Terrell Owens Says He Has Matured

T.O. says he has looked back at some of the things that have happened in his career and he's matured.  Owens says he's not going to go for the bait when reporters try to get him to say something controversial.

Owens saying he has matured is an admission in itself that he has acted like a child at times.  T.O. even  used my favorite word when talking about him and his time here in Philly,  "Nonsense".  Yes that's the word "nonsense".  Owens said he had been involved in a lot of "nonsense" a year ago. He said he'll try to avoid some of the controversy this year.  We'll see.  I must admit that it seems that he has stayed out of the limelight so far this season.

The NFL Network went to the Dallas Cowboys training camp at the AlamoDome in San Antonio, Texas.  They had a crowd of about 7 to 10,000 fans down there at the workout.

I think Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips are making a major mistake having their team do all that work on the inside turf.  It will take something out of their legs as the season goes along.  There's no way in the world I would put my football team on a surface that doesn't give.  The turf is really hard on the legs when work on it for extended periods of time.

Dallas Cowboys new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will try to open up the Cowboys offense.  Terrell Owens is in love with him right now because he plans on moving T.O. around and getting him more involved in the offense.  Jason Witten said he was also in love with  the new offense.  Witten said they going to have him moving around in different formations to give the opposing defense a different look.  This is a drastic change from Bill Parcells offense which moved guys around very rarely.  If they wind ujp struggling as the season goes along, these same guys will be off the bandwagon.

The key of course will be Tony Romo.  Garrett will be playing the Mike Martz style, down the field throwing offense.  He's going to ask Romo to be smart with his decision-making.  I think this could be a problem if the offensive line experiences any problems.  Jerry Jones isn't a total believer in Tony Romo just yet.  Jones said he wants to see Romo have a big year this season before he empties the wallet.

All of them are happy as can be down there.  Wade Phillips hasn't changed a lot from when he was my linebacker coach when I was playing with the Eagles.  He's easy to get along with and he tries to make things peaceable with his players.  If you can't get along with him then you can't get along with anybody.  If everything goes well, Wade will be able to handle this football team.  But if the team struggles, Owens is going to start running his mouth along with other players.  Wade will have trouble laying down the law if things get out of control.

You can still see that Jerry Jones is running things down there both on and off the field.  Off the field he's a genius, but on the field he doesn't know what he's doing.  The Arizona Cardinals had a terrible offensive line last year.  Why would you give millions of dollars to Cards offensive lineman Leornard Davis?

Bruce Bowen of the World Champion San Antonio Spurs gave the Cowboys a pep talk. He talked about why he's such a good defensive player.  Bowen said that playing defense is about desire and not about technique.  He told the Cowboys that running the football and being champions is about desire.
