Carimi is the best tackle in the draft, just ask him

It’s pretty much accepted that Wisconsin tackle Gabe Carimi is one of the top five tackles in this upcoming draft. I’ve seen where people have him ranked about second or third behind Boston College’s Anthony Castonzo and USC’s Tyron Smith.

But according to Carimi’s draft board, he’s number one.

“I’m completely confident in my game,” he said at the Combine per Tom Curran of CSNNE. “I really don’t have any problems. I know I’m going out there and perform. I know I’m the best tackle out there and I just have to play like it and act like it.”

Castonzo took the podium right after him and offered his own answer.

“That’s his opinion,” Castonzo said quickly.

Castonzo was then asked what will determine who the best is.

“It’s what we’ve already put on film,” he said. “I’m not gonna stand up here and say I’m better than him or he’s better than me. It’s for the scouts to decide based on what we put on film. This is just the capper right here.”

I would love to know if Carimi is approaching the other tackles in Indianapolis and asking, “figure it out yet?” a la Iceman from “Top Gun.”

Many mock drafts have the Eagles grabbing Carimi with their first-round pick, but we’ll see what happens.

I like his confidence and mean streak, but I don’t want the Eagles to grab him. The Eagles need a blind side tackle and he doesn’t fit the mold. He is more of a run blocking road grater that you would put at RT or LT in our case.

@jott I was thinking the same thing for awhile but the more I think about it, I don’t want the wheels to fall off Lesean so I’m saying the 2nd round is a running back then the rest should be Defense. We need to spell Lesean and I don’t want this turning into another 5 year wait like the one that happened with our Safety situation. I mean that took 5 years! They’re so dumb that it’s up to us fans to tell them what they need.

I am a huge Daniel Thomas fan – the Kansas St RB… he is a 3rd-4th round pick and a steal at that only because he will run a 4.6 40.
