Notes From The Phillies’ 5-1 Loss To Texas

The Philadelphia Phillies lost their second straight game on Tuesday night, falling to the Rangers 5-1. Their record drops to 14-22.

On The Mound

  • Jerad Eickhoff turned in his best start in over a month, allowing two earned runs over six innings.
  • Eickhoff gave up seven hits and two walks.
  • Eickhoff struck out eight batters.
  • It was the first time in three starts that Eickhoff has given up less than four runs.
  • Mark Leiter mopped up the last two innings, and gave up two runs to put the game out of reach.

At The Plate

  • The offense managed just one run on only four hits.
  • Freddy Galvis drove in the lone run in the seventh inning.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 0-3 with a walk.
  • Odubel Herrera went 1-4 with a single.
  • Aaron Altherr turned in an 0-4.
  • Tommy Joseph served as the team’s DH, going 1-4.
  • Michael Saunders went 0-4.
  • Maikel Franco continues to hit sixth, and went 1-4 with a double, the team’s only extra base hit.
  • Cameron Rupp went 0-3.
  • Brock Stassi played first and went 0-3.

Final Thoughts

The Phillies just can’t figure out how to win games right now.

After starting the season 11-9, the team is just 3-13. If you remove their six-game winning streak from the equation, the team is just 8-22.

I don’t think they’re quite as bad as their record of late, but right now this is just a lost team that doesn’t have a lot of answers.
