Eagles Fans Want Changes

The anger is fresh and heated on the morning after the Birds were humiliated on national television,  Eagles are fed up with some of this team's problems and they want to see change in a number of places.

 Jake,
For me its all about the accuracy.  An NFL QB should be able to put the ball on a particular shoulder on a short sceen.  The screen doesn't work unless McNabb can hit Westbrook in stride.  Reid's offense is predicated on the short passing game.  How often do you see Westbrook or LJ or any of the other receivers picking balls off their shoelaces or getting turned around from where they're expecting the ball on short passes five yards down the field.  Another problem with inaccurate QBs is the fact that it puts receivers on the defensive as they try to stab at balls they're trying to catch.  Whether its a baseball or a football the first thing you tell a kid trying to catch is not to stab at the ball.  You tell the kid to take the ball in like they're playing catch with an egg.  When the receiver goes out five yards, turns around and doesn't know where the ball is going to be he ends up on the defensive and reaching all over the place, stabbing at balls he's trying to catch.  Even a receiver with great hands is going to have a hard time when he's reacting to balls rather than receiving them.  McNabb and the receivers have to get some rhythm.  Unless the receiver is confident the ball is going to be where it needs to be there isn't going to be any rhythm and the whole offense will struggle.

from mike,

Hey G, why doesn't Donovan do Campball's soup commercials any more??  Because he pukes every time he gets near a bowl…Need I say More?

From Steve,

I don't agree with Kevin Curtis not being a very good receiver, remember Stallworth only caught 32 passes all of last year and missed quite a few games.  When Kevin Curtis started 8 games as a wide out with the Rams he averaged 6 catches and 100+ yards per game.   The Eagles version of the West Coast Offense doesn't utilize the precision required and that was evident in their Red Zone play.  It almost looked like Gibbs stressed pass coverage knowing that McNabb is not a running threat anymore so lets make #5 beat us with his arm pretty much what Joe Gibbs did to Randall in years past. I'm disappointed in McNabb's leadership because I consider him one of the best if not the best Eagles quarterback all time.   I only have 3 autographs, yours, McNabb's and Pete Rose.   Do or die McNabb is my guy.  Let's turn this around because I'm not ready to see Kevin Kolb for a few more years.  Talk with you again real soon.  Oh yes, I can't wait to hear the uproar from McNabb's interview on Real Sports.   He doesn't get it, he gets booed because of his play not his color.

From Ben,

G,
Its just sad to watch this.  We know they are a better team.  Fans put in so much energy to watch their team and get excited and the Eagles show up and do that on Monday night.  What is their deal? Give the Redskins credit for making plays, but that was another throw away game for the Eagles.  You can't give away games in the NFL otherwise you'll end up with an identity you don't want.  Eagles identity in the league is now a team that can't make plays, you think other teams are gonna go into games scared of the Eagles at all?  You are what your record says, and the Eagles record says they aren't a good team.  It wasn't even the play-calling that killed us, even though it wasn't that great.  Offense made it so difficult on the defense and its a miracle that the Eagles were in at the end.

George,
McScabb needs to go! He is mentally not fit to play. If we go 0-3 its over. Atleast throw Kolb in to get some experience. It makes no sense to leave someone in who cant move. He looks more and more like Drew "The Statue" Bledsoe more and more everyday. HELP!!!

From Jerel,

G,
Last nights game showed how the team is .500 at best.  I would not complain if Andy steps down if this year goes bad with 7 or 8 wins.  The new coach I would love to be here is the Baltimore defensive coordinator.  Oh wait, his name is Rex Ryan, the son of Buddy Ryan.  Can you imagine how the city would love a return to football with attitude!  A legit offensive coordinator would also have to be brought in to get the offense back up and running with B West.
The Eagles do have a lot of young talent and cap room, we just need to get some explosive playmakers on both sides of the ball.

This may sound like a silly comment, but it could put the Eagles back in the Super Bowl hunt as soon as next year.

From Carl M,

G,
for years we have had to listen to Andy Reid hold himself accountable yet this ownership apparently does not!  With the exception of the year the Eagles drafted Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown they have continuously come up short or even empty handed in the draft.  They place too little value on wide receviers who can actually play, which for a coach who wants to throw the ball every down is suicidal, insane and unexplainable.  In addition, they have never placed enough value on big deffensive tackles, linebackers, or kick returners.  Andy Reid had the benefit of a weak NFC for years which made this team look far better then it was.  The one year they gave McNabb a talented wide out, they went to the supper bowl.  Andy Reid should step down and take a leave of abscense. No one could concentrate properly given what his family is going through.  We need a real GM, not a puppet of the coach, and we need some talent from the draft. Here is a suggestion for this year, after Reid steps down. Promote Marty M. Who put together a much better balanced attack last year that took advantage of the big O line.  Use Westbrook and Hunt the way the saints and many others use a tandem.  Cut Greg Lewis. Play Kevin Kolb and the big tight end from Cincy. This year is over and we need to rebuild for a run next year. Give Kolb a year under his belt and some weapons next year, along with a return game and some big athletic guys on defense and we will have a legitimate shot at making the Superbowl. We would need another top WR and more help on the Defense to have a real chance at winning a championship. Here is a suggestion for next years draft in order of the picks: 1) WR or Safety–whichever has the better talent for this slot in the draft. 2) WR or safety-See #1 3)Draft an actual weapon as a kick returner (see Da Bears–Hester put them in the super bowl last year and we get Reno Mahe-sure handed yes…never broken one for a touchdown in his career and never will.
It doesnt matter if he cant play anywhere else, it is too important not to have a weapon here.
4) CB-both Brown and Sheppard are getting up there and have had injuries it is time to start grooming someone
Then in the free agency market pick up a top WR. Curtis is a slot receiver. Reggie is a #2…We need a real #1 receiver.
In summary, Reid and McNaab have run their course. Rebuild now, cut your losses and go get some real playmakers to go with B-West. This frustrated Eagles fan is throwing in the towel this year and will be routing for the other PA team.  At least that team knows how to pick talent in the draft and put more playmakers on the field. Hopefully, I can come back later in the year IF the Eagles make some moves.

From Jerel,

I am your typical Eagles fan that reads every word written about them both locally and nationally.  It's hard to get too much!  Does the Eagles organization think we will keep chanting E-A-G-L-E-S as the team goes off a cliff?  We love this team and it hurts when such basic personnel and game day moves lead to terrible losses.  I am hard on the Eagles and my kids because I care!  After last night I see some dark days ahead and I thank Andy that it's so obvious and I realize we are not a playoff team.  I will continue to watch the games with my great kids decked out in green.  After stewing over the last 2 losses I eased my pain by playing with or just looking at my kids.  I think I will spend a lot more Sunday's working out the pain of a loss by playing with my kids.  My advive to other fans is make plans for some tough times and try to come up with a way to do something constructive as the losses mount.  I will just play through the pain!

Jerel

From Chris,

I will be the first to say McNabb did not have a great game, but he in no way is the problem here.  McNabb is the one guy on this team I know will do whatever it takes to fix his problem.  Answer the follwoing questions and it leads to the problem!
1.  How is Westbrook not on the field during a critical 4th down?
2.  How is there still NO pass rush?
3.  How is the special teams so bad?
4. How is there not a #1 WR on this team?
5. How do you have a QB the calibur of McNabb and only give him one weapon (Westbrook)?
6. How are the Eagles down by 2 scores and taking time to huddle with under 9 minutes to play?
7. How is the red zone play calling so bad?
8. Why do we have the same issures every season?

Answer: Andy Reid

Isn't 9 season enough?  He already has as many losses as Schotenheimer did last year, and where is he?
