Veteran boxer Bernard Hopkins beat Roy Jones Jr. last night and revenged his 1993 loss to Jones, in a battle between two determined 40 plus year old men.
Both fighters gave the viewers their money’s worth and showed a lot of heart in going at it toe to toe for 12 rounds.¬†¬† Hopkins left with a unanimous decision and satisfaction that he had finally beaten Jones.
It wasn’t a surprise to me when I learned that both Hopkins and Jones were taken to the hospital after the fight.¬† This is why two men of their age shouldn’t be allowed to fight.¬† This is one of the reasons that boxing is a joke of a sport.
Hopkins dominated what was a joke of a fight because the fighters are so old, but he collapsed to his knees in his dressing room afterwards.
It’s sad that in boxing two old heads like Jones and Hopkins would be allowed to fight.¬† These guys should be retired and watching fights from the ringside.
You can rest assured that you’re going to see these guys stuttering soon and barely able to speak a clear sentence.
Again congratulations to Hopkins, who can now get back to his first love, which is bashing Donovan McNabb.
