Chip Kelly Talks About Preparing For New Orleans

ChipKelly5Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach Chip Kelly just got done speaking with the media at the Novacare Complex. The first-year head coach spoke about his team’s mindset going into this Saturday’s playoff match.

Kelly stated that the team’s approach to the situation will not be that different from what it was a week ago in Dallas. “We’re in the same position we were  a week ago facing the Cowboys. If we don’t win, we go home.” Kelly said.

Kelly was asked about his team’s turnaround from a 4-12 record in 2012 to Division Champions in 2013. He credited his team’s work ethic and dedication at practice. “They’ve got an unbelievable work ethic, and do everything that we as a coaching staff ask us to do.”

Brandon Boykin has been one of the key’s to the team’s defensive success, and Kelly complimented the second-year player for his work on the practice field. “What you see with Brandon on the field is a reflection of the level of intensity he puts in to practice.”

It sounds as though the Eagles are preparing to face Drew Brees and the New Orleans’ receivers without safety Earl Wolff again. Wolff hasn’t been able to practice yet, so Patrick Chung appears to be in line for another start.

When asked about the opposing head coach Sean Payton, Kelly credited the New Orleans coach for doing a great job at putting his players in good positions. “Sean always does a good job at getting good match ups on the field. You look at Jimmy Graham, they move him all over the place. He always seems to have the best matches for his playmakers. They missed him a year ago, but now that he’s back, they seem like they’ve picked up right where they left off the year before.”

Sean Peyton is going to run the ball a lot in this game. Eagles need to focus on stopping the run and stopping Graham. Colston is a after thought in this offense now. Control the special teams play, dont turn the ball over, stop the run and slow down Graham and its a easy win.
