Former Redskins QB Joe Theisman Tears Into Sam Bradford

SamBradford1012Former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theisman who is definitely an old school kind of guy, was on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Saturday and he tore into Sam Bradford for running from competition.

“I can not believe what Sam Bradford is doing with the Philadelphia Eagles. The impression that I get is that this guy here doesn’t want to compete. He’s not interested in playing quarterback. He’s not interested in competing at the quarterback position. He wants it handed to him on a silver platter. Well that’s not the way life is.”

“If you think you’re that good, you should be able to beat out a rookie who has no earthly idea of what the NFL looks like. If the Redskins drafted somebody No. 1 and I was (in a position like) Sam Bradford and I’ve already banked $98 million, then bring it on, guys. Bring it on. And it’s disappointing to me because I like Sam. Heck, last year I did a radio show in Philadelphia and I said, ‘Sam Bradford has the ability to be a Pro Bowl player.’ Then all of a sudden Tom Condon, his agent, comes out and says, ‘Well the Eagles should have notified him.’ Bologna.”

“Strap your chin strap on, put your helmet on, put your jock on and go out and compete like somebody who wants the job. Don’t gripe about, ‘Oh, I’m not going to go to OTAs, I’m not going to do this.’ How about doing something instead of not doing something? I am just so upset over this kind of baloney from young guys. Whatever happened to having the job be important to you that you’ll do anything?”

I’ve talked to tens of former players and not one of them has taken Bradford’s side in this situation with the Eagles.

Wentzelvania.

Its out there. Interest. Excitement. Energy.

Bradford provides none of these. He knows it and is intimidated. He can’t deal. That being said, I hope he comes back, plays his best ad gets the Birds to 4-4 before the patented injury.

Sam Bradford could give a fuck what any Eagle fan thinks of him or anyone else for that matter, At the age of 28 he will have made more money than every Eagle fan that fills up the Linc has made in their whole lifetime combined all 70,000 of them.. When all is said and done he will be sitting in his home in Oklahoma and for his next 4 generations no one will never have to work if he choses. First this bullshit notion that he doesn’t want to compete is bullshit he never said that and that’s not what his message was. His message was he signed with the agreement that he would begiven a opportunity to parlay this into a long term deal if he plays well not be some fucking punching dummy for 1 year with no shot of a future hear. That’s his gripe. Its like my boss coming to me and telling me I have one year left and oh by the way your replacement is here train him for your job before you go, Fuck that. Oh and the 11 million shove it up your ass I already am filthy rich. He will come around and take the money because he wants to make another 30 or 40 million which he probably will. But hes just letting it be known he felt screwed. That’s all. 2 sides to every story like it or not.

” His message was he signed with the agreement that he would be given a opportunity to parlay this into a long term deal if he plays well ”

And that is still EXACTLY what can happen.

Condon and Bradford knew…on the last day before FA that NO ONE wanted Bradford. So they agreed to a one ear “show us” deal with the Eagles.

They knew that it was a one year deal and if he played well he’d get a big contract….either with the Birds, or after being traded to some one else.

Nothing has changed!!!!! I fucking guarantee you if Bradford wins a SUper Bowl with the Eagles they’ll sign hi to a 6 year 120 million dollar deal and everyone will REJOICE.

Nothing has changed.

If Bradford plays well either the Eagles will resign him or they will trade him.

THIS IS THE EXACT SAME THING THAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED REGARDLESS THE 2016 DRAFT.

Eagles drafted a rookie. Bradford ran away.

My mindset if I was Bradford and theres not a fucking thing you could do to me. Ahhhh now fans are sucking owners and teams jocks by saying “honor their contract”?” What a load of bullshit when teams don’t honor players contracts and cut them,. That’s laughable .If I was Bradford I would tell the Eagles and your fans I don’t owe any of you shit. You can boo all you want because that’s all your # 1 at with all your sports.teams. Passionate my ass every city has passionate fans eg Cleveland. Intelligent? hahah go to their websites or listen to talk radio they are some dumb MF. I will be in when I have to, and take your money, play not to get hurt and move on to another team and make millions. Enjoy your misery while I remain filthy rich. Oh and bye the way your new shiny #2 pick don’t ask me shit figure it out yourself.

Oh and one last thing Philly fans is all I needed to know is when I got to Philly is when a whole city Idolizes a movie and a fictional character who cant put a sentence together” Adrian aint gonna be no rematch” that’s all I needed to know. lol just sayin if I was Sam.

Lol, if Bradford plays not to get hurt it will be recognized by the players and other teams. Who is going to pay him millions for playing scared. He did not get any interest this off season for the way he played in 2015. How will he make millions and generate interests by putting forth less effort? That’s laughable. Sam is delusional as he continues to try to play the #1 over all pick card. That’s old and done away with.
Sam does not have to care what Eagles fans think, I don’t care if he does or does not. Sam just has to come in and play. If he jakes it this year, his team mates and teams from around the league will lose more respect for him. At the end of the day he’s a rented player who decided to sign a contract. The Eagles were and are not responsible or obligated to tell Sam what their future plans are, nor has he done anything to deserve or command that type of respect. He’s a player who has been on the team for 1 year and played average at best. He is not management.

The only thing I care about is for Bradford to play well and not get hurt this year so the Eagles can trade him and get a decent draft pick. I mean that’s what it really boils down to. Regardless if he plays well or not, he’s not going to remain with the Eagles. Deep RB draft class for 2017. We need to stock pile picks

DMAN, my thoughts exactly..100% agree with you. I hope he plays lights out. Then we can trade him next off season and gain a high draft pick for him. Great asset…that’s why you do not trade him for peanuts now.

Sam Bradford accepted a two year deal from the Eagles because there was no market demand for him that was going to pay him anywhere near what the Eagles gave him. If Tom Condon would have heard that a team was ready to give Bradford big money over four years he would have taken it. Please let’s not get bamboozled into thinking that Bradford has some loyalty or allegiance to the Eagles.Bradford wanted the Eagles to use the draft picks on players that would help his bid to perform at a higher level to maximize his next contract offer. Bradford’s thinking was if I play really well this season I can parlay that into a long term big money deal to the highest bidder for his services. He wouldn’t have taken a home team discount to stay in Philly so let’s please stop with the Bradford feels betrayed narrative. He declined a long term extension during Chip’s regime last season..why? He bet on himself…and lost.

Basically the Eagles will Get the 2016 Season out of Bradford and thenTrade him next Off-Season for at best a 2nd Round Pick but most likely a 3rd to 4th Round Pick if he remains Healthy.. Any Serious Injury to Knee or his Shoulder or Concussions and his Trade Value will be minimal as it is right now…

Exactly Pman. So let’s hope he has an injury free season and plays at a top level. A 2nd round pick in exchange for Bradford would be great for the Eagles. We don’t have a 1st round pick in 2017, but we do have a 2nd round pick. One more 2nd round pick would be stellar

Realistically there are very Few Teams now that need a QB for 2017 barring an Injury to their Current Starters , Bradford, even if he plays well will not be in big demand and the Eagles will be fortunate to get a 4th Rounder..
Is all the Distractions and Negativity of Keeping Sam Bradford around for 2016
Really worth a 4th Round Pick? This is what the Eagles really have to decide moving forward.., are they just better off going with Chase Daniels with Wentz waiting in the Wings and quicken up the “grooming process” instead of Wentz
Sitting behind an unlinked, unrespected lame-duck QB who doesn’t want to be in Philly.. I say cut th chord with Bradford, Eat the $$$ and rebuild with their New QB, New Coaching Staff, Schemes, etc, etc…
Why waste the 2016 Season on Sam Bradford?

Kaepernick signed a contract but 49er GM Baalke and Bronco President Elway tried to shame him to slash the value in half to trade him. No Media Head Analysts like Theisman are vilifying those 2 with this compete honor your contract narrative.

Fletcher Cox is … wonder if Fletcher’s agent asked to be traded ? probably, Howie conveniently hasn’t leaked that though.
Jason Peters didn’t stay home but he hung out in the training room for the last quarter of the 2015 season not willing to play for the Chipper any more. The 2 highest players on offense ( Bradford and Peters) and the best player on the team ( Cox ) not giving their all for Jeffery.

You got some wild thoughts, eagles0~

Jason Peters is under contract until 2018, and he is well paid. Peters doesn’t benefit at all by under-performing. If Peters gets cut or loses his starting job for under-performing, his career is over. He will never pickup-up a job earning $9 million/year. And it would cost the Eagles peanuts in dead money to cut him….

Fletcher Cox is also under contract, and would be a fool to sit-out or ask for a trade. He’ll be a free-agent at the end of the year. If his butt hurts he’ll wait till his contract is up to get out… But he will have a new deal shortly….
