Report: Eagles Will Sign Tim Tebow If They Can Trade Matt Barkley

TimTebow4Heisman Trophy winner and former Denver Bronco, New York Jet and New England Patriots quarterback, Tim Tebow worked out for the Eagles on Monday, then left town without a contract.   Dianna Marie Russini of NBC 4 in Washington of reports that the Birds would like to sign Tebow and will do so if they can find a trading partner that will give them something for current third-string quarterback, Matt Barkley.

It would be a shocker for Chip Kelly to sign Tebow as his third quarterback and jack of all trades.  Tebow would be a change up on the goalline of short-yardage if the Birds wanted to run the read option.  Obviously, they wouldn’t want Sam Bradford to run it or Mark Sanchez.  Kelly could put in a few gadget plays each game for Tebow.

It would come down to being able to get something for Barkley on the open market. There was a time long ago, when Barkley was in college that he was considered a can’t miss Superstar to be.  His decision to stay at USC for his senior year cost him millions of dollars because he would have been one to the top picks in the draft, at least that what some draft experts have said.

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Tom House has been working with Tebow throwing fundamentals and he says that he’s ready to play quarterback in the National Football League.

“We helped his throwing,” House told Albert Breer of the NFL Network.  “When he was released by the Patriots, because of Tom Brady, he came to us. . . . He had trouble spinning the ball and he wasn’t very accurate.  We didn’t do much conditioning or route trees or run many defenses against him.  We honestly felt we could help him with his throwing, like everyone else, but this time, he got enough reps where the change was made.”

Local Fox-29 sportscaster Howard Eskin is accusing Russini of making the story up.  The story doesn’t make sense to me.  If they liked Tebow so much why wouldn’t they sign him any way and let them both compete for a job in training camp. Hopefully we’ll find out what is really going on in a week or two.

Stay Tuned.

It seems like Chip is a spoiled little rich kid who can do anything he wants and defies his parents (the fans) just for attention. Chip doesn’t realize that there will be no mercy from the media or the fans if he fails. The smart ass press conferences, the “in Chip we trust” will all be in the past. He will be relentlessly pounded if if this team sucks. To create another circus with Tebow is pointless and dumb. Line up in a power formation with Bradford, Marriota or whomever and shove Murray down the defenses throat on the goal line if you want to score. Its not that hard. Bringing in another QB during the game never has and never will work.. Its dumb. Stop looking for attention Chip and fucking just coach.

Tebow throws the football like I do left handed very awkward. He throws like the ball is to big for his hand or its a loaf of bread.

PleaSe this Diana lady is getting duped by tebows agent or tebow makes her wet and she is trying to get at tebow.

Cmon man like howard eskin said

If they wanted to sign tebow they would as a 4th qb cheap and let him battle in camp

They arent getting a wooden nickel for Barkley. If they don’t want him it’s easier to just cut him and his 500k salary.

Truth is somewhere between chip is doing Meyer a favor or barkleys agent is trying to orchestrate a trade because they know he is done here or tebows agent is trying to drum up interest.

Tebow ain’t coming here.

A coach inthe cfl said tebow couldn’t cut it there.

Cmon man

Tebow is right up some of you guys alley! A very nice kid who can’t play!
But what would be the argument against bringing the kid in and taking Barkely’s spot? Tebow has done more in the NFL than that bum we just got rid of has done?

LOL…”petulance”…good one!

Still feeling a bit perturbed over the Foles dumping huh…LOL!

Don’t worry desert…soon Foles will be in the same category as those other failed Eagles QB’s. His name will be synonymous with Bobby Hoyer, Kevin Kolb, and other flash in the pans QB’s that the Eagles wisely dumped!

But hey, I’m just trying to soothe the pain you guys felt with losing Foles.

Bring in Tebow! Like Foles….he’s a great guy.

Tebow can ride the bench just like Foles will eventually do in St Louis

LOL!

Hey we are all Bradford fans now…maybe if he stays healthy he might win a playoff game finally or at least lead a team to the playoffs…I’m excited to watch sam work his magic….
Another non-mobile qb for chip…when is he going to get a guy to run his entire offense?

from the whatever it’s worth dept….
QB Bryce Petty had a very strong Workout Day down at Baylor per observors who attended…
He’s Big, Athletic with probably the Strongest Arm in this Draft has real Leadership Skills and is Smart & Tough and a Winner ….
I am not sure Chip Kelly is interested in him but I think he will emerge as the
2nd Best QB of this Draft Class (along with Winston) in 2 Years time…
I like this Kid..

I heard from my sources (wink, wink) that the chargers are in play for MM– They have a better franchise qb to offer Tennessee and they have a better pick 17 …. MM and the eagles continue to be the wildcard in the nfl!

problem with san diego trading rivers is it sounds like there is 0% chance rivers will relocate. he has 7 kids and he recently implied he is done if the chargers move to LA, if you ever heard him talk about his family its totally believable he would just shut it down if it meant he had to leave them or uproot them.

with that in mind though, chargers need to start thinking about the possibility of him retiring rather than moving to LA and yota would be a nice draw in socal

Walk-year QB Philip Rivers intends to play out the final season of his contract without a new deal.
“Honestly, nothing,” was Rivers’ response when asked if there was anything that would change his mind. Rivers has also changed course on the Chargers’ stadium issue. Previously, he said it wouldn’t affect talks. Now he says it will. “What we’ve established here with my growing family is hard to recreate,” Rivers said. “The good thing is I’m not under contract in a year where we’d potentially be in Los Angeles.” For his part, Chargers GM Tom Telesco declined to unequivocally say that Rivers wouldn’t be dealt. “I don’t like Philip as our QB, I love him,” Telesco said. “And I’ll go to war with him.” Per reporter Kevin Acee, there’s been speculation in league circles that the Bolts could target Oregon QB Marcus Mariota. Rivers’ San Diego status is a back-burner issue that could begin to boil. Mar 17 – 6:33 PM

USC WR Nelson Agholor will work out for the Eagles after already taking an in-house visit.
The interest seems to be real. Six of the seven players the Eagles selected last year visited the team’s headquarters and the seventh played under Chip Kelly at Oregon. Agholor shines on underneath routes and creating yards after the catch. It seems obvious the Eagles will add at least one receiver in this draft.

They will add 2 WR’s this Draft, expecially if they don’t sign a Veteran Free-Agent..
I see a Big Target, Down the Field WR early (Like Jaelen Strong) and then
a Possession type of WR like Aghlor to work in-between the Numbers (Tre McBride of William & Mary, K Lockett of Kansas, JJ Hardy of East Carolina)

I like Dorsett, but he is going to go late 1/early 2 and a bit small for what Chip likes.

I like Chris Conley from UGA in round 3. Not a fan of J. Strong at all…

I don’t know, they met with him during combine ( I know that does not mean anything at the same time.) They liked Brandon Cooks last year.
Chris conley from Georgia has good measurables, he has to catch the ball with his mitts better and work on his route running, but, he does have great speed and good size.

Agree, his hands need work, but they are big enough that I feel he can improve in this part of his game. This is where I’m at if the draft went down right now, and no trades were made…

Rd/Position

1. Fisher (OT)
2. Hundley (QB)
3. Conley (WR)
4. Geathers (S)
5. Shaw (CB)/Glenn (CB)
6. ILB
7. ILB

So-So Mock Jeff..
Love Fisher at # 20 who can Play Guard for 1 to 2 Years and then slide out to OT when Jason Peters days are done which may be sooner than we think (Like after next Season)
I am not liking QB Hundley in the 2nd Round and definitely need more help at WR besides Conley in the 3rd who didn’t exactly tear it up at University of Georgia and will be a 2 Year Work in Progress..
They need a WR in the Top 2 Rounds who can come in and contribute in Year 1…

Like the Safety and CB Picks in the 5th
2 ILB ?? The Eagles haev like 5-6 ILB on their Roster right now?
(Ryans,Kendricks,Alonso, Goode, Long, Acho )

Is Selecting more ILB’s in the 6th/7th Round going to add anymore quality Depth than the Eagle have at the Position?

Where’s OLB, DT and OL Depth ?

Dorsett in the Late 1st Round/Early 2nd Rd ??? … Really…
That’s about a good 1/2 Round too soon in my book…
I see him as a Late 2nd/Early 3rd Round at Best #50-#65 Range… He can Run Fast no doubt, but his Hands, Route Running are Questionable and he doesn’t very Block either to Play for Chip Kelly..

A lot of teams are looking for that speedster. I agree, Dorsett is more of a 3rd round guy, but the depth at a lot of positions in this draft..CB, QB, S, ILB I think will translate into certain positions where there is “more” depth/value to be over-drafted. WR I think we will see anywhere from 15-20 guys taken in the first 3 rounds.

As for the mock, can’t we count Marcus Smith as a OLB draft pick? LOL…

Agree on Hundley and Conley. I keep having a vision that Chip takes Hundley. Unless its Parker, Cooper or White in round one, the other guys in the first don’t wow me. I prefer OT/OG Collins from LSU over Fisher, but I think Giants snag in round 1.

We have Taylor Hart about to spalsh down this year..A lot depends on their plans with Thorton/Cox…Curry will be gone after this year, and there is decent depth at D-Line. Remove the ILB’s, draft some d-line

The negative on Agholor is that he plays a little timid and shy’s away from contact and is not very strong with a very lean build.. He’s not much of a Blocker or going to break many Tackles after Catch’s ..
He is quick, runs routes well and has good hands with a burst after he catch’s.. Built similar to Marquise Lee and Jeremy Maclin
He does project as a 2nd Round Prospect but I don’t believe he would be a good fit for Kelly’s Offense which requires QR’s to play and be Physical
with their Blocking in the run game… Just don’t see a fit here ..
