Flyers Need To Take The Lead Early Tonight With A Strong First Period

The Wachovia Center is going to be loud beyond imagination tonight, which should help the Flyers jump on the Blackhawks physically. Philadelphia must seize the opportunity tonight to take control of this series.

The Flyers need to dominate the first period and get ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks tonight.¬† They can’t afford to fall behind and let the visitors take the emotion out of the Wachovia Center.

Playing from behind is fatiguing and not where the Flyers need to be when the first period ends.

Philadelphia must continue what they started in the third period of the second game.  They need to be the more aggressive, yet be smart with the puck.  Their defense needs to pound Chicago when given the chance.

All-Star defenseman Chris Pronger will have to continue controlling that explosive Blackhawk line of  Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. Hopefully the Flyers top goal scorers, namely Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, get into the scoring column tonight.

Of course the importance of Michael Leighton being strong in goal, goes without sayingl.¬† As long as the defense is strong in front of him I think he’ll be fine, but he may have to play great for a while if the Blackhawks get some quality shots at him.

I know the Flyers came back against the Bruins after falling behind 3-0, but they must not put themselves in that situation against the Blackhawks.  This team is far too talented to let that happen.

Tonight it’s on the line and must come out with energy and passion.

I’m thinking it’ll be a 4-2 Flyers win tonight.
