Eagles Give D Line Coach Rory Segrest His Walking Papers

Now this is good news.  Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com reports that the Eagles fired defensive line coach Rory Segrest.  Now this move I agree with totally, but the guy you have to blame for Segrest being in the job to begin with is Andy Reid.

Segrest came to the organization without anything worth mentioning on his resume.  Before he came here he coached at Southeast Missouri State and Samford College.  Have you ever heard of Southest Missouri State and Samford College?  Since when do they have great football teams.  How did he get a job here?

The former Southest Missouri State and Samford College coach was given the special teams job.  He was horrible.  So what did Andy do since Segrest was so bad as a special teams coach.  He promoted him to be defensive line coach.

I think Andy was trying to help Segrest in his career but that’s not fair to the players on the football team and the rest of the coaches.  What on this guy’s resume is worthy of him being a member of the coaching staff in the first place?

Now you have wasted a year in the progress of the young defensive linemen, Brandon Graham, Daniel Te’o Nesheim and Ricky Tapp, which were supposed to be the key to this defense coming into its own.

Segrest might have been the fool who told the front office to get rid of Jason Babin, who had 13.5 sacks this season and Chris Clemons, who had 11 sacks this season.  They couldn’t play for Segrest but they left and all of sudden became stars.

Something isnt right. I cant put my finger on it but it isnt right. These moves are being made while Reid is on vacation? I think Reids job is in jeapordy. I really do.

Dag – Stop getting our hopes up! Seriously, if they were going to make a HC change they’d do that instead of focusing on underlings. A new HC would choose his staff. AR is going to be here as long as he wants to be..

Could thet Jets really eliminate the Colts, Pats and Steelers in their own backyard in 3 consecutive weeks?

Every Eagle fan who has the nerve to criticize Vick needs to step back and look at Brady. Its amazing what EVERY qb looks like when they have PRESSURE. Brady doesnt look so invincible when he has pressure. Yet we criticize Vicks play behind that pathetic line he played behind. We have alot of friggin nerve.

Anyone taking advice on Talent Evaluation from this fella Serest is the bigger fool..
They must be bringing in a DC from the outside and getting all the dirty work done now..
He’s been misplaced and was not been very succesful as “Special Teams” or “DL”
The Loyalty and same old, same old is officially out the window … GM Roseman (for Banner) are taking control whether Coach AR likes it or not..
I think it’s safe to assume that the new DC will not be Dick Jauron for if he was, then why wouldn’t they have annouced it yet… I think Jauron takes Browns DC position and Hires McDermott as Secondary Coach

Yeah, I saw Brady miss some blitzes (hot reads). In fact, a couple of corner blitzes, just like the ones used on Vick.

I think Paulman been calling for this about a year ago Drummer
Segrest was another late replacement Coach for the Returned Peter jenkins whodecided to retire once JJ got sick and again the Eagles were caught flat-footed and just stuck Segrest into the Position Coach with out much preparation or experience in that area
If you look at some of the real errors made in the last 2 years from the personnel to the Coaching staff, it’s kind of alarming if you ask me… Is LB R Shuey and or OL Coach Juan Castillo next…

Gonna be one heckuva 2nd half tonight. I love seeing Brady struggle. It happens so seldom and doesn’t usually last and there’s alot of game left. I love watchin’ those cheatin’ SOBs lose. I can only hope the Jets take it.

I know they wont do it but isnt it criminal not to go to a 3-4. The Jets, Greenbay, Pittsburgh and Baltimores defense arent just a little better than everyones elses they are alot better than everyone elses. Why wouldnt you convert? Get the players and make the change. I f I was owner I would say hmmmm I want a defense like Pittsburgh or Baltimores. Bring me one of thoer coordinators. Why is it so hard?

I hope that power is being shifted away from Reid and that is he on the hot seat. The pressure Reid may face if he knows his job is in jeopardy will either make him or break him. As the man in charge, all of the weight of the failures of this team falls on his shoulders.

The Jets arent winning this game because of the run however. Both teams have run it equally and just as effective as each other. The only difference is an INT and a dumb 4th down gamble.

Mimitaro – the run is a piece of the whole offense and keeps the D knowing that either might come their way. They have to be ready for either or get burnt.
