Vick apparently a no show at gala

Before I get into this, let me just preface this by saying that there really isn’t much to write about regarding the Eagles right now. So before you crucify me for hammering Michael Vick, I’ll say that I’m as bored writing about this as you are reading it. But, we cover the Eagles here so I have to pass it along.

According to a report from WAVY-TV, Vick was supposed to be the honored guest of the Southeastern Virginia Arts Association Gala in Norfolk, VA. They said people were dropping $100 each to meet this “hero” (in quotes because the organization referred to him as that, not because I’m being sardonic), but that they never saw him there. Some were upset and walked out.

WAVY-TV tried to reach the association for comment, but didn’t connect with them. They also said their television cameras weren’t allowed inside the event. But WAVY-TV did say that they were told that Vick was indeed going to be there.

Is this Vick blowing people off? I would have no idea about that. It’s possible that some wires got crossed and there was a miscommunication. When it happened with the Maxwell Club, the organization took all the blame for the mix up. Maybe that’s what happened here, maybe not.

At the end of the day, if Vick isn’t showing up for these functions, that will just hurt his credibility as someone that can be trusted to show up to these functions. It’s not criminal and it won’t get him in any trouble with the NFL or the Eagles, which is all I really care about.

However, I would suggest that maybe he gets some better logistics people around him (if indeed there was yet another mix up). The better he plays and the more he keeps his nose clean, the more of these events he’s going to be asked to attend.

Micah,
SInce there’s not much news to cover, why don’t you volunteer to be Mick VIck’s logisitics manager and coordiante his off the field evernts.. Sounds like RB Lesean McCoy could use the same.. I am telling you, these players, if they don’t keep there comittments to events and public engagements are going to find a lot of fans pretty pissed off at them and many fans are on edge anyways, with this current lockout situation. So players need to decide, either cancel your engagements well in advance or better yet, keep your committments and show up..
I am fine with players laying low with the current lockout, which is what I would do, but just have the courtesy to cancel in advance so people are aware and can plan accordingly..

It sounds to me the media wasn’t allowed inside the event which is why they are now saying he didn’t show up. The author of this article is attempt to make it appear Vick is not honoring his committments, if you are talking about him not appearing on the Oprah Show, he actually cancelled that engagement prior to the scheduled date for him appearing, (that is not considered a no show), maybe you are speaking of him not appearing on ESPN FirstTake, again wrong, he hadn’t been asked (again not considered a no show) I have always believe a “no show” is when a person just doesn’t show up, without cancelling in a timely manner. It appears to me that a lot of these journalist are spending a lot of time trying to make Vick look bad. People cancel appearances all the time, however the only person who is worthy of a news article is Michael Vick. Fact is from all that I have been reading he did attend the event along with his mother, maybe it would be a good idea if you did a little research of your own before writing an article that is based on someone else’s guesses or assumptions.

In addition your article contradicts itself, in one paragraph you say Vick was a “no show” in the very next paragraph you say Wavy reported Vick “indeed” was going to be there. Which is it, sounds to me “Wavy” couldn’t get access and don’t have a thing to report how the event went. Which by the way is good, its none of their business how thing went.

Is anyone surprised by any of this and is it news. Mike Vick, talented football player, not a guy you want in a foxhole with you

in the mist of a lockout , is he or any other players being told not to attend these functions? the above paragraph says he will not get in any trouble with the nfl or the eagles . right now as far as i am concerned there is no nfl. are any other players dealing with these issues,.

You all must have missed the story where it was reported that he told them that he was never attending the gala. He never accepted the invitation, he declined it. Seems to me that people are just trying to capitalize on the fact that he was reported to be a no shows on prior events and are just trying to bring him down or possibly gain something from using his name and just proclaiming him to be a no show.
