Jackson Tells His Story About Helping Bullied Teenager

Eagles Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson was just on ProFootballTalk Live this afternoon.  He talked about how he wound up jumping in a limousine and going up to New York to appear on the The View with teammates Todd Herremans and Jamaal Jackson, to  support young Nadin Khoury, a teenager who was brutally bullied by some of his classmates in Upper Darby.

During the appearance, the Pro Bowl wide out walked onto the set of The View with his teammates then took the Number 10 jersey off his back and handed it to Nadin, who was stunned.

Jackson said he found out about what had happened to Khoury, when he returned from the Pro Bowl and volunteered to take the ride up to New York to support the young man.

The speedy Eagles wide receiver described how he quickly bonded with the youngster and eventually exchanged numbers.   Jackson says he told the teenager to call him whenever he needed somebody to talk to.

DeSean was completely open while being interviewed by Mike Florio.  He said he never was bullied by his classmates but revealed that his brothers “bulled him and beat him up” when he was coming up which made him tougher. How did they catch him?  I guess they got him when he was sleeping. LOL

Join the club DeSean, my older brother, James bullied me and it made a better player.  I still feel like kicking his butt sometimes when I see him.

Of course Jackson wasn’t talking about the type of bullying which this youngster went through.  Khoury was hung on a fence upside down after being beaten by a group of teenagers.

DeSean said Green Bay’s Super Bowl MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers was one of the reasons he went to Cal.  DeSean recounted when he was a high schooler in Los Angeles earlier in the decade, when Rodgers came down there and engineered an upset win over the powerful USC Trojans.  He was majorly impressed to the point that he wanted to go to Cal and play with Rodgers.

Unfortunately Rodgers left for the NFL, so he and Jackson never played together, but they became good friends during the times Rodgers would come back and visit the school.

Regarding his contract:  “I really think my agent Drew Rosenhaus and the Eagles Joe Banner, Howie Roseman and Coach Reid will get it done.  I think we’ve got a good plan concerning the contract to get it done.”

He’s confident that his contract will get worked out because of the way he has played and put it all on the line for the Eagles.

18 Game Season:  They players need more security if the management wants them to play 18 games a season.  Jackson believes there should be additional guarantees in the contracts.  D-Jax said if they’ll start guaranteeing the contracts with insurance or money, then he believes they can start playing 18 games a season.  Jackson is also hopeful that the CBA will get worked out.

Anti-Bullying Non-Profit Organization:  DeSean mentioned at the end of the show that he is starting a non-profit which will be against bullying.
