Eagles Headed For Tough Negotiation With Jackson

Jackson versus Cowboys DeSean Jackson who down in Miami for the Pro Bowl, told 97.5 ESPN that he’s shooting for the top when it comes to how much money he wants in his next contract.

He has made very clear that he wants a new deal after signing of Drew Rosenhaus as his agent.

You do remember what happened back in 2005 when the Eagles number one wide receiver was Terrell Owens and he had Rosenhaus as his agent and he wanted a new contract.

I don’t think Jackson is going to hold out like Owens but aftger outplaying his rookie contract, he could create some major problems if he held out.

He’s was cocky when he got here, so you know his confidence is going through the roof right now.

How much does he think he’s worth when he becomes the first player to be voted both a starting receiver and the starting punt returner for the NFC in the Pro Bowl?

I would love to be in the meeting when DeSean tells Rosenhaus how much he thinks he’s worth.

Jackson at Pro Bowl practice I always tell the young players to get the money when you can because the teams are going to give it to you unless you’re in a strong position.

Right now, DeSean is in as strong a position but that position will get stronger as he gets closer to the end of his deal.  The Eagles can’t afford him to be unhappy.

Eagles president Joe Banner is normally smart about signing young players who outplay their contracts to long term deals immediately.

There’s a big problem I see in this situation though, Jackson may want a deal worth what the best receivers in the league are making.

You know he feels he should make what the best receivers in the league are making because he’s one of the best receivers in the league.

Stay tuned it should be interesting.
