Eagles: Winston Justice Underwent Successful Surgery Today

The Eagles just released a statement concerning the surgery which was performed today for right tackle Winston Justice. Here is the totality of the statement.

“Eagles T Winston Justice underwent a successful debridement (clean out) of his knee by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama today.”

Obviously all the talk about Justice undergoing a career-threatening surgery is untrue. I’m sure the Birds wouldn’t be releasing this statement, if Justice had undergone a “microfracture” surgery, so we can put that in the review mirror.

I have a question for every1. Would any1 sign Jeremy Shockey to a 1or 2 year deal? I still think he has a lil left in the tank. What do u guys think….

i dont really think he has much left to give, if we signed him i dont think he would get too much time. Celek and harbor will be the tight ends, they’ll bring in someone else to compete along with ingram but thats about it in tight ends

Shockey…..depends on if we are overpaying or not. If he wants a similar deal then I think we should save all our money from Asomugha and an offensive lineman. But if he was cheap and came here at a discounted price to get us to the SB then I’m all for it.

Shockey is an old broken down player. Theres gotta be better, younger and healthier options.

the only way i see us getting a tight end would be a trade during the draft, but it would be one worth a 5th

This is good news indeed, Justice will imprve under Coach Mudd’s system..
As far as Shockey, there will be little interest from the Eagles,, He’s been injury prone the last few seasons, not really the best locker-room guy and just doesn’t add much in the blocking area to really make a differenc for them..

ALL YALL TALKING BOUT JUSTICE GONNA BE BETTER, YALL NEED TO HUSH. It doesnt matter who the coach is. Either you have talent or you dont. This dude was getting Vick drilled every time we played a good defense. HE IS NOT AN NFL STARTING CALIBER RT. THE EAGLES BETTER QUIT BULLSHITTIN AND GO OUT AND GET A REAL RT IN FA OR THE DRAFT.

JUSTICE IS REALLY NO BETTER THAN DUNLAP. THEY BOTH SUCK. AND DONT BELONG IN THE NFL. SHIP THEM TO THE UFL.

Supabad obviously doesn’t know football very well..
Justice is a middle of the road, average Starting RT in the NFL and Dunlap is probably one of the Better 3rd/Back-up OT’s in the NFL..
Look around the league Supbad.. OT’s are not very plentiful or growing on trees

I wouldn’t make such a strong comment Pman. That post is mostly written in caps, therefore it must be accurate. Why do people use caps, it just proves you’re not the sharpest tool in the shed. Not that we are curing cancer or making any great contributions to society with our posts.

I ask anyone to go thru the NFL Teams Rosters and find me a 3rd String/Back-up OT who is significantly better than K Dunlap…
Also, name me the top Starting RT’s in the NFL while your at it…

Good article regarding why Urban went to the Bengals…..looks like they will pay him during a work stoppage. This was in the Delco Times this morning.

By BOB GROTZ
bobgrotz@gmail.com

There was no doubt about who approved the latest change to the Eagles’

coaching staff.

Andy Reid, Eagles head coach/executive vice president of football operations, gave assistant offensive coordinator James Urban his blessing to join the Cincinnati Bengals as their wide receivers coach.

In the strange but true department, Urban has more immediate job security with the Bengals than if he remained with the Eagles. The Bengals are among a handful of NFL teams who will pay their coaching staff for the duration whether or not there is a work stoppage. Eagles assistants and organization staff are unaffected by salary or work reductions for an unspecified, but limited period of time if the owners and the NFL Players Association fail to agree on a new collective bargaining agreement by midnight March 3.

The ever-elusive Urban, who resides in Drexel Hill, was unavailable for comment.

Last week Urban told the Daily Times he was comfortable raising his family in the Aronimink section of Drexel Hill and working for the Eagles after being promoted to assistant offensive coordinator. It was not immediately clear what changed his mind other than a modest bump-up in authority. What is obvious is Reid gave Urban permission to leave, according to a team spokesman.

In Cincinnati, Urban will work under Jay Gruden, the new offensive coordinator who runs a variation of the scheme favored by his brother Jon Gruden, the former NFL head coach.

“This is a wonderful opportunity coming to work with (head coach Marvin) Lewis,” Urban told Enquirer. “It allows me to continue to expand my knowledge base and work in a different organization and contribute to what we’re doing. There are some similarities in the verbiage and the concepts and some familiarity there. I’ve heard great things about Jay and am excited about working with him.”

When Jon Gruden quietly visited the Eagles a couple of weekends ago, it almost certainly included a bit of fact-finding about the 37-year old Urban, who succeeds Mike Shepherd, all but run out of town following a year working with divas Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens. Shepherd took a job as quarterbacks coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bengals fans are discriminating. They haven’t gotten over the departure of wide receivers coach Hue Jackson, who developed Ochocinco (when he was Chad Johnson) and T.J. Houshmandzadeh into elite talents. Ochocinco likely will return for the 2011 season; Owens will be looking for work.

LOL….Was Shockey really being discussed as an option?
We need to make changes in places we are weak…the TE is one of the last positions that need to be addressed.

TE is not a priority and can be addressed thru the Draft..
There are 4 on Roster as of Today in Celek,Harbor,Ingram and Naibone…

Paulman just says the most outlandish stuff to get attention. Paulman if you’re dead serious about Winston Justice, you either have no memory or you are the dumbest person on earth. He is horrible. Absolutely horrible! He got Mcnabb creamed and he got Vick licked.

I disagree RTB,
W Justice is a middle of the road, average RT in the NFL.. stop your nonsense
is he going to give up sacks and miss assingments, sure he will, look at the 32 Teams in the NFL at the RT postions, Justice is right in the middle and hopefullty can improve to be in the top 10 or so at his position but to say he is horrible is not accurate if you follow the NFL..

I’m going to tell you right now the Eagles will draft a RT in the first round. You can quote me.
