Florida center/guard Mike Pouncey lived up to his billing as the best interior offensive lineman in this year’s draft. He’s 310 pounds with big strong arms and a thick and powerful lower body. You could tell right away that he’s one of the best athletes of the offensive linemen coming out in this year’s draft.
There’s a reason Florida was winning National Championships while the Pouncey brothers were playing there. He gives great effort and carries himself like a professional.
Pouncey ran a 5.12 which is better than what his twin brother, Maurkice ran last year. There is some importance to his time because of the fact that he’ll on the move at the offensive guard when pulling in front of sweeps or escorting a running back down the field on a screen. Pouncey looked good in the drills with sound technique and good athletic ability. He has great balance and has the ability to get out in front of LeSean McCoy on those screens the Eagles love to run. He will work very well in space which is the quality you need in an offensive lineman who you want to get out in front of a screen play.
He has the versatility to play center or guard which is something the Birds are looking for. He’s very bright, so he could make the 
calls at the center position, but he’s also strong enough to take on the big defensive tackles in the NFL.
It’s no surprise, he’s a keeper and would be a great pick for the Birds.
This young man won’t be on the board very long because of the bloodline. He shows the same aggressiveness, intelligence and body conrol that his brother showed a year ago. This would be a sure pick for the Birds, but they don’t know if he’s going to be there when the 23rd pick in the first round comes.
Pouncey said he met with 13 teams Thursday and a dozen on Friday, so 25 of the 32 teams in the league are interested in drafting him.
I stated last year that his Brother would be a great pick in the 1st Round (before they traded up of course and his brother went at #18 to the Steeler)
I got laughed at and ridiculed that the Eagles would never take a C/G with thier 1st Selction and that the Eagles simply don’t value the C/G positions enough to grade out as a 1st Round Selection… My Philosophy is that when you can get a player who can play right away and be a Starter for 10 years in the NFL with possible Pro-Bowl selections, and especially at a position of need, you have to grab that player… I see Mike going anywhere to #17 (Patriots to #22 with the Seahawks with teams like the Giants,TB Bucs,Chiefs and Colt as teams that would all be very interested in him)
The Eagles don’t like ” no brainers”, it doesn’t allow them to show how much smarter they are than everybody else. When’s the last time they took an obvious pick? I said it before and I’ll say it again, Andy’s his own worst enemy. If somebody else picked the players, even with his unbalanced offense, he might win a championship. That won’t happen so therefore he won’t. And I don’t mean the yesman accountant Roseman.

I have liked Pouncey all year…I believe he would be a starter for many years.
Speaking of bloodlines, I also like Heyward from Ohio State…any son of IronHead is ok for my team!
Bloodlines can tell a great deal…look at the Mathews…Mannings…or the Andrews sisters.
Did Pouncey say that he only wanted to play center like his brother at the Combine? If so, wouldn’t that lower his value to the Eagles? Would Pouncey be an upgrade at Center or Jackson and Jamaal could slide to RG?
I think Center is the only position that J Jackson can play effectively
I think McGlynn can slde over to RT since he played a lot of Guard while at Pitt
I did not hear about Pouncey only wanting to play Center, and that would hurt his stock/draft position if he did say/feel that way..
Rast and Youneed – can you give me an example of a ‘sure thing’ or ‘no brainer’ pick that the Eagles ‘missed’ that proved dumb?
I don’t agree with your assessment – I think the ‘sure pick’ is something the media makes people believe in, but in reality, is utter BS.
