an 8-8 team. Vick and crew did that in 2011 with a lot of variables working against them.”

What is most important though is that we do not repeat the mistake of 2002. Do not stand pat and do not think “the system” is the key. It always comes down to the players. Go get Jaius Byrd and draft a corner in the first round and improve the secondary. Then find another WR, stay away from Maclin who is dead average and a bust. If you can’t get a WR then at least please give me a return man that can make something happen. We need another weapon.

jbird, I’m going to give a sleeper diamond in the rough WR who can be had in the 6th round..Jeff Janis, 6’3, 218, 4.43 40 from Saginaw Valley State.
Two safeties, Calvin Pryor III from Louisville and Deone Buccanon from Wash. St. We also need a OLB who can cover tight ends, backs and get after the QB, Kyle Van Noy BYU. DB Sylvester Jean Baptiste 6’3″ 220, think of Aquib talib without the off field problems.
I think Cam will continue to grow into a very good QB, however, people hype him up because he makesgood plays with his feet..some with his arm too! However,it has taken him 3 years to start to find his way as a QB and people act as if he was all world since he came into the league. He was pretty erratic yesterday and last week so he looked like a so called game manager..not an elite QB. Cam still has aways to go. If he can match his performance up with the growth and play of the defense…OMG look out. But that hasn’t happened yet.

(you’re so smart you should know that) Mhenski THINKS he’s anonymous but he’s not. The ONLY reason I haven’t done anything up to this point is b/c my mother asked me to leave it alone. So I have for now. But I’m not feeling so nice these days so we will see.

You are neither quick witted or very smart. You can miss me with that. Try that smarter than you shit with someone else. Mhenski got his panties in a bunch ’cause he couldn’t hang, got his ass handed to him and broke all sorts of Internet etiquette and civility by trying to flame me online.

With that said your questions weren’t “meticulous” they were however tedious and lacking of value – hence the reason I chose not to respond.

As far as “cussing” I do so because I like to. I like to use all the words in the English language. And sometimes only a Fuck will.

Game. Set. Match. Bitch.

Nice, you have a Masters in English, (if that’s all you have I’m not impressed. That wasn’t even worth mentioning to me! Masters degrees are so common now. I have a Masters in Education, a Masters in Psychology and an Ed S. in Psychology as well as my license and certification to practice. National contests huh? I see you are regaling us with all your writing skills on GCOBB (NOT)! If you are a great writer then you know how to make cogent, concise and well developed arguments, so why do you fail to do so? Your long ranting diatribes are quite irrational, foundationless and juvenile, which leads me to doubt your claim of your personal educational apex! Once again, cursing is for those with limited vocabulary. Your power is in swearing because you have no other way to self empower. I can read you like a book! Way to easy!!! Game Over!

So what’s all that schooling tell you about self-hating black men who like to go on sports blogs to try and “school” the lone black female poster to impress all the racist white guys on the site.

I mean dude, you’re showing them. And sweetie you can’t “read” anything. Your colonization is showing however.

Self hating black men….please, such a tired argument. As I stated, we are not a monolith. I look at ones character and content, basing my opinions off of that alone. If that makes me self hating…so be it, but as I said, “I love me some me.” so that kind of contradicts any idea of self hate. Self hating black men are those who rape their communities with drugs, their peoples mind body and soul, sell drugs and destroy the hopes of their people. Your idea of a self hating so called negro/black man is one who speaks his mind free from the shackles of defending someone based on the color of their skin. How pathetic is such a judgement of a man! May I suggest you read theautobiography of Malcom X (one of my personal favorites.) Play particular attention to the chapters on Malcom making his Haaj to Mecca and once he returned to the states. If you’ve read it then do so again to refresh your memory. I guess you would find that Malcom self hating too, and Dr. King also!

Since you want an “educated” pissing match:

Read that when I was 11. Still remains one of my faves. I re-read it every few years or so.

I would suggest to you Cater G. Woodson’s the Miseducation of the Negro. It was made for Negros like you.

The Miseducation of the Negro is a great book. Read it in high school on my own accord. I’m not a negro though. I don’t know where negro land is that. To my knowledge that is not a true nationality, nor does it exist. As I stated, I don’t let your massah define my self worth or identity!
It is a good book though. May I suggest you read When and Where I Enter (The Impact of Black Women on Race and Sex in America) by Paula Giddings. This will be a good book for you. I don’t say it with a smart alec spirit either, you will enjoy. I appreciated it, particularly the enlightening historical component.

Eaglehaslanded, don’t waste your breath. Her hatred shines through, bright as the North star. Self hating Black men is my favorite comment of the year, next to her comment to me, about my half-blackness! Too much insecurity among our peeps, when an educated, self empowered man of color, can think, respond, & have a thought of their own, & not be trapped in the vicious circle of madness, that plaques our peoples thinking, & decision making. I don’t have anything personal against the Sis, nor do I doubt her smarts, but with each incoming post, comes her true thought process. Just saying…

DCar you’re so small minded.

I didn’t make any comment to your about being half-black. you bought that up as if being half-black stops you from being racist.

That was my point and clearly you were too slow to get that. You and your frends want to throw the racist term around so much, but someone tosses it back…”Oh NO I’m half-black” Okay.

You and Eagles are full of it. I’m born and raised in the south. I’ve caught hell (from both sides) from being too black, not black enough, too smart, whatever.

Yet you fools want to IGNORE the racist bullshit that’s regularly on this site and come at me? Feigning enlightenment? GTFOH.

HILARIOUS. I know black men (and half black men) like you – kissing the white man’s ass from the beginning of time. And loving it.

You don’t know me, nor anything about me. You people are meaningless, faceless, nobodies. You seem to be just one of those hateful Sistas, that can’t see a successful black man, with a individual mind. You like to be stuck in your ghetto world, within your vicious circle of being held down, by your own stubborn, ignorant beliefs. You are the type of POS, that would rather celebrate a Brother being paroled out of jail, before you would celebrate a successful, smart, College graduate, who makes a great living for himself. You must really hate Obama, huh? I love the way you delicately try to pull, the old Uncle Tom verbal diarrhea. God forbid we have friends with a white man, or agree with someone who isn’t of color! You are the hypocrite racist & bigot, & as I said, you prove it further, & further, with each, ignorant rant. I don’t agree with the way the POS’s on here talk to you, & I’ve stated it in the past, but when you clearly state things hypocritically, you get what you deserve. F632 mhenski, & the other turds. They are internet gangstas, that would piss their pants if confronted in person. Apparently, smart, intellectual Brothers like eagles, & Myself (forgive me, if I even consider myself one), threaten, intimidate, or bother you somehow, because we ain’t your poster boy black man. You are the definition, of what holds our society back in the stone age. Hopefully you haven’t procreated, because we have enough ignorance in this world, & the vicious circle needs to start changing somewhere. I’ll say a prayer for you. Never sweated Kolb. But Foles short career numbers thus far blow Vick away and I guarantee he triples Vick’s playoff win total in the next few years. Have you ever noticed no AA QB has ever won a SB or do you disregard that fact. Success at the position has been minmal. They only truly great AA QB was Moon. I also like McNair for his grit and leadership and McNabb was good enough (and understood the postion enough) to win a SB but had an idiot for a coach. Randall had the greatest measurables but lacked coaching and wasn’t the brightest football IQ. But I loved watching him play and so wished he could have played against Denver in ’98. Other than that, there was a bunch of guys that sell video games that can’t see the field or read defenses. You can’t learn to be a QB when you are 22. High school and college coaches exploit the athleticism and don’t bother teaching the finer points that you have to start learning when you are 14 or 15 years old. its not going to happen when you are already in your early twenties. And Doug Williams did not take his team to a SB. He came off the bench against over matched competition and went along for a ride. He was stone cold mediocre and only deserves credit for breaking the barrier as a Buc.

Perhaps his views are bigoted, definitely ignorant, but his words hold no power because they have no truth behind them (That’s why I exposed what he said…you did not)nor does he have any power over anyone with his words, unless you allow him to. Then that person is just mentally weak and highly suggestible. Our definition of racist is clearly different. Eagle…Jay Schraeder was the QB until the final game of the regular season. Williams was the back up. They beat the Bears in the playoffs on a Darell Green punt return. Then the Vikings upset SF so they didn’t have to play anyone in the NFCC. Then you know how over matched the AFC was in all those SBs. Denver never had a chance because the Skins lines were huge and beat them up all day long. Williams was stone cold average. I watched him his whole career. He could never lead a team to a SB.

JBIRD ,that’s a moot point, Williams won the superbowl as the starting QB, which is what your premise was, an AA QB never won the SB. It was’nt an AA QB never lead the skins to the SB. You can’t make a statement, be proven wrong, then go back and change your premise to fit your agenda or taylor it to your need. How or why the skins got in is not a factor to his performance in that game.Who was the starting, finishing QB who won that SB? Doug Williams. period!
To say he was average and could never lead a team to the bowl is assinine because you ca’nt project what a play is capable of…based on what ? A less than 24 hour of research or looking at old film, which I highly doubt you seriously did. You have to come better than that…You sound foolish. Your original comment was ignorant…now you look to compound an ignorant statement with a more ignorant one which appears to strengthen the possibility that you are at least prejudice, if not bigoted in your thought process! The big challenge for the Eagles to win a title is going to be finding a pass rusher. There is not much in FA or the draft. Depending on how things shake out, I would love to see an aggressive trade up for Barr. Give their first and second this year and their first next year. It is always more about the pass rush than the coverage so I would forfeit a chance to draft a top CB the next two years for a perennial 12-20 sack beast.

Jbird..I love Barr, been on here touting him since early 2012, it will cost to much to get him though Maybe a two and three next year, plus a 1 this year. Maybe a Khalil Mack or a Trent Murphy from Stanford will be more attainable, but as I mentioned, I think Kyle Van Noy will serve a multipurpose role for us. Iwould like him to be a bit more smash mouth and arrive at his target with nasty intentions, but he has the ability to dominate and take over a game.

Well Houston is going to take Bridgewater, then the Rams will go LT. Jax will take Hunley. Clev will take the kid from Fresno. Oakland will then take Clowney. Atlanta is next and they need picks quantity over quality. Barr doesn’t fit a 4-3 so they would probably make a deal. Say the Eagles picks at 22 and 54 and their first round pick next year which will probably be around 29. Don’t know if that gets it done. Might have to throw in our second rd pick in 2016.

I fully expect Washington to be in the doldrums for quite some time. A couple of seasons at least. We will see who Snyder picks as his next coach…he lacks the nack for evaluating good coaches. He may want to consider bringing someone in to perform that task for him. His ego will not allow him to do so though!

I only prefer a pocket passer over an athletic black QB because THEY WIN. Not because they are white, but because they win. Would you want a slow white guy as your starting CB?? Of course not and neither would I.

All but 3-5 on us here embrace all of our good players. Some of us are clouded because our newfound leader that shows so much promise does not fit a certain criteria. His historic performance and leadership during a 7-1 stretch run to the playoffs, his gutsy road performance to lead us to the division ain’t enough. To me we have a flaccoesque or big benish type of guy… That I will take!

The problem is that so many refuse to acknowledge the reality of the Eagles…there have been teams…like the Baltimore Ravens for example with the championship they won with Trent Dilfer…where the QB was not the major focus of the team. This is Shady McCoy’s team! Just as he demonstrated when after the Vikings game when he said “Put the game on me”
Foles stats gets worse as the game goes on…and Shady’s gets better…he is averaging 6 yards per carry in the 4th Quarter…while Foles numbers in the 4th Quarter decreases and gets worse.
Shady is the superstar and the leader of the team.,..and just as Ray Didinger stated…he is the clearly the best player on offensive!
Is Ray Didinger a ‘racist’ because he makes this point??
Stop hating…just ride the wave…Foles is a good young player…he is not Flacco, he is not Big Ben, he is not Russell Wilson, he definitely is not Brady…he is a good player with the best offensive coach in the league!-Chip Kelly!

“Sounds like a code word to me…”real” fan?

What I am reading are a bunch of people typing on here that are intent on tearing down Nick Foles, and the crazy good season that he had this year. I would not call them fans at all.”

They might not even be real people at all.

Internet forum or website owners sometimes create something called ‘sock puppets’: ‘Sock puppets’ are not real people, but just names that are used to post comments…The comments will usually take on a negative or contrary nature, in argument with majority opinion, to add an element of controversy to the website, and hopefully to draw more web traffic that view the ads posted on the site, i.e. to get more hits on the website…Not all websites do this, but it is a fairly widely used practice…A web administrator can make up ten new names and register them in less than an hour.

The, you have a phenomena know as ‘trolling’…These are independent posters who enjoy doing the same thing that ‘sock puppets’ do, except they are not a creation of the administrator, but ‘troll’ because it gives them pleasure.

The viewpoints expressed can be on either side of the aisle, so to speak…The goal is to agitate…Same as with ‘talk show hosts’ except the Internet is still anonymous.

You must have me confused Pheags
I have been a Foles Supporter and wanted no part of Vick
being re-signed to come back after last a Season in the first place..
I thought and stated many times that it would be best for Coach Kelly to
Start with a clean slate, but I understand looking back that Kelly wanted an experienced and mobile QB to be able to implement his System
In fact I was one of the few and perhaps the only Poster on here that even had Nick Foles on the radar for the Eagles to check out and potentially Draft in 2012, so on a personal note, I am very happy and excited to see Foles play the way he has.. Did I expect this type of efficiency in his 2nd Season, no I did not, but I stated then and stand by my analysis that I saw a lot of upside potential in him that reminded me of a young Big-Ben in his pocket prescence and his ability to stand tall and make Plays and just be athletic enough to buy some time and get the ball out to his playmakers as well as his intangibles, clock & huddle management, Field awareness, Football IQ etc, that you just don’t see in many young QB’s..
My biggest fear going into this Season is that Coach Kelly wouldn’t give him the opportunity to play in his uptempo scheme and attempt to Trade him in the Spring after they resigned Vick, added Dixon and then Drafted Barkley
But obviously Kelly liked what he saw all Spring OTA’s & Summer Camp to trust in him and adjusted his Scheme that suits his skill set better..

I’m listening to the Howie Roseman show on WIP. He started his show off with discussing how they found Foles and how well he continues to play, grow, demonstrate toughness and leadership. Make no mistake the Eagles have their man for the future at the QB position. Howie loves him..lol.
Jason Peters was asked what distinguished Foles from other QB’s he’s played for? Peters responded…”His poise, no matter how bad it gets, he gets back to the huddle and says ‘Guys, you give me some time, I’ll make a play.’ Peters went on to say “Folesis a great leader.”

BL I agree. While McNabb had some issues, mainly IMO in relating to his team and fans, he is certainly the best QB the franchise has had to date. I also agree with your statement that we are only 15 games or so into Foles career here….you cannot push him ahead of the 10+ years that McNabb played here and the success he had. Was he perfect, no, and no player or QB will be, but to diminish his accomplishments and place within the history of the team is wrong.

Foles didn’t have his best game but that would have been 7 TD’s so….. lol I will give Foles the same slack I give any qb. they all have incomplete passes bad throws ect. even the best Brady Manning all throw poor balls during a game. What I look at with him is how he does not force the game and when the opportunity is there he takes it for the most part. He makes great throws when he has too, its not needed to show off your arm on every throw. That throw to Cooper in the first quarter was crazy between two defenders. My only wish would be for him to step up in the pocket a little more when the play is not there right away rather than hold it and take a sack or grounding penalty. If he steps up sacks would be a no gain or a scramble, but I’m splitting hairs.

Jairius Byrd & TJ Ward. The draft is weak at safety, especially high in the round. I’d use the draft for a big, young, WR, young CB, & LB early on, then use the later rounds for depth. This draft is deep at LB, especially rush LB’s, ILB, & 5 tech DE’s.

The vitriol in regards to race is well documented coming from those making both outrageous charges against blacks and disingenuous claims of reverse racism. People are too used to being allows to feel comfortable in the bigotry and ignorance and not being challenged. just because one chooses to call this out does not mean they have a hang-up or are consumed with race. To often that lame claim has been floated out as a shame tactic to quell dissent.

Kool, Skayne, Songs, or even TS versions of being contrary in regards to Foles isn’t even on the same galaxy as the daily spam about Vick. As a poster who is clearly on record with supporting Foles, I CLEARLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE. I don’t see any of these posters making claims or accusations distinctly about Foles’s race. I see them calling out the often unchallenged bigotry and getting scolded for playing that card that only CERTAIN, namely white, get sole discretion to use.

When I first came on this board I saw Jake coming at you hard and I defended you(check the thread). You never acknowledged, nor did you need to. When I saw you and Jake continuously having dialogue I left it alone. So you’re wrong there! You keep speaking of others denegrating you…you’ve done the same to me since we started this dialogue,
And yes, I expected you to come back. I love a spirited debate/dialogue, that’s why I engaged you in one when you said I didn’t want one with you, however, you just harangued and tiraded about race, your whole thought process is on race, which clearly rules your emotions, thoughts and guides your very existence as a human being. I originally asked you football related questions which you didn’t answer, your reason is your own. But the fact that you turned it into a racial conversation made me aware that you wanted to avoid the question, not address it. Your experiences in the south has made you bitter and angry, it has also made you the very thing you claim others to be on here (and obviously despise,)you say racist, I’ll say bigoted and prejudiced, you judge when knowing nothing about another (I’m referring to me…I can’t speak about others on here). Just because someone does not agree with one who is of the same ethnic group or nationality does not make them self hating. That’s a flawed ideology based on the idea that we are a monolith! As I stated last night, I have not called you one name…but you continue to do so…and then complain about others doing it to you. That’s irrational thinking and hypocritical. You do not own the corner on racist/bigoted/prejudiced experiences….some rise above it….others languish in it..allowing it to consume their very existence. You have done the latter and don’t see it. Nice to know you was having a convo with your friend about black men like me…talking about the devil….educated, gives time to help youngsters in his community, addresses violence, drugs and the importance of getting an education. I feel you, she obviously missed it when I ripped and challenged jake when he got nasty with her. But, she continued to dialogue with him right after he said what he said, and in between what I said to him about talking to her like that. But I digress. It’s all good. Happy New Year bro!

You too. It’s 2014, maybe the Birds will give all of something to be happy about. My thinking has totally changed, & now think the future is really bright for them. Now only if Ruin 2morrow & Holmgren can get canned, & the Sixers loose out & get us a top 3 pick.

DCar you can take it or leave it. But you do realize you compromise any moral high ground you have by doing the very thing you accuse TS ?
” Typical scorned, self hating, Sista, that doesn’t like a smart, successful Black man”
You yourself are doing the very thing you claim she and others who are on the other side of the qb debate do. Is it somehow more insightful when you call it out? You and Eagle posted on a public board your life experiences in regards to being men of color. Are you and he playing the race card or consumed with race? Or were you being informative and trying to bring a subject that has consistently been the elephant in the room. Why are you more right than anyone else? Why do you call only those that defend Vick racist, but somhow miss the overt racism coming from the likes of jake, xevious, irish, jbird, fraudman, and vinnie? I’m sure i missed a few, but you get the point.

cold, since you interjected yourself into someone elses convo, go back & do a little research. I’ve ripped jake many times for racist shit. I’ve called vinnie on the carpet for his obsession with Vick. & countless others. I defend myself, & bring up my race, only, & when somebody ill-informedly calls me racist against Vick. I don’t like Vick, nor will ever like him, because he is a fraud & overvalued as a QB. Period. I have never once made an ignorant, racist, biased, nor bigoted quote on here. NEVER! I bring up fact, & the truth, nothing else, nothing more. I’m no better, nor worse than anyone on here, but I definitely have more sense, smarts, intelligence, respect, & humility, than some of the @$$clowns on here. I’m no fraud, am brutally honest, & wear my heart on my sleeve. If nobody likes it to f^#@ing bad! The truth hurts!

Actually I didn’t denigrate u since the convo.

U came at me and then I went ALL the way there. Because me disagreeing with Foles being super QB somehow rubbed you the wrong way.

You took it there about lack of intelligence and ignorance and all of that. Then tried to tell me in what ways I’m supposed to be black. And how I should I look at racist crap on the board. AND how I don’t know what racism is and blah, blah.

U don’t get to tell me how I get to be black. U don’t get to question my intelligence, defend the ignorant troll who likes to stalk me online, and question my intelligence. And then act surprised when I decide not to play nice.

The only one talking about black people being a monolith is you. I never said that, suggested it or think it. Pseudo-intellectuals are so annoying. You know who’s preoccupied about race – the nut jobs on this board who get off on calling black folk racist who happen not be Foles fans.

But you not preaching to them huh?

I judge?

Says the man who called me ignorant and dumb lying about the “apex of my education.”

Who likes to play pseud-psychologist and claim my “experiences in the south has made you bitter and angry” – actually it hasn’t. What I don’t have patience for is black men who feel the need to jump on black women and given blatant racists a pass in some misguided attempt to school me on blackness.

Boy bye.

I was wrong. I knew I was wrong. And I was willfully being wrong. If you’re man enough to apologize I am (wo)man enough to do the same.

Bottom line, say what you want about Foles and his QB play, or lack of athleticism and whatever else you don’t think highly of, about his play..
The fact is, that he’s lead the 2013 Eagle to the NFC East Crown and he’s a “Winner” in my book… everything else is kind of secondary, don’t you think?

Its simple…Foles is a good quarterback. Shady McCoy is the Eagles best offensive player and a Superstar at running back. Chip Kelly is a Offensive Genius and this has led the Eagles to winning the NFC East.

I hope that it is that simple…but you left out an important part…the DEFENSE!!

We need for Davis to get this defense playing at a high level the way that he has during the last half of the season….we went 7-1 to end the season, so obviously we did something right. We need Wolff to get healthy becuase Chung is an obvious spot that Brees will pick apart all night.

LOL, exactly….it’s time to close ranks as Eagles fans, if you truly are…and cheer for the team …putting all personal prejudices aside..and trust…we all have them on here! Some are just more agenda driven than others! This season wouldn’t have been as successful as it has been without the collective effforts of the coaches and the team….Shady, Desean, Nick, Chip and Billy Davis is the pistons that are making this engine run. Let’s just appreciate it for what it is and has become.
Happy New Years Guys and Gal!

Exactly Eaglehaslanded, exactly. This is the perfect time of year for that statement. Our team has come a long way from the 4-12 season last year. We are division champs…we won 10 games….we have a rushing leader and a new QB who is playing lights out…the defense has made big strides and last but most important we have a new coach and staff that have installed a new system that is about winning. We have a lot to be thankful for as fans of the Eagles, and all of the time spent on side agendas (myself included) has really taken away from the absolute joy that we as Eagles fans should be celebrating. Thanks for the post Eaglehaslanded, it was well said and much needed.

Apparently we can as long as it meets approval by many of the guys who happen to agree with you Eagle. I’m not accusing or holding you responsible for what they’ve said and done, but brewski will continue to call them out whether they like it or not. And we all know the love-fest will end the moment some unfortunate injury befalls our gifted young signal caller. So for the sake of civility I hope Foles stays healthy and we continue to win with his heady mistake free play. But if he goes down, the same guys will resort to their well documented hate. BOOK IT!!!

You’re right coldbrewski, I whole heartedly agree with what you are saying, but, at some point and time…I just would like to see some of the agendas leave gcobb.com and Eagles fan be Eagles fans. It needs to begin somewhere…be it one or two.people ..it needs to start. Everyone is entitled to their opinions…but some of the things stated on here is clearly agenda driven and blatant. I speak out against it too, and get accused of kissing ass because I’m looking at things from a different perspective…well I don’t tow the company line…I speak my mind, and always will!

Glad to see that coldbrewski was elected the site-cop. Disagreement is not allowed. I get it. I guess you didn’t actually read what Eaglehaslanded wrote. There are other sites where this race shit doesn’t happen non-stop, I will go back there and enjoy my Eagles playoff run and the Vick-Trolls can all go talk to themselves.

Mhenski heres the hookup. You go to stadium, you then go through security. Scalpers are selling standing room tickets before game for 30-40 dollars. You then find empty seats. Had some friends do it last 2 home games. Dont get tickets outside of security check they are fake. Thats just a option for ya!

“Kyle Orton was never sacked by the Eagles pass rush and he was only hit by them a few times,”

Our Pass rush has been atrocious this season. This is my main concern going into this Saints game. Will this Defense be able to get any pressure on Brees?

The last time we played the Saints November 2012 they had no answer for Shady, Brown, Cooper or Jackson. The main problem was we beat ourselves by turning the ball over in the redzone. We were just not able to get into any scoring rythm on Offense. Plus our secondary got torched by the Saints. I see us being able to score on Offense but im a little concerned about the Defense.

Good article G. Foles toughness and ability to follow CK and engross teamwork as “1 for all and all for 1″‘ with his Eagle crew are important and will far outlast any overt selfish thinking. If they can work on his speed and agility during the offseason we may have something here. The brotha is growing on me and just may be what we have been looking for. Good luck to us in the playoffs.

Foles tough? Look I am on board with Foles as future and hes had a wonderful year but lets not go overboard. All QBs are tough. Foles has started 15 games and been concussed and missed games already.lol I haven’t seen Foles take hits like Aikman and Simms in years past so lets not act like he has been getting pummeled.Eli hasn’t missed a game in 10 years and Farve didn’t miss one in 15 years, now that’s tough. I give Foles all the credit in the world but him being labeled as tough is way down the list at this juncture.

If a Player leaves the field with a hot to the head and is groggy
It’s at least a 1 Week sit out, and when it’s a QB with a clear hit to the
Head, it’s almost a 2 Week sit out by the new NFL Protocol..
It’s the new emphasis on Player Safety and especially for the
“Denfebsekess Players” like QB,WR’s etc…

IzzellJenkins

I was skeptical of Foles from the beginning and the first Cowboys game really knocked my confidence in him but give the guy his due as of right now hes playing like a stud QB. Is he the Franchise? Still don’t know. Is he a game manager….you would have to be an idiot or have an agenda to still hold onto that notion. In comparison to Vick, Foles is already light years ahead of him in running an offense, 2 minute drill, redzone, reading defenses etc. He turned Riley Cooper into a formidable no.2 WR where Vick had no confidence and couldn’t make throws to get him the ball.

Please stop with the nonsense running QB. IT DOES NOT WORK. Its a nice facet to have but it does not make a legit NFL QB. Vick was an ultimate running threat in this offense and even with those legs when he needed to make the difficult throws he couldn’t. Its as simple as that. If you can’t make all the throws from the pocket your not a winning QB in the long run.

Rocko

Izzell where are your true intentions at man? Who in the heck wants Foles to run like Vick or any so called running back that is a run first before scanning his options qb? Rodgers, Brady and Manning all have SB and are faster and more agile than Foles thats what I’m talking about. Da heck you talking bout? I see why TS Johnson be pulling y’all “sucker card” and ethering you quick! You sound ridiculous, even Romo is more faster and agile than our Qb. Grow a pair man (or whatever you are).
