Notes From The Phillies’ 4-2 Loss To Toronto

CarlosRuiz2The Philadelphia Phillies lost their Grapefruit League match against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

On The Mound

  • Jerome Williams started and pitched three innings. Williams allowed one run on two hits. 
  • David Buchanan followed Williams with two innings of work, allowing a solo home run.
  • Jonathan Papelbon made his first spring appearance, striking out two in a scoreless inning of work.
  • Jesse Biddle made his debut as well, but struggled through a rough inning allowing two runs on three hits and a walk.
  • Mario Hollands, who allowed four runs in Monday’s game, bounced back with a scoreless inning.
  • Jeanmar Gomez made his second appearance, and fired a scoreless inning.

At The Plate

  • Ben Revere made his third start of the spring, and went 1-3. 
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-3, he’s batting .231 in the preseason.
  • Darin Ruf went 1-3 with a single.
  • Carlos Ruiz went 0-4 with a sacrifice groundout RBI.
  • Domonic Brown went 0-2 with a walk.
  • Brian Bogusevic had a pinch-hit RBI double.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 0-3, dropping his average to .125.
