Redskins Inquired About McNabb In Trade Talks

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that the Washington Redskins have inquired about Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.

He says that there was serious interest by the Skins in McNabb, saying specifically, “To clarify, there was more than just mild interest from Skins for McNabb. Heard they even talked players.”

Glazer says he has been in touch with Reid and McNabb, and believes they have been communicating with each other.  He also doubts that the Eagles would trade him within the division.

According to the NFL reporter, the “Team is trying to trade him someplace he’ll be happy. Have offers but Andy is trying to do him right.”

I think trying to trade him to where he wants to go is probably going over the line. I don’t think Reid should be putting McNabb’s happiness about what is in the best interest of the Eagles.

I believe McNabb would have preferred them to have traded him early in the off by now so that he wouldn’t be the subject of the ongoing 24-hour speculation about whether he would traded or not.

I never understood the idea of “don’t trade within the division”. If you don’t think the trade will make your team better, then don’t do the trade in the first place.

Sure, it’s possible for a trade to make both teams better. For example, a team with too many quarterbacks could trade to a team with no quarterbacks. Then you’ve made a team that you see twice a year that much better… but the thing is, you’re better, too. If you get the best offer from them, then take it.

To me this all seems more and more like no one in the FO, except Howie Roseman, wants to trade McNabb. I don’t know that Phil Savage is any better but they may have to empower Phil Savage to speak on their behalf just to muzzle Roseman for the time being and make peace with the other GMs so they can get the draft day deals done that they’re going to need to get done.

The other major problem is that the chorus of public criticism from the players is going to make it that much more difficult for the Eagles to sign free agents in the future if they trade McNabb.

I never understood why savage was never brought on as a full time staff member. he created that baltimore team that won the superbowl. he drafted a ton of pro bowlers and he has an eye for talent. i think he is the most quailfied person in the entire organazation to evaluate tallent

Don’t trade him to Washington, I’m still not over them trading our #1 to the Cowboys who got Spencer only to kick our ass with him twice this year!

Trade him to Oakland, with McNabb they will be an instant contender in that division, and could seriously groom the young guns on that team.

Our defense can’t even stop Cambell, imagine how poorly they would do against McNabb!

dzim53; Savage knows talent, but may not know how to get it cheaply, that’s why he is jr. to Roseman. Just like everything else with this team, money trumps all.

Butch, maybe you’re correct, but from where I’m standing, I still don’t see ANY evidence that anyone at all in the Eagles FO wants to trade McNabb. The media has cited 0 credible sources with any confidence in ‘reporting’ about the McNabb trade BS. I’m unconvinced unless it actually happens. Or if they say, yes, we’re trying to trade McNabb.

Yeah, that sounds like the Skins.

If #5 goes, so should Reid. What’s the % of teams in the NFL using a form of WCO? How many times can you get “punched in the face” the same way before you learn how to defend it?

Sheer – The Eagles don’t use the WCO anymore. They’re much more of a vertical passing attack now. They’re recent O is based off of the WCO, but it’s not that simple anymore. I think right now that Seattle and Green Bay may be the only true WCO teams, but I could be wrong.

Spadaro S&S, that kind of comment about the Cowboys trade is exactly what I’m talking about. That trade let them draft Spencer but let us draft Kolb & Bradley. If Bradley’s knee is better, we have a top talent MLB, and everyone in Philly is down on their knees for Kolb, so both teams got better.

Paulman wishes everyone a Happy Easter Holiday…
Enjoy the Beautiful weather and I will return with some Mock Selections by the Eagles,Cowboys,Giants and Redskins for the upcoming Draft..
As afar as a trade to the Redskins, highly unlikely, but if they offered a 2nd Rd and a 4th Rd pick and maybe Safety L Landry…you would have to consider it….

Eagles will never trade McNabb or any dynamtic player to anyone in the divison. The front office is smart, just like how the Packers wouldn’t trade Favre to the vikings or even any team in the NFC. I’m sure the Eagles would love to have TE like Jason Witten but the Cowboys would never make that trade even if it was an option. Not going to happen, so what team is next to have a rumor of aquiring McNabb?

i think they should just trade him to oakland for that CB Nnamdi Asomugha…… samual and asomugha as our CBs, it would be like having taylor and vincent back…but in my opinion better.

I’m told that several Martian teams have inquired about McNabb, one of which is willing to part with an All-Intergalactic safety and eight No. 1 draft picks. I think we should hold out for nine No. 1s.

eaglesrock16 said something about the front office being smart. You have been wrong by the trade to Redskins. Fool.
