NFL Week 2 Picks

TonyRomo1Miami @ Buffalo

Both teams made major statements a week ago with upsets of the Patriots and Bears respectively. I think the Miami offense under former Eagles’ quarterback coach Bill Lazor is the more legitimate of the two, and I give the Dolphins a slight edge on the road.

Pick: Miami 24, Buffalo 21

Detroit @ Carolina

Cam Newton returns, and the Panthers play their home opener. The Panthers have a very tough defense, but their one weakness is a suspect secondary. I don’t expect the Lions to light up the scoreboard, but I think its going to be difficult for the Panthers to shut them down and score enough to pull this one out.

Pick: Detroit 20, Carolina 17

Atlanta @ Cincinnati

Both teams come off of tough, emotional division wins. I think the Bengals’ offense really gets on track against a pretty poor Atlanta defense.

Pick: Cincinnati 27, Atlanta 21

New Orleans @ Cleveland

Must-win situations for the Saints to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start.

Pick: New Orleans 30, Cleveland 13

New England @ Minnesota

Must-win situation for the Patriots to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start. No Adrian Peterson means no shot for the Vikings.

Pick: New England 33, Minnesota 17

Arizona @ New York Giants

In case you missed last Monday’s game, the Giants are bad. Really bad. Even though Arizona is on the road on a short week, they’ve got more than enough explosive weapons to put up some good numbers on a terrible New York defense.

Pick: Arizona 28, New York 17

Dallas @ Tennessee

The Titans looked surprisingly competent in an upset win over the Chiefs last week, but I doubt they’ve got another performance like that in them. This is a week where the offensive talent of the Cowboys overcomes their defensive woes.

Pick: Dallas 27, Tennessee 23

Jackonville @ Washington

Robert Griffin is just a mess right now. He’s going to struggle heavily against that Jacksonville defense. However, I don’t think the Jaguars offense can do enough against an improved Washington defense to pull off the road upset here.

Pick: Washington 17, Jacksonville 13

Seattle @ San Diego

I don’t know how Philip Rivers can be expected to fare any better against the dreaded Seattle defense than Aaron Rodgers did. Cruel scheduling by the NFL to have the Chargers face a Seahawks team on a short week when Seattle has also had extended rest from playing on the season opener on Thursday night.

Pick: Seattle 24, San Diego 13

St. Louis @ Tampa Bay

The Rams are already dead in the water thanks to the Bradford injury. Tampa Bay wins this at home.

Pick: Tampa Bay 23, St. Louis 10

Kansas City @ Denver

Its going to be a long year for Andy Reid and the Chiefs. They were exposed last season for being the frauds that they are when they couldn’t compete against winning teams, and now they’re already off to a terrible start with a loss to the Titans combined with a rash of injuries. They couldn’t stand up to the Broncos last year when they were healthy, and they won’t be able to now.

Pick: Denver 38, Kansas City 20

New York Jets @ Green Bay

The Packers bounce back from a rough opening night to beat up the Jets at home.

Pick: Green Bay 27, New York 17

Houston @ Oakland

The Texans defense is strong enough to anchor Houston to a win on the road.

Pick: Houston 23, Oakland 14

Chicago @ San Francisco

The Bears go into San Francisco shellshocked after a loss to the Bills, and also with their top two wideouts battling injuries. I like the Niners at home.

Pick: San Francisco 27, Chicago 24

Denny Basens

Redskins Offense under QB Cousins is a more efficient and better Offense..
They can compete with the Eagles with Cousins at the helm
I also think that QB Drew Stanton can improve the Arizona Cardinals
Offense over Carson Palmer..
I did pick-up QB Cousins on my Fantasy Team expecting an injury or the
Eventual benching if RG3 who is just not a good fit for Coach Gruden’s Offense

Look I’m not arguing that – Cousins is WAY more comfortable int his offense than RG3 – Gruden apparently wanted a pure pocket passer and forgot (or didn’t care) who his QB was – so instead of creating an offense suited to his talents he tried to turn him into a pocket passer – which he’s currently not comfortable being – my point was that even though Cousins may “look” better it wasn’t like RG3 was stinking up the joint before he went out.

And it’s still the Jaguars.

Bob does things in the pocket you just can’t unteach. His feet suck, he doesn’t know how to step up in the pocket and move around and the slightest hint of pressure he goes to his right out of the pocket every time.

Neither Wilson or Kaep are pocket passers.

Their coaches didn’t try to turn them into one.

They try to turn Cam into purely a pocket passer – but I think he’s like “Ima Do Me” and well…does him.

My point is there was no need to try to turn him into a pocket passer, particularly coming off an injury year in a brand new offense. If what Gruden wants is a pure pocket passer, I agree with what ol’ boy said last week, might as well just play Cousins ’cause that’s not what makes RG3 special.

He looks neutered. It’s not a comfortable fit. And while I don’t agree that you can’t unteach things…it def takes more time than an off season and a couple of games.

RG3 will get Traded after the Season,
Possibly to the Dallas Cowboys or SL Rams
Cousin’s will be and should be the QB for the Redskins moving forward.. He’s a Natural Fit for Gruden’s Offense while RG3 is not a good fit at all as I have stated all Summer long… Why should Gruden change what has worked for him as a OC at the NFL Level, similar to what he did with the Bengals & QB Andrew Dalton.. Cousins can be much better than Dalton ever was..
A no Brainer… RG3 Days in Washington are done…

Won’t argue that.

RG-3 needs to be in a diff type system. And he will excel. With the exception of the old guard (Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Manning) it’s not like the pocket passers have been winning.

Gruden seems not to want to tailor his offense to his talent. He will need a diff talent then.

Rg3 is an NFL QB what he isnt is a savior who will revolutionize the game. The nonsense that QBs of the future will be dual threat monsters etc is just that nonsense….

Linebackers run 4.4 and even less at 240 and above….the game is faster on a whole. There will be outliers who can withstand that type of punishment(maybe Kap or Cam) but on the whole it doesnt work and its fools gold.

If you thought a guy who was 6’2 220 could withstand the physical abuse running and being the pocket you havent been around football very much at all.

To early in the season to be crowning anyone HAC. Wins a win, that’s why all the hype last week about the Jax meant nothing. Win and be injury free, they were 1-1 with that.

Seattle is the best team right now. I agree with that statement. But folk act like the Cargers are scrubs. They are not. They are inconsistent – but they are a quality team.

TS if the Birds can somehow go 3-0 before SF they could be sitting in the cat bird seat in the NFC. Not saying they are the best team but with NO and GB falling over themselves there’s a big opportunity early to build a lead AND survive injuries.

At this point I don’t beleive any team is gonna survive injury free. Like I said on another site, it’s starting to be pre-season ball out here with the way starters are dropping left and right.

The 600 pound elephant in the dome ..will Nick Foles on Monday night resurrect himself on a national stage? I can’t imagine a better scenario as the Seahawks ,niners ,(currently stumbling late on Sunday night ) New Orleans and the NFC is wide open for the emergence of Carolina,Arizona ,and perhaps the Eagles …nick Foles under the bright lights …what I’d expect is a desperate team in there home opener ,so it won’t come easy (does it ever )? I think Chip wins the battle between the ears ..both vs opposing the coaches ,and nick foles who went to school watching tape of the scariest 30 minutes since Rod Serlings twilight zone …

Well Crabtree was making some big plays this game. And truthfully it shouldn’t have come to that. Defense played well this game. The turnovers is what killed them.

similarly to today, Kap to Crabtree choked in the superbowl on the last play,
Kap to Crabrtree choked in the NFC Championship game last play,
and they choked again tonight on the last play of the game.
Niners lost because the QB was awful – 3 interceptions and and lost fumble, I was just laughing their stubbornness with trying to make Crabtree a Dwight Clark highlight.

Yeah…they need to let that go at this point.

49ers Defense pooped out in the 3rd Quarter, Zero Pass Rush on Cutler on those last few Drives… Their Secondary is Average at Best, and young, young with Eric Reid & Jimmie Hall who will be good Players but are not right now…. They miss Aldon Smith, Navarro Bowman and Glenn Dorsey big time and I guess who wouldn’t miss these Players …

Well let me rephrase that.

Penalties on the defense were not good. Particularly on that long drive by Chicago in the third. But overall they did more than enough to win this game.

Only 3 point in the second half. All on the offense. Seattle is happy though.

Hey TS

You laughed when I said Birds would be better with Foles (or just about anyone) over Vick
You laughed when I said there was a QB controversy in Washington
You laughed when I said the 49ers would end up regretting the move to Kap.

What’s it like always being wrong, cause you have it aced?

Damn, you’ve cornered the market on being wrong at this point.

Keep on “hoping” though. One day it’ll work out.

Skins were 2-2 for 38 yards on the 15 yd line when RG3 went out. Hardly losing – Cousins did look better against the Jags than Foles did though.

You are SO predictable. I said to myself Vinnie would be on here crowing about this game by Kaep. And sure enough here you are.

You’ve been predicting Kaep’s demise since they put him in the game over Smith. Since then he’s been to a super-bowl and an NFC championship game.

I guess if you keep saying it will make it true.

How Redskins Fared overall versus the Jags means very little…
Jags and Coach Gus Bradley had them preparing for Eagles since Mid-August as most Teams prepare more for their Opening Day Opponents than they do on any other game on their Schedule due to having the time to do so, plus it’s no Secret that Gus Bradley had a little chip on his Shoulder Coaching against the Team that passed him over.. Also 2-3 Jaguar Defenders were injured versus the Eagles and they have very little depth behind their Starters to begin with…
Each Week is a different game.

Cam played we’ll after a slow start..
His first full game with Thant Ankle
And limited Pre-Season Snaps..
I thought he played very well in the 2nd half
Even though WR Benjamin dropped 3-4 makeable
Catches that would have kept drives going
If Panthers can ever get a real running game,
They will be tough down the stretch..

Cam was locked onto receivers as usual and got away withsome terrible passes. Like Rodney Harrison said…he was locked on Avant the entire way…a safety worth a damn would have been all over that.

I love how y’all downplay the most dominant part of a team so QB agenda can be filled …lmao.

Cam does lock onto Recievers for too long, no doubt
On that Pass to Avant, he lasered that pass in there so quickly before the Safety was able to get over to Avant and definitely gave Avant too much room to begin with, especially in the Red-Zone..
But Hey, You take TD Passes anyway you can get them..
Like I said, for Cam’s first full Game since last January,
I thought he looked pretty good and got more accurate as the game went on…

No one downplays a dominant part of a team.

It’s just an argument folk make when they don’t like the QB – Oh the defense did it. That’s great – but you can have a great defense and no offense and struggle and not win games. Cause they keep the D on the field.

Too many folk make complaints about a guy ’cause they don’t like his game. When it’s pointed out that the numbers don’t match up with the praise or negativity, no one has anything to say.

Thats yall nonsense arguments about QBs that ultimately turn to innuendo filled race agenda and then we get a week of people arguing about Vince fucking Young lol….

Cams not a bum but hes mid level at best right now. He had Madden numbers year 1. Hes been up and down since.

They won one division title coinciding with a DOMINANT defense.

Probably the best front 7 in football.

Must take the ball out of Foles hands tonight. With his average TC and preseason and the 200 yards he left on the field vs a very average Jags defense last week the Eagles game plan should be to run the ball 35 to 40 times tonight. I would have that revamped oline run blocking all night long. Shady needs 25-30 carries with Sproles and Polk carrying the rest. Get Foles in favorable situations to make easy throws and try to keep Luck on the bench would be my game plan.

I don’t like the matchup of our WR vs their DBs at all. But I love Ertz, Celek and our RBs in the passing game. I would ride Ertz and Celek to death tonight in the passing game. I need 12 catches and about 150 yards and 2 TDs out of them two. Also I love what Sproles did last week but I don’t want to see the top RB in the NFL standing on the sidelines for whole series. McCoy needs the ball and Sproles just needs to compliment him here and there.in the run game not share. Also the defense needs to not have Richardson have his coming out party like Ingram did last year. Richardson needs to continue his 2.5 ypc and cloud of dust stats. Get Indy one dimensional and insert Graham and Curry to get after him.

I know Kelly doesn’t beleive in TOP.

But this is one game where it would be nice if they just kept the opposing offense off the field. I know they won’t use that strategy, but boy did it work wonders for San Diego against another explosive offense.

Won’t happen, Colts D versus the rain is much improved
The way to attack their Defense is they the air, in
the middle of the field between the numbers and Safeties
Utilize TE’s abs RB’s out of the backfield..
Then pooped out their large DL with the up-tempo,
Then run on them late in game..
