Vick: Nothing’s Going To Bother Me Or Make Me Sensitive

The Eagles had finished their Wednesday practice a couple of days ago and Michael Vick was at his locker in the locker room and surrounded by a large group of reporters.  He was having a conversation with a couple of media people who had been critics of his during his recent tailspin.

He turned to them with a smile and said, “You guys can’t write or say anything that’s going to bother me or make me sensitive”.  His smile was full with all his teeth showing.

Vick turned and made a memorable point.  He said, “All you guys are talking about is football.  It’s just football you’re talking about”.  Vick started laughing when he finished the sentence.

He caught his breath and said, “Everything you guys say, I’m going to use as motivation”.  Vick continued laughing.

I don’t know if those guys knew where he was coming from but I did.

How is a guy who had just spent 19 months in a federal penitentiary going to be intimidated by people talking about his football game?  Vick is used to being told much worse than, “he’s peaked and never going to play football at the same level he played at earlier this season”.  He’s not going to be bothered by somebody reporting that he’s going to get benched if he does start this game fast.

How many times do you think Vick has heard people say he’s an animal and not worth living?  How many times do you think he’s heard people call him a monster, who less than a human being?

To Vick, if you’re talking about his football game, it’s no big deal.

Don’t get me wrong, the Eagles quarterback knows that this is an important game, but at the same time, he’s not going to be overcome by it. He’s going to play his game and stay calm, cool and collected.  This may be the biggest advantage that he and the Eagles have.

It really is just a football game. The team that eliminates mistakes will win.  There will be no panic in the Eagles quarterback because he’s faced far greater challenges than playing the Packers in a playoff game.

He had said earlier in the year, that when he gets on the field, it’s still a game and that’s what makes it fun.  We’re all going to enjoy this one and nobody will enjoy it more than Michael Vick.

mr. Cobb, must disagree strongly, much more than a game to Vick, relatively speaking he is flat broke, has millions tp pay back to creditors, some on sliding scale depending on salary into future, millions, maybe 100 million resting on how he plays this game

Agree G…it is a kids game. And not federal prison where you have too mop floors and can do sit-ups,p-ups and jumping junges for some fun. He’s gonna be with his new family who has his back and could care less about his debt, image, and media garbage. He’s gonna dice the Packers and send them home for cheese and P.B.R. in a can.

Everyday i feel better about this game because our q is on a mission.

His big payday will come no matter what happens Sunday.

Look my whole thing is that Vick has already made his mark for this franchise….. He’s made this organization a ton of money…… Alot of the Eagles games have been televised almost every sunday and we have the most night games that i’ve never seen before…. I live in Charlotte NC and I’ve seen more Eagle games at home than me living in NY….. THats saying something…… He has given great NFL moments maybe in Philly history…. ANd there is plenty more to come……..

Yes I believe he’ll use this media attention towards his advantage this coming sunday……. He loves the game of football…… ANd has the heart and will and desire to overcome anything in front of him…. he can handle media attention……. I cant say the same thing to some athletes who cant handle it the same as he can…….. It’s a game where you are suppose to enjoy your job…… I like his attitude… ANd how he carries himself….. More media non-sense is going to fuel him and this team to success……. After we beat GB……. Than the’ll say that Chicago will beat us as well…… Media Sucks…now……. I wish they will shut up and just let these men play football!!!

Watching some playbook on NFL.com and Baldiner is saying some things that surprised me a bit.. They say the Eagles dont do alot of hot reads, also said the Eagles offense doesnt really have audibles….

No Aubibles?

That explains why they look like they arent adjusting to anything going on out there… The Qb has practically no power to to change anything at the line… I figure it was the same with #5..

About the best the Qb can do is to change the O-line assignments to try and pick up the blitz….

Eagles need to be able to adjust out there a little better than that

Jakedog that is a dumb ass statement. Knowing the oline sucks and the defense sucks its fans like you that make it impossible for players like Vick to succeed, He cant win. You know this isnt a Superbowl team. But yet your ready to kill Vick already. This is a 5 win team without Vick what part is so hard to understand? Fans like you will kill the best player on the team and give a pass to others.lol. You think Manning will get crucified if they lose Saturday? Oh no the injuries will be talked about. This is 5 WIN TEAM without Vick. You should kiss the ground he walks on. Thankful that we arent talking Phillies right now and how Kolb SUCKs. Theres not 1 damn thing he can do this Sunday that would make me criticize him. Because I know this is ALL POSSIBLE because of him. No ONE else just him.

yeah PW, I would have to agree…we have surpassed when most would have thought before the season…Vick has definately won me over….and I do believe he has a warrior mentality….he has shown real leadership on a team that was looking for a leader….yeah, i remember those sb or bust discussions about kolb vs. mcnabb expectations, so we really shouldn’t lower our expectations with vick, but I have to admit that once he is signed I will feel better about the direction of the team over the next few years….vicks play has covered up alot of holes on this team, work to fill those holes and this will be a beast of a team….GO BIRDS!!!

Vick is the QB of this team and I’ll stand by him no matter. He’s know adversity and risen out of it. Too many have tried tearing him down when they have never walked in his shoes. It’s a team game no matter who’s QB… play as team, win as team, lose as team and Mike Vick knows that. He’s got the heart to lay it all out there. This guys deserves far more respect than most the punk national media (and certain local frauds) are willing to give. Go Mikey and Eagles.

some of you crack me up, the expectations were raised significantly because of the unforseen, unparalleled transformation of a qb’s play, mvp worthy season, hall of fame comeback performance, etc., but now maybe some chinks in the armour, maybe mirage and resorting back to atlanta days, these are legitimate questions, which maybe answered in part on sunday, and all well-intentioned eagles fans want the qb to succeed sunday, but why are some already apologizing for future failure?

You give me a headache. Its easy for you to stand in your position with Mike Vick because you have nothing to lose. If we win everyone will be excited and you will just come back with how he will come up short next week and if we lose you will look like you were on the right side of the argument.

If the Eagles come up short it won’t be because of Vick. It will be due to what I believe has been the problem and reason for loses in 3 NFC Champ games. That is the inability to consistantly pressure the QB without blitzing.

LOL @ Green!

Vick’s been through whats gotta be the worst point of his life…from that nothing anyone says should bother him…this more personal things that the media could be talking about, the fact is that Vick’s play this season, silenced a lot of the dog talk…When he rips the Packers this weekend, its going to silenced it even more…Right now thats football should only be the talk, which I’m sure is what Vicks been thinking bout for the last two weeks.

paulman

Vick has nothing to prove, He just needs to play his game and the Coaches have to have a balanced game plan where he can go out and perform and not try to force the big plays when they are not there… As long as he protects the ball and gets decent time and makes a few plays with his legs in the game, he and the Eagles will be fine..

But there is a little buzz around Chaney. Cowboys tight end Jason Witten raved about him. NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger said Chaney is “already one of the best middle linebackers in the league” after getting just a glimpse of him. Most important, the Eagles seem comfortable letting Bradley take his time to recover because of what Chaney brings to the game.”He can run with anybody,” safety Quintin Mikell said. “He can attack the ball. He tackles well. We have all the confidence in the world in him.

The Vick watchers crack me up. “He might revert back to Atlanta days sniffle sniffle”. You mean the days when he was a perennial probowler and led his team to a championship games? When the Vick experience was on every channel and highlight reel? Them days? I will take them days every Sunday over the Carson Palmers and Jason Campbell days.lol Them days get me 10 wins a year and a shot. Now that he can throw thats just a bonus. But lets stop with the dumb ass comments about his Atlanta days. He was pretty damn effective in his own right. You act like he couldnt play in Atlanta. Ill take a non-throwing Vick over a non-athletic, candy arm Kolb every day of the week. The Kevin Kolb experience coming to a theater near you.

Eagles in a romp 37-3 over the Packers

C Hall with 4 Td’s to set a Playoff Record.. 1 on a rushing play, 1 pass reception (Shovel Pass)
1 On the 2nd half Kiick-off when E Buckley laterals to him and the final TD on a Pun Return when
D-Jax laterals him the ball for the final 10 yards….

As I read some of the comments, I got the impression that Michael Vick will be playing the Packers on Sunday. Thank God, that’s not true! It’s The Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting them.

While Vick and McCoy have been most responsible for this team’s success, it’s taken an entire team to win. But now, it’s the post-season and we’ll be facing the best of the best. The competition is more fierce and the loser goes on vacation. Everyone must step up their game and even if they do, Vick and McCoy will still have to carry the team.

Regardless, Vick understands that there are bigger things in life than trying to please us. He has the proper perspective and that helps to alleviate any pressure. As far as he’s concerned, he’s just thankful to no longer be occupying a prison cell and fending for his life. Even if he hadn’t made it back to the NFL, he’d still be appreciative. His new-found gratitude is obvious in his just-as-new work ethic, commitment and attitude. He’s turned his life around and that change is about to pay further dividends.

If the Eagles win this game, it only means more money and another opportunity to go further. Either way, Vick will still enjoy the fruits of his labor.

As for me, I have a smile on my face. This team has gone further than I ever could have imagined.

At the outset, I didn’t view Vick as a good QB, and his pre-season performance only validated that opinion. It’s a good thing that my opinion doesn’t really matter, because if it had, Vick would have been gone.

Instead, he’s given me one of the best Eagles’ seasons I can recall. For my entertainment dollar, I got the deal of a lifetime!! Even if the Eagles get ousted, which I doubt will happen, I’m a satisfied customer.

Droc34

Jake you have no point. I think Vick will play well and won’t be our problem. If he doesn’t play well then we can talk about why that didn’t happen. I personally believe Vick will have success on Sunday because he and the rest of the offense will be prepared. I got the Eagles winning 31-20

drummerwinslow

I like the Birds in a surprise blow-away.

Reid, with 2 weeks to prepare, shows that he’s learned some lessons and calls a great game that both protects Vick from further injury and allows him to showcase his skills. I look for Jackson to catch 3 passes of at least 30 years, 2 TDs from McCoy,140 yards from Maclin, 1 pick from Asante Samuel, and one great, game-changing play from Jamar Chaney.

Need I get any more specific? Hey, I’m only guessing, after all.

Some good news for the Eagles
Packers Starting Safety A Bigby is out for the game with a groin injury …
He’s probably their most Physical DB on their squad which will leave them to use back-up S C Peprah or Rookie M Burnett…
This should be good news for both D-Jax/Maclin and may even allow for some extra room in the middle of the field to operate..
Also out for the Packers is starting OLB F ZOmbo who has been pretty good for them versus the Run
