Police identify shooter at Vick’s party, no charges to be filed

Yes, I understand. That headline makes no sense to me either. But, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Virginia Beach police have identified the person who shot Quanis Phillips in the leg outside of Michael Vick’s birthday party on June 25th. At the same time, they can’t press charges because everyone involved with the case (including the guy who was shot) has been extremely uncooperative.

“Investigators were able to determine the identity of the shooter,” the Virginia Police said in a statement. “Unfortunately because of the lack of cooperation from the victim, coupled with the reluctance of witnesses, the Commonwealth Attorney‚Äôs Office, upon reviewing all of the evidence, has determined that no charges will be filed in this case at this time. Because the suspect will not be charged, his identity cannot be released by police. There are no other suspects in this case, including Michael Vick.”

Meanwhile, Fox 29 caught up with Vick today and asked him about the incident.

“There never should have been a party,” Vick said.

He’s got that right. It’s nice to see that he seems to get it, but he sure does need to learn things the hard way, huh?

McLane also mentions that the Eagles had launched their own fact-finding mission to see if Vick was involved in the shooting and so far, they haven’t found anything. I don’t really think anyone believes that Vick was involved in the shooting, but he clearly needs to avoid these situations.

Decent article G. I started not to respond (thinking more gossip) til I read where they Identified the shooter and that no charges will be filed against MVick. Hopefully he sees this as a learning lesson and realizes that not being able to party in public atmospheres is just part of the process of getting back on the leagues good side. He should take this hard-learned lesson as a blessing and hang in there. Keep doin ya thang Vick. Peace.

Garry, this is why I said that GCOBB.com needed to stay away from this until the police/DA published the results of their investigation and what kind of indictments would come down. Personally, I think his old buds are anything to pull him down. So far he’s not retaliated in the least bit. Neither Goodell nor the Eagles should dump him at this point, but certain Nega-delphians will continue to blast away.

Hey Iggles–This “Nega-delphian” has always been opposed to Nega-tive, criminal players on Philadelphia sports teams.
