Eagles vs.Titans: Quick Reactions From Week 7 Loss

— This was the Kevin Kolb I expected to see the past two weeks. He was shaky in the pocket, his passes were sailing high, he was staring down his receivers, and threw a costly interception. For me, Michael Vick has always been the choice, but Kolb made the decision much easier.

— Someone tell LeSean McCoy that he is fast in the open field. Instead of making a couple moves at the line of scrimmage and turning on the jets, he acts like he has to dance all the way down the field if he’s going to get anywhere. He has been very good all season, but he has to stop dancing and just go north and south.

— Owen Schmitt was once again very good as a blocker and had a key third-down reception. He has been a great pick-up this season and his minimized the loss of Leonard Weaver.

— Where is Brent Celek? He’s been a non-factor all season long. Once again he seemed uninspired and uninterested in the game. With DeSean Jackson out, Celek was going to be counted upon as a key target, but he failed to step up and help his buddy Kolb.

— Who else wanted something to bash their head against when King Dunlap went down? I’m still not a big fan of his, but if he was forced to miss an extended period of time it would have gotten very, very ugly.

— When Dunlap went down, Todd Herremans kicked out to left tackle. Alright, I’m on board. But why in the hell was Nick Cole the guy to come in at left guard? I thought Reggie Wells was the primary backup at left guard, which is why he wasn’t getting the start at right guard? It just begs the question of why in the hell the team traded for him to sit the bench all year.

— At left guard, Herremans seemed to get abused all day. Too many times he was in the backfield or just on his back. I can’t put my finger on the exact issue, but Herremans seems to high in his kick-step and always seems a half-second late off the ball.

— Mike McGlynn could have the makings of a very, very good center. Most of the time he messes up on mental issues that will come with experience. But as far as the physical side, he’s been very good all year. I didn’t think initially that the penetration on the fumbled exchange near the goal line was his fault, but he’s taken the blame so he’ll work on that and move on.

— Max Jean-Gilles seemed pissed off. I’m not sure what the Titans did to him, but he was flying around all game making hits around the pile and really played to the whistle. Jean-Gilles is another guy I haven’t been too fond of, but he looked good against Tennessee.

— Winston Justice got hurt and it started to show a little. He got called for a holding penalty that was a directly result of stopping his feet, which was likely a direct result of a knee injury. It didn’t seem too serious, so hopefully the bye week will put him back at 100 percent in two weeks.

— I keep looking, but still can’t find Brent Celek.

— Jeremy Maclin seemed to get enough targets from Kolb, but he just wasn’t able to make the big play like he was last week. The Titans seemed to really key on him and none of the other receivers were able to step up and take advantage. DeSean Jackson’s presence might be more important to the deep passing game than even originally thought.

— Jason Avant quietly had a decent day. He had a circus catch near the sideline on the way to a six-reception, 60-yard day, but is clearly better served as a slot receiver. He played on the outside more often than he usually would and it exposed his lack of breakaway speed.

— It’s hard not to like Chad Hall. The guy does whatever is asked of him and gives it everything he has. He averaged nearly five yards per carry on four attempts, but only hauled in one reception for five yards. Kolb missed him a couple times over the middle or he could have had a much better game.

— Riley Cooper made the best play of the day when he snagged that awful pass on the Eagles’ feeble attempt to copy what the Kansas City Chiefs did a couple weeks back. The wildcat reverse pass should have been intercepted, but Cooper stepped in front and snagged it then scored his first career touchdown a couple plays later. The future could be very bright for Cooper.

— On the defensive side, Antonio Dixon was the best player. He man-handled anyone he lined up against and was in the Titans’ backfield as often as Chris Johnson. Even when Brodrick Bunkley does return, the team would be selling themselves short to keep Dixon on the bench.

— Mike Patterson has been fairly consistent all year, but unfortunately it’s been only consistently average. He does a good job at the point of attack, but is not great at disengaging the blocker and making the play. When Bunkley comes back to the lineup, Patterson could get bumped to a rotational player.

— After a great start to the season, Trevor Laws has disappeared. His snaps should have gone up after Bunkley went down, but he seems to be going the other way and taking a step back into being irrelevant. Hopefully he can turn things around and start contributing in the latter portion of the season.

— Trent Cole is now up to six sacks on the season despite being dropped back into coverage more often than he should. If Sean McDermott would actually let him rush the passer on every play like he should be doing, Cole could have a few more sacks and could be helping the defense a lot more.

— Like Laws, Brandon Graham has completely disappeared. The coaching staff seems to have lost faith in him and don’t even seem to be using him in passing situations as much. Over the past couple of weeks, Graham has been the biggest disappointment on the team.

— Graham’s removal from the starting role has really killed Juqua Parker. He was doing such a great job as a situational player, but has been largely ineffective as a pass-rusher as the starting left end.

— Ernie Sims was flying around all day, but still can’t seem to make the big play. It appears as though he doesn’t fully understand the defense quite yet and is caught slightly out of position at certain points. Overall, however, Sims might have had his best game of the season.

— More than anything else, Moise Fokou seems like a smart football player. There was one point when Kerry Collins rolled out and was clearly looking to hit fullback Ahmard Hall, but since Hall was still in the backfield Fokou just dropped his shoulder into him and knocked him over. So far, it seems like Fokou and Akeem Jordan are interchangeable.

— Stewart Bradley is just going through the motions, it seems. He’s had some decent games, but this is not the borderline All-Pro we saw in 2008. Maybe he needs more time to recover from ACL surgery, but so far to say he’s been unimpressive is an understatement. I’m running out of ways to voice my displeasure with him.

— Speaking of displeasure, Ellis Hobbs and Nate Allen paired together as the most incompetent group of defensive backs in Eagles history. The 225 yards receiving by Kenny Britt was the most allowed by the Eagles in their entire 77-year history. Hobbs looked hurt and Allen just looked like he was thinking far too much and not relying on his instincts.

— When did Asante Samuel get stone hands? He’s dropped, by my count, at least five or six interceptions this season. He had a chance to intercept Collins when the game was 19-17 in the Eagles’ favor and dropped the pass in the endzone. Maybe Dick Jauron needs to get Samuel some work with the wide receivers.

— The only one to challenge Dixon as the best player on the defensive side of the ball was strong safety Quintin Mikell. With an interception, a sack, and a forced fumble, Mikell did all he could possibly do to help the team, and they blew it. As a note, the pick, fumble, and sack was the first time an Eagles defensive back has done that since Brian Dawkins in 2005.

— The best rebound of the week goes to David Akers. He went 4-for-4 on field goal tries and booted five touchbacks. Hopefully Akers has totally put his awful Week 6 performance behind him and will continue to prove it was an aberration.

— Sav Rocca once again looked like he belongs in the Pro Bowl. He had one punt into the wind that went a bit short, but that was the only gripe. He crushed the ball 63 yards on one punt and went over 60 yards one more time. As a punter and a holder, Rocca seems to really be grasping what is expected of him as an NFL player.

— It was a good news and bad news type of day for Jorrick Calvin. He had a fantastic 41-yard kick return that set up a touchdown, and then fumbled a punt near the end of the game. The Eagles were down eight points, but still had a shot. Calvin putting the ball on the ground effectively ended their last opportunity.

— The coverage teams were good once again. The Titans have had a good return game all year, but it looks like Bobby April is finally starting to get through to these guys. And if I didn’t like Akeem Jordan enough, the guy goes hard on special teams and was always at least around the ball if he wasn’t the guy making the tackle.

— On offense, the playcalling was probably a bit pass-heavy. The team doubled the amount of pass plays (48) to running plays (24), but that’s probably necessary when the team falls behind so quickly in the fourth quarter. First and foremost, Reid has to cut out the cute plays and just stick with what works.

— It’s time to fire Sean McDermott. Anyone who’s ever watched Kerry Collins knows the way to beat him is to blitz him. When he sees the blitz, he throws the ball away. McDermott did a little of it in the first half but, as has been the case this year, backed off in the second half and killed the team in the fourth quarter. We’ll talk more about McDermott, but it’s time for him to go.

— At 4-3, the Eagles are far from out of the race. However, they hit a hellish schedule and will need a much more stingy and consistent defense if they even want to finish .500. But that’s not going to happen under McDermott and this team is in big trouble moving forward.

Repost:

Wassup guys! Yesssssss Vick is coming back!!!

1st of all, I just want to take a minute to laugh at all the Kolb Lovers who are gonna jump back on the Vick bandwagon after we get this ship rolling afer the bye. You guys are a trip! “Give Kevin a chance, Give him a chance!” AWWW SHUT THE **** UP! Lol. I said it from the beginning and I’m going to say it now, KEVIN KOLB IS A BACKUP QUARTERBACK! A GOOD ONE, BUT JUST A BACKUP. You know, each game shows you a little more about a player. This game exposed Kevin’s arm strength and play under pressure. As soon as the defense rushed, he lost his poise in the pocket and took off like usually does. You can’t defend Kevin anymore, Its over, give it up!

No, I dont place sole blame on Kevin for this loss. The defense played horrible, especially giving up 225 yards to ONE PLAYER! But Kevin was the QB. Just like everytime we lost a game with Donovan, regardless if it was the line’s fault, defense’s fault, you guys always blamed Donovan. So Kevin is nobody special. He had a chance to win the game and he couldnt! Period. Never in my life have I seen an athlete (Kevin Kolb) get babied so much in Philly..or anywhere else for that matter. Let me see you give Mike Vick that same sympathy. There are a lot of biased people out there. Some racist but wont admit it…And some are just Haters that want to see Mike fail.

So with that said, I look so forward to Michael coming back and getting us to the playoffs. Lets go Eagles!

After reading that post, i think you just proved once again that your posts are just empty words. Pathetic if you ask me.

On another note, There are certain plays yesterday that Vick physically can make that Kolb can not. Call him a baby arm if you so desire. His arm strength is not where Vick’s is and no one has argued that, but Vick makes that play to Maclin running wide open into the end zone. Big Red said Vick is the starter so hopefully the bye will help get these guys healthy and ready to run against Indy.

I think you just proved that everything you say in a reply is irrelevant. Like, you had no keypoints backing up your statement about my post LOL. Dumbass! I’m just happy Kevin is not the QB. I feel as though he is a backup and if you think Im pathetic because of that, so be it, I gives a fuck. LOL. Kevin has a BABY ARM, don’t ignore the obvious. All of his deep balls over 40 yards were underthrown. Talk about PATHETIC. SMH. Last week, he hit Desean long, but that was all YAC. The ball went only 30 yards in the air. I can throw that!

Diz, I’m glad you are having your fun with this Eagles loss, I think that’s disgusting, but hey, at least one guy in Philly is happy after this weekend….

But the crux of your argument is that those who think Kolb may develop into a good QB, those who want him to succeed, those who praise him when he plays well, and/or those who want him to start over Vick (to be clear, that last part is not me)…. are A) – all the same person (HUGE GENERALIZATION), and B) – the same group of people (again, HUGE GENERALIZATION) who blamed everything on McNabb when the Eagles lost in the past.

That is just terribly flawed logic and lazy over generalization. Just because some fans did foolishly blame McNabb for every Eagles loss, that doesn’t mean you can just assume that anyone who disagrees with you (by rooting for a Eagle player for the love of god), should be lumped in with those fools.

You contradict yourself in almost every single post. You scorn the ‘vick haters’ (and assume that anyone who wants to give Kolb a shot hates Vick – that’s just ridiculous), and then HATE all over Kolb.

To say that “You can’t defend Kevin anymore, its over, give it up!”. Ok. So if Vick has 2 bad games this year, then we can say the same for him? Vick has already had 10 times the amount of bad games in the NFL as Kolb. Guess it’s all over for him too. So many QBs had bad games like this early in their careers – and don’t give me that 4 years experience crap, I’m talking about playing time… and went on to be quality starters. If you try to ignore that, you’re in denial, or just a plain Kolb hater.

Look, Vick should definitely start, and Kolb definitely had a bad game yesterday – though notably not as bad as Jake Cutler, Drew Brees, Donovan McNabb or Brett Farve…I’m not defending Kolb or saying he should be the starter. But I am saying that your comments were horrible diz.

That’s just ridiculously foolish. I’m not calling you a fool Diz, I’m criticizing what you posted, I hope you can see the difference.

Yeah. Its sad but I can say this much….I was willing to sacrifice a loss to get Michael Vick back as the starter and end this stupid ass controversy. Its not even an argument. Kevin Kolb cannot even compare to Michael Vick. You will see, trust me, you will see. Keep talking this shit about him playing weak defenses. You will see. Jump on Vick’s bandwagon now, do it.

Again, stop comparing Michael’s past to his present. 2 different players speaking hypothetically. 2 different systems, 2 different era’s, 2 different players and people for that matter if you count the change Michael has made in his life. Is Mike a Falcon now? No. So if his past is all you can hold against him, that is SO WEAK. You got me laughing right now. LOL.

Call me a Kolb hater if you want, I dont care. I wont get upset like the rest of you do LOL. The man is a backup and thats that. Short and Intermediate is all he can do. Damn shame. GCobb even said it.

But yeah I know you are not calling me a fool. I didn’t take it personally. I like to debate. Its what I do, especially when it comes to sports. Its all love, its all fun, no offense taken as I hope you won’t take offense from me. Your views are how you feel, as mine are too. That is whats up.

DizzyJ, your are obviously an idiot. The way that the defense played Dan Marino couldn’t have won that game …. or to make you relate better to Black QBs Warren Moon couldn’t have won that game. Any team that gives up 230yds and 3 TDs to one player is going to lose the game. How about last week when Kolb torched the Falcons, a top 10 Defense? Vick has only put up great numbers against 2 sorry defenses in the Jags and LIONS. He is going ot struggle big time against the Colts and the Eagles will lose the game. Your support for Vick is purely based on his race, your an idiot. If Vick continues to play as well as he has all season I will be fully on board. But he won’t Once the Eagles roll through the divisional games they will start to lose a bunch of games with Kolb or Vick. The Eagles as a team are undisiplined and McDermott needs to continue to blitz in the second half for the Eagles to have a chance. And how can you say Kolb had a chance to win the game when with 4:40 on the clock Reid punts the ball knowing he will have to burn all of his timeouts and the Titans have the best RB in the league. Then when the Eagles were down by 8 with about 3 minutes to go, they fumble the punt. How is getting the ball down by 15 with 2:20 left a chance to win the game? Your a moron. McNabb sucked in the clutch, if you don’t realize that your are in complete denial and the biggest dumbass alive. Reid has NO IDEA how to win lat eand manage the clock. What will your excuse be when Malcolm Vick X can’t score with 2:30 and the ball? Bottom line the Eagles aren’t a good team this year. Their Defense played 2 good games this season out of 6 and the Special Teams haven’t come up with big plays when they needed to. The Offense with Vick and Kolb has had 4 great games, 2 with Vick and 2 with Kolb. Stop your blind support like he’s the greatest QB ever. He didn’t win anything in Atlanta and you can’t say he’s a totally different Quarterback after 2 games. You also have to keep in mind Kevin Kolb has started 6 games total. That is less than Sam Bradford. Any judgement you make based upon the guy has to be good, he has had 6 CAREER starts you idiot. You should be comparing Kolb to guys like Josh Freeman, Sam Bradford, Brady Quinn or Jarmarcus Russel who were both drafted ahead of Kolb. Wow your such an idiot.

diz – it’s not a controversy. Vick was injured. Kolb is next on the depth chart. There was no controversy.

See again, you think that its Vick v. Kolb. I’m not jumping on a Vick bandwagon at all. I think Vick is awesome and I love what he brings to the football team. But I also think that you have to develop Kolb and hope he gets better.

You’re being incredibly hypocritical by saying that Vick can be an entirely different person than earlier in his career, and then that Kolb cannot develop and change his game over the course of HIS career. Do you see how messed up that line of thinking is? Michael Vick can be totally detached from…. who was it, oh yeah, HIM FREAKING SELF. But Kolb, nope, he can’t change. Not one chance.

Seriously Diz, and Songs, explain that to me. How can Vick change over time but Kolb can’t? And once again, how is it good for anybody (eagles fans) for Kolb to screw up and turn out to be a bad player? Kolb isn’t going to hinder Vick’s playing on the Eagles at all, but when Vick is out – like he has shown he can be, we need another guy to play QB. You guys act like you’d rather the backup play shitty so that your man crush starter can look better. I’d rather they both play well so that the team can succeed. I just can’t imagine how you value your crush over the Eagles winning…. that’s so messed up.

Diz, let’s say you were rich, and bought a nice car – let’s say a ferrari. Great! You have a an awesome ride! Enjoy it. But then lets say you go out and buy a Lamborghini too. Would you then want your Lamborghini to break down and fall apart so that your Ferrarri could look better? No, that would be ridiculous. You would want to have two good cars.

Now you can have fun with messing with my analogy and compare the ferrari to a pickup truck or crappy car if you want to point out that Vick and Kolb are not on the same level, go ahead, you will sound real smart. But that’s not the point of the analogy.

The point is, would you rather have 2 good things, or 1 good, and the other crappy to make your good one look even better?

If you have two kids, do you want your daughter to be a slutty, dumb, bitch, so that your son can look better? Or do you want both of your kids to succeed in life?

Point of the matter is Vick and Kolb are not my sons. LOL. But yes, I get your point and understand your analogies Schiller. I think a lot of people on here irk people, but thats what makes this site so fun aside reading GCobbs articles. But I hear you. The reason I am so big on Vick is because I know he is the QB for this team and should be for the next few years. He has it all and is learning more JUST LIKE Kevin, so no need in Kevin developing here because he probably won’t be here next year. I see promise in Kevin, but really, to me he is a backup. Arm strength is the biggest weakness of Kevin, not to mention patience in the pocket and poise. I don’t know about you…But I don’t have time to sit and watch Kevin develop. That shit could take 10 years! I want to win a Superbowl ASAP. So with that being said, since we know Vick is the best QB on the team, thats why I dismiss all that Kolb talk. It doesn’t matter. His development will be for another team hopefully. Life is too short to wait for Kolb to develop. I want a Superbowl ASAP.

So if you guys want to see Kevin develop, good for you. But apparently thats not gonna be under Andy Reid’s watch, as it wouldn’t be under mine either. Some QB’s got it, some don’t…and TO ME, Kevin just does not have it! Sorry folks.

Thanks Schiller for justifying me as a person as opposed to PW. Mancini is a dripping douche bag and a dickhead. Mr.Know-it-all is starting to sound like Mr.Know-nothing-at-all with each passing day…SMH @ you Mancini you silly motherfucker you LOL

Dizzy, you clearly are not a true Eagles fan. We don’t need another douche like you on this chat board who just ridicules everyone; that’s all your posts do. Keep some perspective, we have defended Kolb not because we think he’s a great QB or that he’s better than Vick, but because people were crucifying him after one half of the Packers game. I agreed already that Kolb did not play well yesterday but not every quarterback in their first season as the starter plays well EVERY SINGLE GAME. Should we pull up some of Vick’s previous stats and talk about how bad he is? Nobody, at least me, is trying to say Kolb is better than Vick. Vick has FAR more experience in the NFL than Kolb so we expect Vick to better than Kolb. To you and Songs, if you want Vick as the starter, I don’t blame you. But to sit here and call people who defend Kolb “dickheads” just shows how little you know about football and little you are in general.

We should be tied for 1st in the NFC going into this bye. But not our Eagles. Always have to make things more “interesting”. Once again, Brent Celek and Stewart Bradley are overrated players hyped by the media. These guys are ghosts in crucial situations. No one on the D-line is a full time NFL starters besides Cole. And anyone who thinks you can just put another corner in there with Nate Allen doesn’t know football. You can’t put a guy out there who may or may not be comfortable with the scheme and pair him up with your rookie safety who may or may not be comfortable with the scheme. Hobbs knows the scheme but he was just getting beat. Period. And you can’t switch it and put Allen on Samuel’s side because now he has to worry about Asante leaving his man to jump and underneath route and if you safety isn’t good enough, it’s a 60 yard touchdown. So Mikell has to stay over there because he knows Asante and is good enough to at least be in position to try to make a play.

The secondary worries me. Mostly because of the corners. Hobbs is just a liability and Asante puts too much pressure on your safety to make a big play or cover speedy receivers. Teams that press the issue will be able to make big plays on us for the rest of the year.

I don’t understand why it’s always about the quarterbacks. Maybe we should have everyone else go to the sideline and have the 2 quarterback go at it. The defense gave up 37 points yesterday. If you need to single out a player why not Hobbs who gave who gave 225 yards and 3 TD’s to Kenny Britt. I didn’t realize that Britt was the next coming of Jerry Rice or Collins was Joe Montana.

Concerning the quarterbacks it all comes down to Vick being the quarterback that we saw over 3 games or the one that we saw in Atlanta. He hasn’t proven anything yet.

This is Philly is ALWAYS about the Quarterback…It was for the last 10 yrs…lets not talk about the Defense NOW…There were plays to be made yesterday and Kolb did not make them..We were 1 for 4 in Red Zone and converted 4 of their last 12…That’s not going to WIN many games in this league..Prior to that they converted 7 of 8 when #7 was under center
If you praised him when he looked good then criticize when he looks bad it’s that simple

dtime, in case you didn’t notice, in Philly for the last 11 years it’s always been only about the QB. The defense has been great but the QB cost us every game we lost. Pardon my sarcasm but fair or not, the QB will get the most heat. Knowledgeable and fair football fans will know to pass the blame around but here I think a lot of people want Kolb treated the same as McNabb. Don’t baby him and now change how you treat QBs. Treat him the same. Fair or not. For some people it would have just been easier to admit you just didn’t like McNabb rather than claim to be objective but your actions clearly show your bias. Because you made yourself into a hypocrite. But I feel you though, it’s not fair but it comes with the job…. at least in Philly, right?

@Gotta Luv It, I criticized Kolb for his plan yesterday on multiple posts. He did not play well. His lack of arm strength also concerns me. Unlike Songs and Dizzy, I can admit things how they are. I hope Vick lights it up against the Colts (I’ll actually be at the game). But Dizzy and Songs just trash Kolb and everyone this site for no reason. They gave him no praise when he played a solid game against San Francisco nor did they give him praise when he lit it up against Atlanta. They also discounted his two games last year when he threw for 300+ yards in back to back games saying the defenses were terrible. Well, those defenses combined certainly weren’t as bad as Jacksonville or Detroit. I believe the New Orleans defense was a “Superbowl Champion” defense.

Dizzy, I have a new challenge for you if you’re up to it. Lets see how often you can use the acronym LOL in your posts. The amount of time you used it, I have to go with my gut feeling that you are in fact a legitimate Giants fan and you’re probably around the age of 13-14 (give or take a year). How close did I get?

What did Kevin do that I should like him for BTC? Huh? Won 2 games for us? WOW. I know Vick won 2 games too, but Kevin has no arm strength and he is very boring as a player with all of those short passes. We need some Excitement. Hail Michael Vick baby! Fuck a Kevin Kolb LOL…..

I have a new challenge for you…Lets see how often you bring up your favorite QB Kevin Kolb each post. I would have actually guessed your age to be around 8 or 9. I’d be surprised if you were any older. Your intelligence is wayyyy off buddy. As far as the Giants comment, I wont even pay you any mind. I GUARANTEE Im more of an Eagles Fan than you and a lot if not all of these people on here. Guarantee. I just second your loyalty. You’re the one who wants a loser to be our QB (kolb) Hmmm…Says a lot.

Dizzy, I never said you should like Kevin Kolb. I never even said Kolb should start or that he was a great QB. I just don’t think during his first year as a starter that’s it’s fair to call him the things you do which I won’t even repost out of respect for the others on this site. However, I don’t want a QB to start just because they’re “exciting” to watch or because they have a stronger arm; I want whichever QB to start who will win us games. I agree at this point that person is Vick. But I think in time, Kolb will continue to develop into a solid starter in the NFL.

Ok BTC, I respect that. I just feel as if Vick is more of a winner than Kevin is.

Diz – Jamarcus Rusell had a great cannon. Real strong arm.

Does that tell you something? It’s not all about arm strength.

Sure, Vick does a lot more things than just throw the deep ball. And he’s way better than Russell. but you’re harping on one point – that’s weak – like a dickhead (to put it in our terms).

If our RCB could have covered Britt, we would have had that win. PERIOD.

Bob

Excellent recap!

I’d like to address Reid being pass heavy.

Reid had fairly good balance until just prior to the 2-minute warning. Then, it was like a switch was clicked on.

Of the 24 total runs called in the game, only 7 were called after that “switch” was turned on (one of which was the “lucky” touchdown by Riley Cooper.) The pass to Cooper should have been picked off and it also should have been a warning to Reid. Instead, Reid went on to throw 77% of the time after the “switch.”

Prior to the “switch,” Reid ran 17 times and passed 24 times for a 59% ratio. This lead to the 9-point lead.

Against the 49ers and Falcons, Reid averaged 52% running.

27 runs, 31 passes against the Niners
38 runs, 29 passes against Falcons

Even if you throw out the 16 runs at the end of the Falcons game, Reid passed only 54% prior to that.

With such success, why would he throw 77% of the time with a 9-point lead?

My bad! The “lucky” TD to cooper, obviously, was not a run.

To give Vick his best opportunity to succeed, Reid must go back to a “more balanced” attack. He should never throw more than 60% of the time.

Let’s not forget that all those passes lead to 4 consecutive 3-and-outs at the end of the game, which gave the defense little time to rest (or strategize)

This reminds me of the North Carolina Conference Championship game, in which we were running the ball down their throats. Runyan told Reid that he owned his man, then went on to prove it. We drove all the way down field picking up chunks of yardage. Then Reid got the bright idea to throw a pass . . and the rest is history.

If it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it.

No, Schiller, you’re taking what you want to take out of my statements. Vick has everything over Kevin. Maybe except accuracy, but you’re talking about ONLY a 6% difference in that…And thats due to deep balls. Mike Vick is a duel threat, with not just a cannon of arm but he is a playmaker Schiller! Cmon man! So what you are saying sounds real dichheadish to me…In my terms.

Schill,

Another way to look at it is, if the offense had scored or even picked up a first down or two, we would have won the game. It’s kind of difficult for Britt to score when we have the ball.

Maybe beacuse the TItan Defense is one of the lowest ranked Defense’s against the Pass this Season
even though he have lots of Scaks and INt’s, but from a yardage measure, they have given up a lot thru the air as opposed to the Rushing Defense which is pretty good..

Woooooo! Gone back and read some of the posts. Aren’t we ALL Eagles fans? What’s up with all the name calling and dissing?

With just a little effort, we can disagree without being disagreeable. Just some food for thought.

Paul

I assume you were answering my rhetorical question. If so, my response. Well, you see what it got us.

9-point lead prior to the pass-happy stuff
18-point loss post the pass-happy stuff

2-game win streak prior to the pass-happy stuff
1-game loss post the pass-happy stuff

And it will eventually lead to a QB injury.

Besides, it wouldn’t matter if we were playing against Girls High. History has proven that throwing the ball 77% of the time can only invite disaster.

As far as I’m concerned, Kolb’s lack of arm strength is not the biggest issue. We can play “small ball,” something the Phillies should also learn. (Let the record show that I’m still proud of them.)

What concerns me most is Kolb’s propensity to throw into coverage and it seems that he’s easy to rattle.

When you consider that he was our first pick 4 years ago, I’m not impressed.

Scorpiodus, I guess your right I do think this is a fairness issue. I can’t speak to the issue of other cities. I’ve been a Eagles fan all my life. But I also think there is judgement problem. If you go back to most of major defeats the Eagles have had over the past years they have been team efforts. In most of those games the defense and the offensive line have come up way short. That includes the super bowl and both games against Dallas last year. I know we want to win games now but before we run Kolb out of town they need to know if Vick is the answer. Only one can stay at the end of the season. Vick had his problems in Atlanta and at times wasn’t a very good quarterback. Hopefully the Michael Vick that saw against Detroit is the real Michael Vick

LMAO!!!!

Folks call a spade a spade! Stop making excuses!
Kolb did not move the ball in the 2nd half…Now you all want to blame the defense for yesterdays loss!! What about how good the defense played against the 49ers with 5 take aways, and the way they man handled the Falcons….Where was the credit then? I was on these posts last week, and it seemed many were just praising Kolb for the wins…But when the Eagles lose, now its a team loss??? I do agree it was a team loss yesterday, but stop making excuses for Kolb! If you watched the game, you’ll see that we didnt move the ball in the 2nd half especially the end of 3rd and 4th quarters….If a team scores, then the offense has to respond, regardless! With Kolb we seem to kick too many fields goals in the red zone! Same thing has happened in every single Kolb start!! In Redzone you are supposed to score TD’s….

Our safeties did a poor job keeping Britt in front of them!

To put it politely, Kolb is no “franchise QB.”
