I think the eagles spot at 14 is pretty accurate– people really don’t know what they have in Wentz and Pederson — i’m sure at some point they will fall from super natural to just regular humans.
With all the talk about how bad the browns and bears are the one thing that gets lost is yes they are not good teams, the eagles should have beaten both and THEY DID– they beat them good, that doesn’t always happen in the NFL, as a matter of fact it doesn’t happen often– soundly drubbing a bad team is a real good sign– they took both of those teams hearts away- they will be in battles this year– the key for them is to be in every game, even against the upper crust teams–

That’s a spot on post hac, being close to super bowl contenders will show how good we are, I’m not scared of Steelers especially at home, I believe we win 28 20, their secondary is worst then ours, we have way better safeties and corners are even, hit big Ben and sack him 4 times and double brown and we should win

John Clark from the Comcast Sports Network reported the Steelers play zone in the secondary which is different than the Browns and Bears who played man to man. He is curious to see how Wentz handles a different defensive style in the passing game.

well if thats the case lets hope they can get a little running game going and force another in the box and get the linebackers cheating up to stp the run…

Sounds good on paper hac, but so far this season I can’t say that I have been very impressed with what we have shown in the run game. The OLine has not handled either the Browns nor the Bears very effectively, and I question how we used the backs in the Bears game.

Pederson fell in love with the pass, much the way Big Red did, in the Bears game. I am not sure that we have made the run game a big enough priority with this team that we can just “turn it on” when we need to go to it. I hope I am wrong, but it looks like we are set up to live and die with Wentz. A lot of pressure for the rookie, but I am excited to see how he does against on of the strongest teams in the NFL. GO BIRDS !!!

green fan– I think if you were to sit in the room with the coaching staff they would tell you:
1. defenses have been taking away the run and daring wentz to pass– that will stop as he continues to pick them apart.
2. tough to judge how their run game is if they were taking it away.
3. ‘fell in love w/the pass’– well that first drive w/o a RB in the game… he was like 6 for 6 in short passes– marched down the field– those are just running plays.
4. a defense can’t take away both run and pass usually– eagles took what they gave- those defenses dared wentz to beat them– he did– that will change.

I would LOVE a chance to be in the QB room during these discussions.

No doubt that they look back at how other teams defensed them to plan on going forward with the next gameplan. Right now we will get a good look at what Pederson / Reich can do going against one of the strongest teams in the league. It will be a good benchmark for where this team is at after 3 games. I hate that we have the bye so early in the season, it will be a looong 2 weeks till the next game.

On your point #3, that first drive without a RB and the 6 straight passes. The Bears still tried to pressure Wentz and he made precise throws, more than just a short pass = run game type of drive.

If you were in an offensive meeting you would probably never say, “Pederson fell in love with the pass” or “we have made the run game a big enough priority”… these guys spend a hundred hours a week studying this crap– this week they may start 3 tights with wentz under center– there is a reason for them coming out spread with no back– it was a look they thought they could use to exploit something– it also gave them and other teams something else to prepare for …. the nfl coaching world is a very interesting and intense place…

You’re right. I would call him Dougie.

Making statements like that could have value, maybe giving a different perspective. Just as you mentioned the hundreds of hours each week the coaching group spend on a game plan, this doesn’t preclude tunnel vision setting in, or play calling within the game moving away from one intended aspect. I AM NOT SAYING THAT IS HAPPENING WITH THIS GROUP OF COACHES…in fact, I am very impressed with the game plan, play calling and inventive way that Pederson / Reich are scheming to put their players in good positions to succeed. That being said, I want to know more about why they were using Sproles in more of a powerback situation and using Matthews as a speed back outside. I also want to know why we are not seeing more sets with the TE’s and DGB in the Redzone. No big deal, and will watch how we scheme in the future and how we use our personnel.

Well all coaching staffs with the exception (apparently ) of chip Kelly self scout…. Pick up their own tendencies etc to avoid tunnel vision but coaches can be stubborn. As for TE sets in the RZ…. Damn that play to burton was great and had 3 TE even tho we only had two dressed! dGB will get his shots I’m sure.

Wentz is heading down the wrong path.not by any fault of his own and there is nothing he can do about it. All this talk on every media outlet is starting to wear thin in opposing defenses locker rooms and every defensive coordinators meetings wants to shut the media up and knock this Wentz talk up. You dont hear as much talk about Prescott who honestly has played just as well and is a 3rd or 4th round pick. Like I said its not Wentz’s fault but it almost seems like its going down the Tebow trail as far as media attention. lol. He just better protect himself.

Are u kidding ? No dak has played nowhere near as good as wentz. When dak was lighting up preseason everyone on all news outlets were dick riding dak. Dak blows can’t even light up dez

And no wentz isn’t going down your imaginary wrong path. He’s going down the right one. The one were he shows up to nova care at 530 am every day, leads his team, makes the right plays and wins. But if you don’t wanna be scared go for it

It’s Philly Dag, what did you expect ??
If Wentz starts off fast, as he has, then he’s a Savior and the 2nd Coming.. .
If he Started off Slow or Struggles, then he’s a Bum….
It is what it is, you may as well Enjoy it!!!

The Story of the 2016 NFL Season so far is How the Young/New QB’s are Playing whether it’s Wentz, Simeian,Prescott, Garrapollo, Brissett or even Bradford in Minnesota and Osweiler in Houston .. New QB’s are playing in Cleveland & Chicago this week & probably soon out in LA as well..
Almost a 1/3rd of the NFL have new or different QB’s Playing than they did last Season and right now the Eagles have a very promising one, so Enjoy it!!

If he wasn’t getting hype then he wouldn’t be shit and it would be because he wAsnt being dominant.

Good make him a target that’s what separates the greats… you think the greats aren’t targets. Sheeeeet. He was blitzed early and often both games because they were targeting the rookie, and wentz stared down that barrel and lit they ass up. If anything he gonna start getting some respect and more zones and more 4 man rushes imo

Dak Prescott has not even managed to throw a TD pass yet with weapons such as Witten and Dez to target. Wentz is light years ahead of Dak Prescott in terms of understanding defensive concepts. Wentz reads defenses and audibles accordingly, Prescott is not there yet. As far as talent they are both mobile. Wentz is better against the blitz..check the stats. I’d take Wentz over Prescott every day, it’s not even close..he’s bigger, has a cannon, is accurate and has a leader mentality. Not saying Dak does not, but I prefer Wentz..period.
All of the Dak preseason hype has died down simply because he has not played as well as he did during the preseason. The Wentz hype is there because of how he has performed during the regular season thus far. Rookie of the week in week 1. Only rookie QB to win first two games without throwing a pick. Went into Soldier field and demonstrated poise..even against pressure.
Wait until the Eagles O line becomes more solid and the weapons get better at WR and RB..Wentz will put on a show.
This is Eagles land…Fuck Dak Prescott.

Amen EHL. I agree 100%. Could not have said it better. If anyone is incorrectly hyped it is Prescott, all because he is in Dallas. Wentz is light years ahead of him in his recognition of defenses, pre snap adjustments and touch on his passes. I agree, watch what this kid will do with a better offensive line, better rb’s and wr’s that will catch the ball. GO BIRDS !!!!

Pman, you’re all over the place. When the Eagles moved up to pick two you stated the Eagles should draft Wentz to be their franchise QB. After Wentz got hurt you said Wentz was not a franchise QB and the Eagles should have taken Dak Prescott…you named a couple of other QB’s but I forget who they were. You loved Dak during the preseason and I said wait until the regular season starts when defenses weren’t vanilla and teams planned for him. Dak has remained poised and has his moments of escaping the rush..but he’s been dinking and dunking and has been inaccurate when he passes against the rush…unlike Wentz who’s been deadly accurate against the blitz to the point that the Browns and Bears stopped blitzing him.

Carson Wentz is not a Franchise QB and won’t be for a few Years if he ever becomes one..
The Eagles gave up the 8th, 77th & 100th Picks in 2016 Draft which ended up being OT Jack Conklin, CB Daryl Worley and QB Connor Cook.
Then they gave up a 1st Round Pick in 2017 Draft (which probably ends up being a Pick in the Top 12) and then gave up a 3rd Round Pick in 2018 (Probably in the 80th Range)

If Wenz becomes a True Franchise QB, then its a Great Deal for the Eagles
If he simply develops into an Average QB in 2-3 Years time , then the Eagles take a hit with these lost Future Picks and if Wentz is bad, then it’s a disaster for the Eagles for the next 5 Years ….
Wents hardly playing at all this Summer is already a lost year
He will go into Camp next Summer still an Unknown, Once the Season starts rolling next Week, a 3rd String QB just simply does not get the Reps during a usual 3 Day Practice Week that the NFL runs .. There is just not much time that he will have during the Season developing a real rapport with his Receivers, OL, RB,s etc which he will have to wait until Next Off-Season to really accomplish.. Now if there is an injury to Bradford/Daniles, then Wentz Reps will increase during the Practices during the Season, but as a 3rd String He will be the Scout QB during the Week and Dressed in Sweats during the Games watching

I liked and supported the Drafting of Carson Wentz
What I did not like and stated numerous times,as well as other Posters, was the HC Pederson Stated Plan of sitting him all 2016 Season behind Bradford & Daniel which I thought was stupid after all the trading up just to get him inthe first place.
It took a season-ending and possibly career-ending Injury to the Vikings QB Tedy Bridgewater to change everything and the time table for Wentz to even Play as Doug Pederson’s Stated Plan was to Play Bradford for the Season as long as he was healthy which I had little interest in following the Eagles with a lame duck QB in Sam Bradford..

I believe Pederson was told by Roseman & Owner Lurie to play Wentz once the Bradford Deal was consummated and was not Pederson’s Own Plan as he would have likely gone with Daniels as his opening Day Starter ..
Either way, none of it matters now as Trade was made, Wentz is healthy and the Starter, and Daniels is the Back-Up QB as he should be..

What a lousy Draft for QB’s the 2016 Draft was… The Eagles will likely regret giving up what they did going all in for Carson Wentz who also will likely be Inactive for most of the 2016 Season barring Injury to Bradford/Daniel…

Anyone watch Christian Hackenburg of the Jets Play or Cardale Jones of the Bills Play or Connor Cook of the Raiders, they have looked pretty bad..

3-4 QB’s from the 2016 Draft have looked good this Summer
1) Dak Prescott – 4th Rounder for the Cowboys
2) Jacoby Brissett – 3rd Rounder for the Patriots
3) Jeff Driskel – 6th Rounder for the 49ers
4) Nate Sudfeld – 6th Rounder of the Redskins

Who said they would regret Drafting Wentz.. I simply stated if your trading up multiple times together your QB with the #2 Pick, then he should be your 1st Option from day 1.. If Bridgewater doesn’t get hurt, Wentz is I street clothes not even Active in2016 barring Injury.. It’s what Coach Pederson stated since March and now you don’t want to believe that.. That’s fine for I could give a rats ass on what you think… Everything changed once Bridgewater went down and Howie pounced and took advantage and got a great deal I returngfor the desperate Bikings who are built to Win now, then2nd component is that Lurie/Roseman instructed Pederson, “Play the Kid, Now” as Lurie knew how much little excitement and overall interest was lacking with the aFan Base about the 2016 Eagles Season with Bradford as #1 Starter with Daniels as the Backup and Wentz in a red-shirt year learning year Owner Lurie was not going to go for that and the Bridgewater injury, Bradford Trade changed all our fortunes from a lousy season to now an exciting one.. Sometimes it pays off being fortunate and Howie/Speilman made it happen after the Bridgewater Injury.. If not for this , we would see HC Pederson trotting out Sam Bradford to Start tomorrow…

pman, when you start off by saying that the 2016 draft was a lousy QB class, then follow that up with the Eagles will likely regret taking Wentz who was in that class makes it pretty clear that you feel that Wentz..perhaps was not worthy of moving up for or selecting him# 2 overall. Further, in another post you state that Wentz will not be a franchise QB. So with that being said, theres not much room to infer what you meant. Whether Wentz played or not in 2016 would have no bearing on if there was regret due to the fact that the original plan was to sit him for a year so the Eagles believed he was going to be a franchise QB with that being the plan, so why would sitting him leave them with regrets?

Jesus you guys get on here and attack each others manhood and throw personal shots over football.Wentz is our qb everybody just get behind this kid and stop with the pointless debates.

Match-up for me to watch is the steelers Oline versus our Dline. This group has held up pretty damn well against Dallas’s Oline. However it is a little different playing a team outside the division and conference for that matter.

Going to be very interesting to see if we can get to Big Ben. It Will be the only determining factor if the birds are undefeated going into there bye week.
Steelers Oline might be the best group we have faced in a long time.

On a side note I will be attending my aunt and uncle’s wedding. My uncle grew up in Polk County florida with the pouncey twins. Both will be there. Literally the nicest guys in the world.

Maurkice might just be the best center in the NFL.
