McNabb’s New Redskin Teammates Are Impressed

Donovan McNabb has been getting rave reviews from his new teammates down in Washington.¬† They seem to feel that he’s all that they could have wanted and more .

It’s too be expected in the same way that Kevin Kolb’s teammates are going rally around him.

The Redskins who haven’t been to the playoffs the last few years are eager to play with McNabb who has been able to get the Eagles in playoffs year after year for over a decade.

Washington’s Pro Bowl tight end Chris Cooley had nothing but great things to say about their new signal caller:

“Donovan is outstanding. It feels like he’s been here for a couple years. Instantly, he’s a leader. Instantly, he knows what it takes to have a team together. He’s talking to all the guys. He fits in extremely well. I don’t think anyone was worried about his ability to come and be the quarterback of this team and fit in as a teammate. He’s very good at that, very personable. And he knows what it takes. I think you like that as a player. You like a guy that’s been there, guy that’s been in five NFC Championships, been in the Super Bowl and understands what it’s going to take.”

On if there will be any extra work with McNabb: ‚ÄúWith Donovan here, it‚Äôll be the same amount of work as it was because we have a new offense. Everyone is learning a new offense. Donovan is learning a new offense ‚Äì we all are. We were planning on putting in a lot of time. I think a lot of guys are excited about what‚Äôs going in. It seems like a very good offense for us. It puts players in positions to win. It moves guys around quite a bit.”

Young Redskins wide receiver Malcolm Kelly also had great things to say about McNabb.

“First impression, he’s a normal guy. He’s a lot more laid back than I would’ve expected, as far as how long he’s been in the league, but he’s a cool dude. That really brings the pressure of practice down when you have a guy that’s laid back but still is about his business. He has a real strong arm, and he’s accurate. I’m looking forward to it.”

Kelly has been amazed by how quickly McNabb is picking up the offense which is  another version of the west coast offense: “Right away, it’s almost like he’s been here. It’s almost like he got the playbook when we got it. It’s crazy because he knows everything, he already knows the concepts and things like that and he’s just been here two or three days. You can just tell by the way he carries himself and the way he is out on the field that he has a lot of confidence in him and that spreads to the rest of the guys on the field.”

Kelly believes McNabb can get the job done with games on the line : “Yeah I think he can. There’s no doubt in my mind. This guy has won a lot of games, won a lot of big games, there’s no doubt in my mind. You have confidence in a guy like that because he just shows confidence. Just even being out here, being around the offense just for a few days there are some things that he already knows and things like that. More than enough confidence in him.”

I hope Donovan succeeds in Washington and I hope the coach is the difference.

Big E is weird. And he’d rather see a division rival succeed than the Eagles, to prove his point. Hence, his ‘correctness’ and ego are more important than the Eagles to him.

mcnabbs new redskin teammates won 4 games last year. i imagine that they would be impressed with just about anyone not named jason campell. i am officially predicting the skins win 7-9 games this season. the redskins will always be the redskins, no matter if they had jesus behind center, they are still going to be abismal.

This is a dog-bites-man story. What would you expect them to say? Look, everything they’re saying may be 100% true. They’re saying things that would be consistent of what we saw in McNabb for 11 years. But to quote them and make this a news story is ridiculous, but it is entirely expected. The man-bites-dog story would be if one of his new teammates dissed him after having met him.

I’m sure they are just exited after having to deal with Jason Campbell and Todd Collins, Don’t expect them to say anything else. But he will get a little more respect down there because they have a bunch of veterans who know what it’s like to be on a terrible team for a while. His presence should change the atmosphere and have some people excited they get to play with a proven QB. Just like the young guys here give their endorsement to Kolb. Well they don’t know too much about playing on a bad team so they are excited and they think everything will be just as great. I hope so but we will see. They just need to stop talking and get ready to play. Desean Jackson will provide interested sound bites for the rest of his career. He needs to learn to be quiet.

Will we finally abandon this gluttony for pain when a coach fresh from the unemployment line and Mcnabb is hoisting a Lombardi? Reid bought himself another contract by throwing the guy that help legitimize him under the bus. McNabb built The Linc only to have an unproven commodity like kolb step in and attempt to benefit from the weapons the organization refused to surround Mcnabb with for years. This thing will blow up and at the end of the dAy McNabb will finally get what have alluded him for years…A SUPER BOWL RING. When this happen we’ll know it wasn’t his fault the Eagles underachieved. A quarterback can not win without a winning organization. “TIMES YOURS”..
