Jerry Jones, McNabb’s Consistency and His Redskins’ Jersey

Do you think Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was being honest when he said he thinks the Eagles will be more consistent now that Donovan McNabb is no longer their quarterback and young Kevin Kolb is now at the helm?

`McNabb helped create those big swings in our games over the last 10 years,’’ Jones said. “When he played well, it was like throwing the knockout punch. When he didn’t, you were able to throw the knockout punch.

“I don’t see that now (with Kolb). I think Kolb and the way they’re going about it now, you won’t have those big swings one way or the other. I think every game with them is going to be a battle. Because of Kolb and because the makeup of the rest of their team is solid. And their coach, there is not a better coach in the NFL than Andy (Reid).’’

I find that hard to believe Jones is being sincere because the one thing Eagles were able to achieve during McNabb’s tenure with the team was amazing consistency.   I will be astonished if  we can look at the Eagles a decade or so from now and see a team that has been to the playoffs, ,more than eight times in eleven years.

If they do better than that, we are headed into the greatest era of winning for not only the Eagles but for any NFL team since the Patriots of the 2000’s, the Dallas Cowboys of the early 90’s and the 49ers of the 80’s.

During those 11 years that Donovan McNabb has led Andy Reid-coached teams, the Cowboys have won a total of one playoff game in that time, while the Eagles have won 10 playoff games  during that period and lost 8.

In another issue involving McNabb, the Eagles made a fan, Jim Devlin, take off the McNabb Redskins jersey he was wearing.  The fan who was at training camp and amongst the privileged group inside the fence and on the sidelines watching Eagles practice, took off the jersey and remained at practice.

When asked about the situation he said he wore the jersey to try to get a rise out of Eagles fans.  He said he’s a McNabb fan not a Redskins.  He still remains an Eagles fan.

I think it’s a waste of time for the Birds to refuse to let fans wear jerseys from other teams.  Who cares what the fans are wearing during practice?

McNabb owned the boys so someone should embalm Jones already. I could care less what any Dalllas bum has to say. Someone should tell Andy its a free country and to keep his eye on the running plays not what the fans are wearing, especially since we pay his salary.

I read some camp notes/stories where McNabb has really been struggling the last 2 weeks in picking up the terminology and Shanahan’s overall Offense as well as his accuracy…
Per reports and obeservors, he looks a little shaky and not very confident starting out and it doesn’t help that their WR’s are not top flight or that their OL is a work in progress with 4 new starters playing with each other for the 1st time….

I think if the fan is in the stands then he can wear whatever he wants but since he was on their sidelines and had VIP passes which makes him a guest, it’s fine for them to tell him to take it off. I’m an Eagles fan and just for respect of the organization and for them letting stand on the sidelines, I wouldn’t consider that the proper time to make a statement. We all know how overly sensitive the Eagles are so it’s not surprising but I don’t disagree with them in this instance. Now if dude was sitting amongst all the other fans and they told him the same then I would have a problem with it.

Scorp, you took the words right out of my mouth. The people that think that the Eagles were wrong are generally anti Eagles and anti-Reid especially, so they have no perspective. He abused his privilege of being on the sideline as a guest. He could have made his stand by wearing an Eagles McNabb jersey. He just wanted attention.

It would be like you inviting someone into your house and then he insults your wife and makes fun of you kids. He can do it, but you also have the right to ask him to leave.

Dude is in his 40’s and he’s still tryna bust stones at an Eagles camp?Simple and plain he’s an idiot. And if he was in the stands he would be called and idiot. I went too camp a week ago and just like every year it’s amusing too see and hear some of the crap that Eagles fans say out loud. It’s like they’ve never been arounde pro-athletes before. This dudes sitting in the stands and talking smack on Kolb after everytime he hit a short throw and just being typical Negadelphia. “There go ya’ll season, dink and dunk…no DOWNFIELD passing….3 yards 4 yards..yack yack.” He gave me d-bag shivers. Grown men tryna get players attentions for a pix. Shut up and watch the practice. And leave your grimey misbahaving kids at home.

bugs, I agree. I’m a McNabb guy but I wouldn’t wear a Redskins jersey on the Eagle’s sidelines. Now I wouldn’t see anything wrong with wearing a McNabb Eagles jersey but you don’t wear other teams colors on the sidelines. He might as well wore a Cowboys hat as well. Now, in the stands, all bets are off.

Regardless of the details about Donovan, the Eagles, and the Redskins, this was a guy who got a VIP field pass, and was there to ‘stir things up’, and draw attention to himself/have some ‘fun’. None of those things include watching the team practice and enjoying the experience for what it is at face value. Anyone on the field to draw attention to themselves and stir the pot, shouldn’t be. It’s about the Eagles and the players, anything else is out of place and should be removed by the team – period.

I heard thru a source of mine in DC, that owner Dan Snyder has hired PW and Songs
and is paying their travel, lodging, food and drinks to spend the rest of training camp up in Lehigh
to camp out in a Redksins 2-Man Tent with McNabb merchandise to raise a little hell for the remainder of camp…My source also told me that if they get arrested that D Snyder has retained the Washington power Law Firm (Bennett & Bennett) to take care of any legal issues should they arise…It should be a fun couple of weeks up in Lehigh

That fan is a dumbass. Its like wearing a confederate flag t-shirt to barack obama’s inauguration lolv. But seriously on the eagles behalf is there a dress code to these practices? no then why should the eagles tell someone to take their shirt off? is it really a bad thing that he had a mcnabb redskins jersey on? this is a guy that will be in eagles hall of fame when its all said and done so why ban this guy from wearing a mcnabb redskins jersey?

What some folks dont understand is that because i wear a NYY hat it dose not mean im a NYY fan Its a trend setter its much more trendy now to wear a redskins mcnabb jersey than it is to wear a eagles mcnabb jersey because thats the new cool thing out on the market. Some older folks will not understand this.

Jerry Jones loves the new arrangement with the Eagles decision to go with Kolb … I wonder why?

He definately wants a more consistent potent Eagles offense to blow his team away.

HE’S LOVING IT…………JERRY JONES DON’T WANT YOU TO CHANGE A THING.

THE GOLDEN STANDARD.

FANS SHOULD NEVER LET THIS ORGANIZATION FORGET MCNABB.

What was this team worth before Mcnabb and what is it worth now?

The perfect scenario would be Mcnabb knocking the Cowboys…(REDSKINS / COWBOYS – ONE OF THE BIGGEST RIVALS IN ALL SPORTS) out in the NFC championship game on his way to winning the Superbowl. That would be some justice and speak volumes…The Eagles meantime picking good spots to spin for at a wasted season. I can hear it now. “Kolb took major steps this year and there was some throws he wish he had back there”….”TIMES YOURS”……..after a disappointing 5-11 season. Vick better defer if they attempt to plug him in after the season is lost.

AT LEAST THE SUPERBOWL WINNING TEAMS OF THE NFC EAST WILL BE BACK IN THE FOREFRONT….THE NFL LOVES IT!!!

OBAMA will be cheering them on after much fan fare is back at the capitol of the U.S. and he may even invite Mcnabb for a beer…A good ole’ SAM ADAMS

Where did all these big game victories happen Songs and when?..What the hell are you talking about you crazy, self-delused son of a bitch? McNabb let us down more than anyone ever. He’d get you to believe and then totally disappoint. Year in and year out. Your an idiot if you think his best years were ahead of him.
