Notes From The Phillies’ 5-1 Loss To Arizona

The Philadelphia Phillies lost their second straight game on Saturday night, falling to the Diamondbacks 5-1. Their record drops to 22-45.

On The Mound

  • Jerad Eickhoff finally turned in a decent outing, allowing just one run over six innings.
  • Eickhoff gave up just five hits and walked two.
  • Edubray Ramos blew up in the seventh inning, allowing two runs and failing to record an out.
  • Casey Fien took over in the seventh, and allowed a run of his own to score.
  • Adam Morgan, miraculously, struck out the side in a scoreless eighth.
  • Luis Garcia mopped up with a scoreless ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up one lousy run on nine hits.
  • Andrew Knapp went 1-2 with a walk, and drove in the team’s only run in the sixth inning.
  • Odubel Herrera went just 1-5 with a single and struck out three times.
  • Howie Kendrick went 2-5 with a couple of singles.
  • Aaron Altherr went just 1-5 with a single.
  • Tommy Joseph went 1-4 with a single and a walk.
  • Maikel Franco went 0-3, but drew two walks.
  • Michael Saunders got a start in the outfield after sitting most of the week, and went 2-4 with a double.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-3 with a single.

Final Thoughts

The Phillies have lost 10 of their last 11 games.

Thank goodness we’ve had Eagles mini camp and the Sixers trade for Markelle Fultz going on.
