Cliff Lee: “I didn’t mind seeing them get beat….. because they got rid of me”

How do you feel if you carry a team thought the playoffs and World Series by pitching like the best pitcher in baseball then they get rid of you.  You feel like Cliff Lee of the Texas Rangers.

He gave mixed messages yesterday when asked about his feelings concerning the Phillies.

“I pulled for those guys individually,” he said. “But I didn’t mind seeing them get beat, either. Just because they got rid of me.
That was one side of it but he had more.

“What’s weird,” he said, “is that part of me wanted them to win. So I could face them in the World Series, too.”

“It would have been a lot of fun,” said Lee.. “When a team gets rid of you, it’s funny how you have a knack for stepping up a little more when you face them. There’s a little more incentive to beat them, and that’s definitely the case with me watching them.”
Say what you want but Lee is the kind of guy you want to hand the ball to with everything on the line.  He’s a standup guy, who I hope does well in the series.
Still pitching wasn’t our problem.  It was the bats that let us down.
With the Phillies and the Yankees out of the World Series, it seems that nobody really cares very much who wins it.  You know the FOX is taking a bath because of the Rangers and the Giants beating the favorites and earning a trip to the World Series.
I like the Rangers in the series, but expect it to be close because of San Francisco’s combination of quality starters and a deep bullpen.

Let me begin by saying I am grateful for everything that Halladay did this year he is a GREAT pitcher but….I have not heard one time that he was unbeatable, I have not heard one time that a team shouldnt show up when Halladay pitches. When Lee pitches things like the Yanks lose game 1 3 and 7 if Lee pitches. They say Lee is unbeatable. Lee is 7-0 in the playoffs with a era under 2.00. Ok so you swap him for Halladay and we deal with that. But on top of that you in essence swap him for Oswalt who is nowhere near Lees level on top of that. So Lees thinking Im the most dominating picture in baseball in the post season and you didnt even make me an offer. Thats ridiculous. Ask Texas if they are where they are at without me.

Cliff Lee will be a Dallas Cowboy next and their Starting QB…
Jerry Jones will not have the most popular athlete in Texas playing for someone other than his own
team, it keeps him up at night and gives him the shakes just thining about a Texas Ranger Parade

There still was no reason to get rid of Lee , Ok ,he was going to ask for the big bucks the next year .so what !! Here they could have had Halladay and Lee and Lee could have been the difference for them to beat the Giants because the Giants probably would have not scored any runs against Lee the way he is pitching now . They were afraid of not being able the sign Lee for next year but they turn around and give the bum Ryan Howard 25 million a year for 5 years and Joe Blanton 5 million a year for 3 years ,go figure !! Besides they still have a problem with signing a player , Werth , that they cannot afford to lose ,and don’t give me that Dom. Brown is going to fill ,Werths shoes next year because I don’t think thats going to happen for another 3 years because I don’t think Brown is polished up enough for the big leagues as of yet . If they want to keep Brown around and play him next year, they better keep Werth and figure out a way to unload Ibanez and Howard if they want to win next next year because they are not going to make the playoffs without Werth because he does to much for this team .

I think it came down to GM Amaro having a “Hard-on” for Doc Halladay so bad, that he
didn’t want the friction of having both Lee & Doc in the rotation and wanted the 2010 Season to
be “Doc’s” team…

This IS Doc’s team. He is the best pitcher in baseball. Period.
