Herremans Practices, Kobe Sends Jerseys, Hunting Rodgers, Barkley Goes Off

All the serious practice work has been done.  There will be a walk through workout tomorrow but the real work has been done.  The coaches hope they have covered everything.  The players hope they’re ready.  It’s time to take a deep breath, get away from the game for a minute or two and relax.

Michael Vick and his teammates will try to top the other amazing performances they’ve had this year.  They also want to correct the image of that awful game against the Vikings.

I knew DeSean Jackson was a Kobe Bryant fan.  It was no surprise since Jackson grew up in L.A.  He’s gotten into friendly arguments with other players about the Lakers during the time he’s been here.

It was a surprise to see Michael Vick be showcasing a signed Kobe Bryant jersey.  According to Philly.com, Vick had a Bryant jersey at his locker today and it was signed, “To Mike Be Epic! Kobe 24.”

Eagles left guard Todd Herremans missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday after straining a calf muscle in a walk through workout, but he practiced today and promises to be ready on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles must have Herremans if they want to have success running the football against the Pack.  Herremans has the size and strength to get off on the Green Bay linebackers and dominate.

The Birds need a big game out of defensive end Trent Cole and he knows it.  He loves to hunt for animals in the wild during the off season, but during the season, Trent loves to hunt for quarterbacks.  He loves to hunt with a bow and arrow.

According to Philly.com, Cole has Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in his scope and he had him displayed in his locker room today.

“I’ve seen previous games where he’s gotten disrupted when people start hitting. He’s been through a couple concussions and all that stuff, and, like I said, we’ve got to get on him early and get on him fast and I think it’s going to create problems for him,” Cole said Friday.

Charles Barkley went off on Tucker Carlson on his TBS show. He ripped Carlson for making statements about Michael Vick.

I love Charles Barkley!

He told the media to stop blaming him for Sixers’ losses, saying that he had asked Harold Katz for some help and told him to go get Shack. Then, Katz came back with Charles Shackleford, instead Shaquille O’Neal. That’s why the Sixers were losing.

Now, that’s the truth.

He also said Philly is the only town where they blame the best player for the teams’ losses, not the bad players, not the mediocre players, but the best players.

And that’s the truth, too. If you don’t believe me, just read some of the posts on this site.

Barkley also spit on a young girl, said he is not a role model, even though thousands looked up to him, a disgraceful athlete, and he should shut his mouth

Why do you hate yourself so much? You never say anything positive.

If my comments bother you, don’t read them. I certainly don’t want to add to your sorrows.

Hey drummer, I don’t give a damn about feelings, especially your feelings, I care about results, being held accountable for your results, misery maybe, but you brought up Barkley, a bum to me, I could talk about positive things, Jakedog at top of list, but this blog is about the eagles, for history, a miserable history, filled with excuses, especially at the qb position of late, with 5 but hopefully rectified by 7, but I will not buy in to lala land until a win against green bay.

I don’t mind what you say about me. I know who I am, but it does bother me to know that you’re so angry, man. Whatever’s really eating at you can be dealt with, if you take the proper steps. Needlessly attacking people on this site isn’t going to help. Misdirecting your anger only adds to your problems.

I hope you feel better. I really do.

I’m enjoying the season. It’s merely a form of entertainment. The Eagles don’t pay my bills and I’m not so emotionally wrapped up in the team that it causes me unhappiness.

Just like Vick, I understand that there are more important things in life than the Eagles. My joy comes from within, regardless of whether the Eagles win, lose, move to LA.

You’re sitting there obsessing over Vick and he doesn’t even know your name, doesn’t know you exist. Don’t you think that’s a bit ridiculous?

Like I said, I hope you feel better.

That’s great news that Herremans will be playing. I saw on ESPN last night that he was Questionable and wondered how we would win this game without our BEST offensive lineman.

Andrew Reid, your lack of balance gets on my last nerve. But I have to thank you for this season.

You made a tough decision to sign Mike Vick. Then you made the unpopular decision to start Vick. I still remember Ray Didginer’s article crying like a baby. He acted like Kolb was his only son and had been abused by evil Eagles. Like he was the first person in NFL history to lose his job. Pathetic.

When the season started I though the team would got 8-8 maybe 9-7 as Kolb got broken in. But here we are in the play-offs. This Sunday after worship service my only thought will be preparing for the Eagles game. Fried chicken wings from JJs chicken and fish on 8 mile. Perfect. Will fire up the grill with hot sausages for after halftime.

It is a great joy to have the hope of the SuperBowl. Even if it’s just for a weekend.

This Thank you does not change anything. Should the team lose, I will still complain about every mistake you made. Then after 24 hours to stew, I will think of some more things to complain about. Then I will start looking at potenial draft picks for next year, Like I had a say in the matter.

OK BIG RED. LET’S MAKE EAGLES HISTORY. E A G L E S EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paulman’s SAturday Game Predictions

Seahawks 23- Saints 20 .. (the upset of the playoffs)
Saints have some banged up players – Saftey M Jenkins RB’s P Thomas & RB C Ivory, LB D Clark and back-up TE J Graham a lot in the 2 TE sets the Saints use are all out..
If the Seahawks can get a big play or two from their Offense or Special Teams early (Kick/Punt returner Leon Washington is very good) and the Saints Special Teams has struggled this years..
When Seattle’ sfans are into the game, it’s a very tough place to play, a godo start by Seahawks
is critical

Indy Colts 27 – NY Jets 20
Colts and Manning keep the Jets Defense on their heels most of the game by attacking the middle
of the field with TE Thamme and quick slants and also pound the ball with a healthy RB Addai and Brown.. he Jets inability to run the ball effectively puts the game in QB Sanchez’s arm and he is unable to deliver, throwing a couple of picks and getting sacked with a costly fumble to the pressure of Freeney & Mathis who both have very strong games after having so-so seasons

Saints,Jets,Birds,Ravens,and Sixers.

Upset of the weekend…Sixers win a game.

I like the attitude Trent has…he knows its up too him too get home,JP and the rest of the d-line is crucial tomorrow. Run game will do the trick and stonewall that blitz. Go Birds.

Barkles the clown always gets my seal of approval. He was a stooge and made mistakes and acted scumbaggish. But i think he came correct on all that mess with the spitting incident. And he’s right noone blames the real bums that made zero plays. Just the guys who did ..they say they didnt make enough. Greedy.

Jakedog…the Eagles history is not yet written..so how can it be miserable and i think your a tool for saying so…but you dont give a sh!t so whats it matter anyway. In struggle theres oppurtunity to continue too learn the game. And when they win it all..imagine the feeling…the pride..thats why they get my seal and support no matter what happens during the season.Cause really…they want it just as much as us. Believe that.

GOT THIS FROM PRO FOOTBALL TALK

Lovie Smith says the Bears are preparing to face the Saints
Posted by Mike Florio on January 6, 2011, 9:05 AM EST
Though the Philadelphia Eagles shouldn’t need any extra motivation this weekend when it comes to playing the Packers, they may have picked up a little more motivation when it comes to playing the Bears in the divisional round.

If the Eagles can first beat the Packers.

Bears coach Lovie Smith said Wednesday that his team is preparing to face the Saints next weekend, which means that the Bears believe that the Saints will beat the Seahawks — and that the Packers wll beat the Eagles.

The Bears upended the Eagles in Chicago during the regular season. Actually, half of the Eagles’ six losses in 2010 game against teams from the NFC North, and they’ll have to go 2-0 against the top two teams in the division if they want to fulfill a destiny date between Mike Vick and his former team, the Falcons.

ANYBODY LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAYING THE BEARS?

Anybody read the post by Bob Ford on philly.com regardig Reid? At the end of the article he provides a few stats about Eagles post season that are not enouraging…

During Reid’s tenure, the Eagles have met up in the playoffs against a team that beat them in their last (or only) meeting of that regular season.

It happened in the 2000 season vs. the Giants; in 2001 vs. the Rams; in 2006 vs the Saints; and in 2009 vs. the Cowboys. The Eagles record in those games: 0-4.

There have been a total of 12 postseason games under Reid in which the Eagles have played a team they met at least once in the regular season (win or lose). Their record in those games: 5-7.

Sunday is the 13th. Maybe it will be a lucky one.

MTC, the fun thing about stats is you can find some to prove whatever you want. Andy is also 6-0 in opening home playoff games and Packers are 0-4 in opening road playoff games. But they are all diff teams so I can’t really put too much confidence or have too much fear from either. My prediction Birds 27-Pack 20.

Randall – Good point and I know what you say to have some weight. I found what he wrote interesting, like I do many stats, but you can’t predict what’s in a football players heart on gameday which can make all the difference in the workd. Who wants it more? Hopefully, it’s the birds and they take care of business. They certainly have the ability. The fans really need to bring their A game on every Packers offensive play. The home crowd can’t afford to take a play off and help the home town team.

Agreed MTC. I think us getting essentially a bye and Green Bay playing a very physical must win game versus Chicago is a big advantage to us. You know Andy was prepping early for the Pack so hopefully his bye week record will play into this too. Fans presence will be huge but I don’t think that will be a problem.
I think playing the no respect card will help too as about 80% of the “experts” are picking the Fudge Packers. Can’t wait till tomorrow. GO BIRDS!

Thank you for putting things in proper perspective. This is entertainment after all. Have you noticed that after the game most of the players shake hands or pat each other on the back; even though they’re on opposite teams. The haters seem to be the guys who never played the game.

Anyway at this time of the season we’re always told that playoff football requires that your team has to be able to run the ball and stop the run. Eagles seem to have those qualities while the Packers do not. Lets hope that Coach Reid develops a game plan to incorporate his teams strengths and not have Vick taking seven step drops and throwing the ball 60 yards 50 times.
