Eagles Sign Three Of Their Draft Picks: Lindley, Chaney & Owens

The Eagles signed three of the their rookies yesterday to four-year deals.  Among that group was fourth-round pick cornerback Trevard Lindley,  and seventh round picks middle linebacker Jamar Chaney and defensive tackle Jeff Owens.

Friday was a good day for Lindley because he had an outstanding interception during the practice yesterday and he signed his contract.  He may be the tallest cornerback on the Birds roster and he needed all of it to go up and take a pass from a wide receiver.

Lindley has the best combination of size and speed of all the defensive backs in the Eagles secondary.¬† If he continues to work, he might earn some playing time in his rookie year.¬† He’s got to get a better handle on the the pass coverages.

Chaney is by far the fastest the middle linebacker the Birds have on the roster but he needs show that he can handle the physical play of being a middle linebacker in the NFL.

I don’t know much about Owens because the interior lineman don’t get much done during these passing camps.¬† We’ll find out about him in July when the Birds start training camp.

LIndley will push Hanson as the Nickel back, and will see time on the field his Rookie Season
Chaney is a long shot at best and will struggle once the pads go on to be able to shed and disengage from offensive blockers due to his smallish size and lack of overall strength…
J Owens can be a real surprise at DT, if he gets into his playbook and plays at his usual “high motor”
style, I think he has a real shot of making the team as a 4th DT (behind Bunkley,Patterson,DIxon)
I think he outplays T Laws,B Williams and earns a spot the final roster..

who cares if they signed draft picks?…How is this news?

When they get ver talented players signed that can play safety, cornerback, and center, let the reporting begin. There would be no surprise if some if ot all of these guys get placed on the practice squad or released within the next few years. Are the Eagles looking to win a Superbowl this year?

Wait until Camp time…
The Flyers are battling their butts off and now in great position to win the Stanley Cup for the first time
in over 40 years… The Sixers have the 2nd Overall pick, a new head Coach in Doug Collins who knows Philadelphia well and has had success in coaching in NBA and hopefully brings a new energy and a new plan on rebuilding the once-proud 76er Franchise back to a competitive and exciting team again..Now the Phillies needs to get rolling and get back to hitting as a team again (whichs is slowing coming) …
It is a great time to be a Phialdelphia Sports fan so enjoy it while it lasts…
