Philadelphia Phillies v St. Louis CardinalsThe Philadelphia Phillies lost their sixth straight game on Thursday afternoon, falling to the Nationals 4-2. Their record drops to 24-34.

  • Kyle Kendrick pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits and five walks. His record for the season has dropped to 1-6.

  • The Phillies offense suffered through another poor outing, scoring just two runs on four hits.
  • Ben Revere began the game with his second double of the season. Chase Utley singled him home two batters later.
  • The only other run would come in the seventh inning when John Mayberry led off the inning with a solo home run.
  • Ryan Howard went 0-4 with two strikeouts, dropping his average to .227.
  • Jimmy Rollins went 1-3 with a double.
  • Wil Nieves started at catcher for Carlos Ruiz, and went 0-3.
  • Justin De Fratus allowed two hits and recorded two outs in the eighth.
  • Jake Diekman relieved De Fratus to pick up the final out.

Final Thoughts

Things are really getting ugly fast for the Phillies.

They’ve just been swept at the hands of the Nationals, giving them six straight losses in a row. They’ve lost seven of their last eight, with all of those losses coming to a couple of mediocre division rivals in the Mets and Nationals. They’re already 10 games below .500, and we haven’t even made it out of the first week of June.

well that sucks for the phillies because those guys wont even get us fly swatters to bat the flies eating up that shit on the field.

if they dont trade utley this deadline then the phillies will have done nothing to improve the future of this team. they didnt last year so i dont expect them to this year either

An organization in dire need of position players, & the 1st 2 picks of the draft were pitchers! But, Marti Wolever continues to run the disgraceful scouting. I don’t know who I hate more, Ruin 2morrow, or Marti “I am pathetic” Wolever! This draft was deep in pitching, & only had good bats at the top of the draft, but they draft 2 pitchers early! He has the balls to say, after drafting these 2 kids, that they both project to be middle to back end of the rotation guys! WITH THE #7 PICK & #47 PICK, NEED TO BE MID-TOP END ROTATION!!!! What a f^#@ing abortion, this entire organization is!!!!!!!
