ESPN Report: Vick Will Be Gone If He Doesn’t Lead Eagles To Playoffs

ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s “Tweeted” that the Eagles will part ways with quarterback Michael Vick, unless he leads the team to the playoffs.  That’s not hard for me to believe.  If we were at the end of the season and Vick had been unable to lead them to playoffs,  the Birds would be saying good-bye to him.

Here’s what the Tweet says:  “Unless Michael Vick leads Eagles to the playoffs, league sources believe that this will be the quarterback’s last season in Philadelphia.”

If the Eagles were to dump Vick prior to February 6th, they wouldn’t be obligated to pay any more of the $100 million dollar contract which he signed a year ago.

The Eagles have played only six games and Vick has already turned the ball over a total of 13 times.   He threw two bad interceptions today.  Both were bad decisions.

On the first INT, Jason Avant wasn’t looking back, when Vick wanted to get the ball to him, but he started looking back later on in the route, but the quarterback had a pass rusher in his face at that moment.  He should have abandoned the route, but the Birds signal caller decided to make a blind throw deep down the field with a pass rusher in his face.  He and the Eagles paid for the mistake.

The second interception was a throw deep downfield to DeSean Jackson, but he was closely covered by two Lions defenders.  Vick showed off his arm strength on the play, but wound up with another interception on his record.

turning this team over to vick has proven to be the biggest mistake of the AR era. a mistake that will ultimately cost him his job. Vick has turned the ball over like 40 times in the last 28 games. even the apologist have to admit he is a terrible QB… it was a nice redemption story but he is a terrible QB… he will end up in buffalo or someplace as a back up;

I agree VInnie and I want them all gone, Vick, Coach AR, MM, MUdd and the all Defensive Coaches outside of Dcondrady Coach Todd Bowles..
Fire DC Castillo and Washburn and scrap this Wide-9 Garbage and hire a competent, experienced, real D/C to install a more balanced approach

I think Vick’s Carrer is over this Season,
Look around the NFL what Team needs him and his Turnovers and baggage
Look at some the Teams playing younger QBs like Seahawks,Vikings,Dolphins,Browns,Titans,Bills,Bengals,Colts,Redskins,Panthers, Are any of the Teams going to scrape their young Franchise Players for a 33-34 Year Old medicore NFL QB.. The Only Team I could see taking a chance on him next Year in 2013 would be the Arizona Cardinals/ KC Chiefs for many Teams in the NFL have already moved forward with using recent High Draft Picks for their QB of the furture..

wonderful insight from Adam….

if the Eagles dont make the playoffs, the coaching staff and Vick are all gone…

this will be Fole’s team and whoever they bring in …..please be Boise State’s Chris Peterson…. he is the next up and coming great coach in football.

I would drive to the airport and pick Dungy up myself. I’m beyond sick of this moron we have as a head coach. Only an idiot like Reid would sign and annoit qb with Vick’s unique skill set; give him a high school oline; and use him ass backwards. The venom against Vick a exspect from the idiot fanbase. There is no middle ground with me. You can not blame Vick for statnding behind center with his so called limitations as so many of you azzholes claim, and pad it with Reid needs to go too. The fact we don’t have a oline like Houston’s and a qb like Shaub, or Brees, or Brady or any pocket passer of competence is all on Reid not the guy you say doesn’t have the skill or “competence to run Reid’s bullshit offense.

Here’s a name to think
JAy Gruden who is the younger Brother of Jon Gruden
I believe he is the OC for the Bengals and has helped with the Development of young QB Andrew Dalton very well… Could be a name to look out for
The Eagles will not Hire a known retired Coach like Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher, Joe Gibbs, Billick,Dennis Green,etc,etc.. It will be a younger, high energy
type of fellow who has had sucess at the Coordinator Level but who knows the Pro Game at the NFL Level..

I wouldn’t mind Dennis Green.

He knows how to get an offense going in the right direction, and totally leans on the running game.
I wouldn’t mind Wade Phillips, as long as we get a real good offensive coordinator.

I am starting to hope Vick does not come back next season….Let him go somewhere where he is appreciated! Bring in the Foles experiment and let his confidence get ruined….Aint no QB on this Eagles roster got a chance behind that O Line, especially if the coaches continue to call 7 step drops! All I say is run the same damn offense with Foles or who ever the QB will be after Vick….

That was just my rant…I still have much faith that this Eagles team will make the playoffs led by Vick!

A Paulman Report on GCobb,
Eagles Owner Jeff Lurie in Negoitiations to Sell the Philadelphia Eagles to English successful Businessman Richard Branson who intends to move the Eagles by 2020 to London to play in expanded NFL League which will have 2 European teams to help Grow the Sport.. a Sad time in Philly right now..

There are no more nasty Defenses in the NFL anymore SOngs,
It’s about scoring 30-35 Pts anymore..
Even traditionally strong Defensive Teams like Ravens,Steelers,Bears,Giants are not particular strong Defensively anymore…
About Pass-Protections and Pass-Rushing and the Eagles Suck in both of these areas and yes some of the blame goes to Coaches Mudd and Washburn who have been getting a free pass for too damn long in my opinion
This Wide-9 Is Garbage in Todays NFL

TO RT
Vick can’t make it in PHilly under AR Pass-Happy QB friendly System , then he can’t make it anywhere..
There will not be much interest at all in Vick’s Services.. Think of McNabb, McNair, VY at the end of their playing days, these guys didn’t get many chances once they were seen as older players past their primes and skills eroding and none of them were conseidered cerebrial QB’s and relied more on their Athletic Ability and those skills wore down, they were nothing but average to below average QB’s and that’s the way it was with them and that’s the way I expect it to go with Vick..
Many Teams in Need of a QB over the last 2 Years have already addressed their need and don’t neen a 33-34 High paid, under-achiever to come in ..
WHo would be interested in Vick at this Stage of his Career.. maybe Arizona, or KC CHiefs..that’s about it.. He’s done and you can post a fork thru him

Had the Eagles stuck with the quick reads, Eagles win the game…MM trying to go for the jugular on those deep routes late in the game, behind an O Line that struggled all damn game was the problem!
Bell is ass, Reynolds is exactly what he is, inexperienced, Herremenns did not play that well yesterday either….

Why aren’t you saying anything about the O Line? McCoy couldnt do shit, he had a little over 1yard per carrry, that Vick’s fault too?….Anyone have a problem with McCoy’s production? No, because we know the O Line did not do a good job in the run game, as they got dominated at the line of scrimmage….But in the passing game Vick is supposed to make something out of nothing on those 7 step drops, yeah, give it a rest! Vick provided the Eagles offense on Sunday, like it or not! 60 yards rushing (some critical first downs) 300 yards passing….

Paulman you are dead wrong. This has nothing to do with Vick. This is all Howard Mudd. Marty and Andy. There isnt a QB on earth that could thrive in this system behind this oline calling these long developing plays. Ask the Giants how good Tom Brady is with a constant pass rush. When Vick is protected he actually is damn good. But for him to take a beating like he does is comical. People say well get rid of the ball quick.lol. Marty likes to run his recievers 80 yards down field. . Nick Foles? Are you kidding me. You wanna stick Nick friggin Foles behind that line because in the preseason he looked good? Yeah that will work. Get rid of the coaching staff. Thats the problem. 28 year old 1st round pick that cant play. unbelievable. Lets keep him in.

Vick Sucks plain and simple fellas, hate to break the news, but it’s no suprise to anyone of us that has paid attention to his 10 Year medicore Career..
He’s not bright enough to play NFL QB in todays more complicated Defenses.
Teams has gone-nowhere with him the last 2 Years,so whats makes you and anyone else that a bulb is going to all of a suden go off in his brain and all of a sudden start playign smart football consistently.. I’m sorry, but he does not have that capacity to do so and never has at the NFL Level..
He had a one-time great stretch for 6 weeks when he first starting playing again in 2010 (half against shitty teams too (Lions,Jaguars<Redksins) but thats another storty for another day.. The man is not anywher close to a Top #10 QB and more like #20-#25 in the entire NFL bases on his Stats and Productions and f this "he's tough shit" already, Just Win Games

Well FOles and Edwards were playing behind 2nd & 3rd teamers and seems to get rid of the ball and actually led the Eagles Offense on lots of Scoring Drives if I recall back in SUmme and they didn’t get to play with McCoy,Celek,D-JAx or Macln much either, so whats the haarm in trying, FOles is the Future and not VIck who will be released after this Season for Contract Purposes, so you may as well find out about Foles this year and the sooner the better in my opinion… Vick’s a has-been

UMMM Paul,,, Vick got rid of the ball just fine yesterday….it was on the 7 step drops that gave him trouble….thats right I forgot, you only saw the highlights and what the media is reporting…you didnt actually watch the game! right? honestly you really need to re read your comment it is utterly asinine!

playing against 2nd and 3rd teamers too, right Paul…against some players that aren’t even active on an NFL roster, right?….

Team has not gone anywhere with him the last 2 years? is that all Vick? how about the O Line? how about the play calling? Paulman, you never cease to surprise me….10 point lead with 5 mins to go is all on Vick, you are right!

I really beginning to think ya’ll don’t really like Foles.

Anybody see Kolb lately. Dude ain’t even taking 7 step drops and he’s being put on his ASS almost instantly. Why? Cause his line SUCKS.

I read on another Eagles sight fans complaining ’cause Shady is not having that great of a year this year compared to last year. Really now? Well how is that O-Line looking?

The OLINE is causing us games. You can’t say Vick hasn’t been able to beat the blitz – he’s been doing that with relative ease several games now. And he’s getting SLAUGHTERED – whether it’s a completion, not a completion, hell he’s getting hammered on HAND OFFS to the running back.

If ya’ll really wanted Foles to be your quarterback of the future you DO NOT want him playing behind this line. Not. At. All. The center can’t even snap the damn ball properly.

LOL. Sure put the rookie in. See what happens. Opposing defense will eat that boys lunch like Biden did Ryan. lol

Paulman Paulman. Now you know they are not running the same shit they ran in the preseason. This oline is not the same and the pressure is nowhere near the same. Let me explain this to you Paulman. Its exactly like when McNabb would get hurt and a Feely or Garcia would come in. The WHOLE DAMN GAMEPLAN would change. All of the sudden they would run the ball. All of the sudden there were no 7 step drops. It was a short passing game. Thier whole philosophy would change. They actually do it 1-2 times a year with Vick and McNabb and we ALL say WOW what a great gameplan. Then guess what we go back to the 50 passess and LONG developing deep throws. Now this year this is the worst oline in the f*&*ing league bar NONE. And fans have the ordacity to blame the QB are you kidding me? To have to play behind that garbarge is ridiculous.

either is the Offense’steammates or anythign else in Pre-season so it’s all relative Dag since all are playing Vanilla Schemes on both sides of the ball.. I could give a Rrat’s Ass about Vick’s personal life or dog crap or wahtever personal baggage he may carry from his past, All I want is a smart and productive QB to lead my Team and Vick is incapabable of this, So I want a Change for it can’t be any worse that what we have now..

I posted this on the other thread….but I’m putting it here too…’cause the questions are worth discussion….Real, ts, daggoldne…what are your answers?

Does the team need a change or not? You good with the Status Quo?

Of course not. Everyone knows there must be a change.

Where then? Backup LB not going to cut it anymore. Coaches aren’t going to be fired.

Completely inept offence.

27th in pts. 31st in pts/game. 4th worst in redzone. 1st in giveaways.

Inept.

But the QB is all good eh?

A QB who is:

26th in passer rating (ahead of only 4 rooks, Hasselback who is 58, Sanchez and Cassel)

24th in comp % ahead of the same crew + Fitzpatrick and Newton

3rd in ints (behind Wheedon, Cassel, Romo and Dalton – at least he’s thrown 12 tds)

1st in fumbles….and 1st in fumbles lost.

Completely inept. Dregs of the league kind of numbers. Those numbers suggest playoffs to you? Supe? Fuck, they’re not even remotely competent for NFL QBs

At what point would you consider a change at QB?

When he drops to 28th?

1st in turnovers not quite bad enough??…lets see how really terrible it can get.

At what point?

This team is 8-8 (max) with this clown at QB. Guaranteed. And we all know at this point that he’s gone at the end of the year.

So what then….keep on rolling I guess? That your solution?

Good times all around.

Look around the NFL and tell me how many good OL are there
Giants, Bears, Packers,Patriots,Lions,Cardinals,Steelers,Falcons, Seahawks,Saints,Seahawks,Redskins,Buffalo, Dolphins, Titans, Vikings, and yet all these Teams QB’s continue to produce for these Teams to have winning records or at least put socring drives together..
You guys want to continue to coddle Mike Vick , well go ahead and for he’s nothing more than an average QB and that’s not good enough for me or the Eagles if they want to go places..

Jets,COlts and jsut about every team has question marks along their OL

Probably the Texans,Broncos, & Bengals are pretty secure about their OL, every other team has issues so stop making excuses for VIck
He’s tough, he’s has a lion of champion but is dumb as a bag of rocks and can;’t read defenses and adjust accordinagly, you either havie it or you don’t and Vick cannot anticipate.. He’s a simply a reactionary type of player..

Paulman Paulman. I watch alot of football as do many. But to not acknowledge that this oline is the worst in the NFL is just not being fair. I would love to ask Shady if he agrees with me or you behind the scene. Heres Paulmans rationale ” You rushed for 20 yards on 14 carries “suck it up every team in the NFL oline sucks”. Thats the stupidest thing Ive heard all day Paulman. Besides the Cardinals thier is no oline that compares and guess what thier QBS suck to b/c of the oline.

LMAO!!!

You do realize our record is equal to or greater than most of those teams you named – with giants being 4-2 and I might be missing another 4-2 team on that list.

As far as scoring drives – um I guess all those 4th quarter leads someone else created.

@ Vinnie this is my only point to your changes. Yes I agree Vick has turned the ball over and he has made bad plays. But this is MY Rationale. I truley believe that when Vick is put in a position to succeed he is MORE than capable to lead this team to a superbowl. This goes for McNabb too. I would love to see the WHOLE Coaching staff FIRED. Then the Eagles get him a good oline and change the philosophy of deep passes and long developing plays. I would want to see him with a coach that features Shady and utilizes real play action, When Vick is comfortable in the pocket and not worried about who is coming next I believe he is very very good. bUT IF WE BLOW IT UP WE BLOW IT UP.

Anyone who has watched these games see the same thing…

When they run the ball, switch to short and intermediate plays, and PROTECT the QB they look great. Hell when they run the ball and throw short and intermediate passes and VIck still gets killed – they look great.

And then with a steady dose of that those big plays open up. But as long as MW has that gunslinger mentality…well..

daggolden

October 15, 2012 6:55 pm

Watching Ray Didinger, Brian Westbrook and Brian Bollinger break down the oline on the game. They all said that this is the worst oline in the league. They are bashing them and breaking down plays and the dumb playcalling on run plays. Shady had 8 negative runs while the oline got pile driven into the backfield. Watkins was 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage on a run play and Baldinger said he doesnt know the hell what he is doing. So no Paulman all olines arent equally as bad.

Anyone that mentions Mcnabb and Mcnair in the same sentence with Vince Young like the site troll PAULMAN did should be banned from this site. Then to double down and call them avg, is beyond idiotic. mcnabb hasn’t played this season granted; but still could latch on with a team as a good vet back up. Mcnair was a starter his whole career. He was so avg, that his first year with the ravens he lead them to a 13-3 record. he hides his disdain for Vick behind the clear obvious problem Reid. Vick will find a job with a competent team and HC. Only idiot fans that troll this site believe otherwise
