Eagles Trade Donovan McNabb To The Redskins

The Eagles have traded Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins for a 2nd round draft pick in 2010 (37th pick) and the 3rd pick or 4th pick in 2011.

This is an amazing move by the Eagles because the Redskins weren’t one of the teams mentioned amongst all the rumors which have circulated over the last month or so.

They came on the scene in the last couple of days, but again nobody took it seriously because we didn’t think Andy Reid and the Eagles brass would dare send him to a team within the division.

What it’s going to do is continue the Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles saga going on for future years.

This is astounding that the Eagles would risk so much to do this deal.¬† You’re going to see Donovan McNabb come into Lincoln Financial Field every year with the chance to totally humilate Andy Reid, Joe Banner, Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie.

If he is able to shred the Eagles defense and Kevin Kolb struggles, Birds fans will say things about the team’s front office that have rarely been heard.

On the other hand they did get a very good second round pick this year and another decent pick in 2011.

The final chapter hasn’t been written but it will be very interesting.¬† Stay tuned.

UNFKN REAL. THE EAGLES ARE TRYING REALLY HARD TO BE THE LEAST OF THe NFC EAST. UNREAL. WATCH THE SKINS WIN IT ALL THIS YEAR. SHANAHAN RUNS THE BALL (5 GOTTA LOVE THAT), THEY GOT A GOOD D, COOLEY, MOSS, DEVIN THOMAS, 3 GOOD BACKS. I CANT BELIEVE WE TRADED THIS GUY WITHIN THE DIVISION FOR A 2ND ROUND PICK.

YOU CANT REPLACE 20TDS AND 10 PICKS

This is the dumbest move the Andy Reid Joe Banner era has ever made !!!!!!!!!!
Ok all you McNabb HATERS now can watch him destroy the Eagles for the next 2-3 years. Cause this defense isnt that good. Man how do you trade him to one of your division rivals. Plain dumb!!!!!!!!!! Who cares about his feelings he would be gone what you want to stay on his X-mas card list damn. You could have had a similar deal with Oakland but you decided you didnt want to hurt his feelings COME ON.

Poor Donovan. its like now he has to live the years all over again when it was james thrash and todd pinkston only this time with the Redskins. I think with this the eagles are going to draft Colt Mccoy or Tony Pike in the 2nd round as a back up (who knows maybe Tebow). Well eagles fans you all got your wish. We are OFFICIALLY rebuilding.

Runtheball09 sums it up in one word really.. STUPID! Washington now become contenders. They already had a beast of a Defence and if they draft Okung at #4 they help solidify the O-line which got Campbell killed last year, and all of a sudden they are a NFC East contender and the eagles could be the worst team in the division..

Dumbest move ever. You just helped the redskins become better than you at least for the immediate future. They already have a good defense and shanahan will be better at a more balanced attack than Reid. Idiots I tell ya. We are probably going to be 4th in the division this year.

I see the cowboys getting 12 wins, giants getting 10, redskins getting 9 and eagles 8. With all these draft picks we better hit on some guys who can start right away, especially on the D.

@vricchini

we wanted mcnabb gone (as in far away) we wanted our pro-bowl corner signed (not done) who said we wanted a full-on rebuild? What about Darryl Clark late in the 6th? He always reminded me of Mcgrizzle

Good move for McNabb… I am not so sure about the Eagles
Only getting a 2nd this year and either a 3rd or a 4th in 2011 was not enough in return.
The Redskins with Shanahan at the helm have added OT Hicks,RB L Johnson, RB W Parker and
have a young WR Corps of D Thomas, M Kelley, S Moss and TE’s C Cooley and emerging F Davis..
They have a solid Defense and now will select top OT in the Draft R Okung weith their 1st Round Selection, they get any play from their O/Line, they will have a good shot at 8-8/9-7 type of seasion
and will compete with Eagles,& Giants for 2nd place in the NFC East..

Now let’s see if shanahan tries to trade for Marshall or sign TO. If they did either one of those things it will be either them or Dallas winning the division.

i hope don throws for 400 yards and 5tds the first time he plays us. he knows we have no defense and he knows the scheme. he played against it for eleven years all season. he is going to kill us with big plays all day twice a year now. we are now the doormat of the ncf east. thanks laurie, banner and andy another great move by you guys

REALLY……. we get a second this year and maybe a third next year if he plays good, we get that for one of the top five QB in the league……what was wrong with the oakland trade? we shit on mcnabb his hole career and we cant do it one more time? atleast they should of tried making it a three way trade. i’m happy that mcnabb is happy i love the guy, but to a division rival for such a low price in my mind.

What Shanahan will do in Washington is what Reid should have done in Philly. RUN THE DAMN BALL! He has Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson and just signed Willie Parker from the Steelers. When Shanahan was in Denver he always had a running game even while playing the west coast offense. Dononvan will not have to win it all by himself. It puts him in a great situation.

This was a slap in the face for the City of Philadelphia , trade him to the Washington Redskins, a division rival, for only a 2nd round draft pick this year ,Sonny Jurgenson for Sam Snead all over again . The hell with the Eagles they deserve to not have ever won a Super Bowl with this “”Gold Standard “” Front office , Go, McNabb beat them everytime you play them and I hope one of those wins knock them out of the playoffs , hell the Redskins may even MIC you up to the defensive captain to tell him every play Reid calls for the offense . Why is Reid still here , oh ,I know Lurie got a big clic going in that front office !! F**** this team , Go Phillies !!

Very odd choice to trade him within in the division for such marginal compensation. Guess we now know that McNabb’s value on the market wasn’t so great, huh?

This is going to be VERY interesting. Like G said … if he beats the Eagles twice and Kolb struggles LOOK OUT!

Mcnabb is going to thrive in Washington with the run first mentality. And with Parker, Johnson and Portis lining up behind him this offense is going to be lethal when they start with the play action and passing.

Finally, it’s over. I was not a McNabb supporter while he was here but do wish him luck, against other teams. But trading him in the same division, with a coach who knows how to win and is building a better team in a hurry, was a dumb move.

Ok Eagles Front office stink!!!! Now the fans have to hope they can make the right draft choices after this crazy boneheaded move.

I for one dont feel all that great about Kolb I just remember Bobby Hoying having a few good games and all of us Eagles fans going gaga over him and he turned out to be a turd. Good QBs arent that easy to come by so they better draft one early and cross there fingers that either Kolb or the draft pick turns out to be good.

And I dont want to hear about Vick. Cause this isnt Madden its the NFL

The truth is i dont know how good kolb is going to be? I will tell you logically if they donot fix that offensive line, dont care who they put back as QB. understand if your offense is based on timing, and radcliffe is blowing up your center and guard who is going to throw the ball accurately. the offensive line, play calling and the defense are the reasons the eagles lost in 2009 NOT MCNABB

by the way, michael vick did do his time!!! we can give murderers (human killers), thieves, rapist a second chance but not a man that served his time. Andy reid sons both flashed guns and sold drugs. If they were released what will you think? will it be the same response? I wonder?

wait wasn’t Mcnabb one Td or one defensive stop away from going to his second superbowl 2 years ago???

I love watching kolb highlights..I can throw a tighter spiral.

Now The fat guy will see exactly how a Great coach will play to Mcnabb’s strengths by running the football.

Andy is officially running a flag football offense.

Now that I time to think about it,
this was the best deal out there and maybe Eagles front office could have rolled the dice for Draft Day trades, but I do think they wanted to get the highest 2nd Pick available and also wanted to make sure that McNabb was ok with where he was traded to which you can agree with or not, but the Eagles felt like they owed that to him which I do not have a a problem with..
Now the Draft board changes quite a bit since the Redskins will not pursue QB J Clausen with their 1st pick or C McCoy in the nd Round since Eagles now have that pick..
This puts decisions for the Seattle Seahwks,Cleveland Browns,Buffalo Bills to now consider Clausen as their QB of the future and will allow some positional players to drop down in the draft which ultimately creates more opportunites to get a better player… (maybe an E Berry,D Morgan,M Iuapti, etc, etc)

This is just the worst kind of loser move. Any time Reid refuses to say that Kolb is getting an extension and “We’ll have to see how things go…” you just know even Reid doesn’t think they can win with Kolb deep down. Who else gets rid of a Hall of Fame QB for a guy you, yourself, aren’t even willing to immediately give a long term contract to? In the interview even Reid more or less admitted that this is not a team that compete for a Superbowl. It’s going to be painful to watch the Eagles not even in the playoffs while the Redskins are in the NFC Championship or further.

…So, we trade Donnie5, a guy who has worked in AR’s very unimaginative WCO for the past 11 years, who knows the strengths/weaknesses of our O-Line AND Defense…TO A DIVISION RIVAL!!!! Not to forget a division rival who is clearly rebuilding the team with veteran skill position players and putting themselves to be serious playoff/SB contenders very quickly. And all Reid can say is …”ummm ehhh We uhhh sometimes uhhh you need to move in uhhh a uhhh different direction uhhhh adn uhhh F-YOU! uhhhh we win the salary cap bowl again uhhhh!”

This is the perfect year to redesign this team. I hope 4 lights it up and you all have to bow your heads in shame.

As much as 5 takes a knowledge of our system with him we also know all of his weaknesses. It’s a wash.

This team is not finished yet. 11 Picks (1-1,2-2s,2-3s,2-4s,1-5,1-6,2-7s) That’s half a friggin team!!!!

I expect (hope) Vick is moved for anything, J Parker could be packaged for something, maybe even send asante samuel off to get to a guy we like better.

The eagles are getting young and will be strong for the next 10years. I love This!!!
