Doug Pederson Says The Eagles Moves Weren’t Personal

DeMarcoMurray190Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson made it clear yesterday that he has nothing against his predecessor Chip Kelly or the players that Kelly had acquired such as, DeMarco Murray, Byron Maxwell, and Kiko Alonso.

I will add that those players obviously didn’t play well last year and their contracts other than Alonso’s were ridiculous when compared to how they played .  It’s very simple, the Birds are trying to put together the best football they can.

“Listen, it’s never been about Chip Kelly’s guys,” Pederson said yesterday on the NFL HQ program on NFL Network. “For me, it’s about the Philadelphia Eagles and how we can better our roster and better our football team. I felt with Howie Roseman and myself, we’ve been able to do that this offseason so far and we’re always going to continue to try and better the team. If you’re not, you’re not moving forward so I don’t look at it that way.”

In my opinion, I think without a doubt the Eagles are in a better position now without those three players and without their contracts.   It was a good move to resign Lane Johnson, Vinny Curry, Malcolm Jenkins and every other core player they extended.   I think Pederson wanted to keep Murray, but the running back expressed a desire to go elsewhere so the obliged him.
