Eagles Busy Yesterday Hosting 17 Draft Prospects

The Eagles were busy yesterday doing their homework in preparation for the upcoming NFL Draft.¬† They must have been running their own combine by getting prospects in and getting their heads a little by having them meet with the team’s position coaches.

They were able to find out what these guys were familiar with from a technical standpoint.¬† I’m sure they were able to quiz them a bit about the west coast offense and the blitzing style defense which the Birds employ.

According to defensive end prospect Arthur Moats of James Madison University, the Birds had a total of 17 draft prospects in at the Nova Care complex.

I think some were brought in for mere formality while others were brought with the thinking of possibly drafting them.

He listed safety Eric Berry of Tennessee was there.¬† I don’t think the Birds feel they will get a shot at him but they had to bring him in.

TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes was in attendance and I think the Birds can get him if they want him.¬† He’s projected to go late in the first round or early in the second.

I don’t know how the Eagles feel about this kid but he fits the mold of the defensive ends they seem to like.¬†¬† He’s listed as 6’2″ 265 pounds with 4.65 speed in the forty yard dash.

Keep an eye on him because they Eagles may already have their eye on him.  I could see the Birds grabbing him if he lasts to the second round.

Big powerful running backs Toby Gerhart from Stanford and Jonathan Dwyer from Georgia Tech.¬† There’s no way in the world that these guys are drafted by the Eagles.

You and I know that the Birds don’t like big back who are not proven pass receivers.
