Jets May Be Able To Win It On The Ground, But I Like The Patriots

In the final game this weekend, Rex Ryan and his mouth running football team will take on the New England Patriots in Boston.  The Jets have a very talented football team, but they’re greatly overmatched at the quarterback position.

I consider Tom Brady is the best quarterback in the history of the NFL because he’s able to carry a team offensively with little talent, but he’ll protect the football at the same time.  He has a level of focus and discipline that makes Peyton Manning and Drew Brees look like turnover machines.

If the Jets could find a way to get a pass rush into the face of Brady, it might give them a chance.  He seems to read coverages and blitzes so quickly that I don’t think they’ll be able to get to him.

I give the Jets a chance to the beat the Patriots, if they’ll put the ball on the ground, shorten the game and stay away from turnovers. They need to plug in that “Ground and Pound” running attack which helped them get to the AFC Conference Championship game last season.

The big physical Jets offensive line and New York’s running backs LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene are capable of taking over the football game and dominating by controlling the football.  It’s the only chance that the Jets have.

Last year the Ravens went up to Boston in the playoffs and punked the Patriots by running the ball down their throats and beating up Brady.  It won’t be easy for the Jets to repeat that accomplishment.

The Jets can’t afford to leave Patriots defensive mastermind Bill Belichick along with second-year Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.  If Sanchez throws the ball more than 20 times, he’s going to get picked off a time or two.

The Patriots aren’t as good as everyone makes them out to be, but they don’t beat themselves, but they’re quick to take advantage of their opponent’s mistakes.  This team doesn’t turn the ball over, but they led the league in interceptions.

Of course the Jets defense must show up and play well, but the key will be putting the ball on the ground and keeping the ball away from Brady.  I don’t expect New England to attack Revis Island, but they will go after the other cornerback Antonio Cromartie because his technique is suspect when he isn’t up in bump and run.

I favor the Patriots by a touchdown because Sanchez can’t carry this game on his own, if they don’t dominate with their running game.  I like the Patriots in this one 27-13.

The golden child Brady isnt the best of all time in my opinion. Montana never lost a SB. He’s up there with the greats though. I’d take Elway over Brady anyday.
