Birds Taking A Look At Talented Injury-Prone Tight End

Quiet as kept, the Eagles have only one tight end who is proven and his name is Brent Celek. If he were to go down they would be in some major trouble relying on Clay Harbor and Cornelius Ingram. That might ge the reason they’re taking a look at North Carolina tight end Zack Pianalto.

I can see what the Birds saw in Pianalto. He can run and he can catch but nobody knows whether he can stay healthy because his injury history is so long and varied. Adam Caplan of Foxsports.com says they’ve got a private workout scheduled for the young Tar Heel tight end.

He’s a walking and talking injury list. As I stated earlier, he can play and I think he’s got the ability to play in the NFL but it’s hard to imagine somebody taking a chance on him before the sixth or seventh rounds because of all of his injuries.

His size is decent at 6’3″ in height and 256 pounds weight-wise. I think the Birds were attracted by his ability to run and catch the football. Pianalto ran a 4.87 in the forty-yard dash at the Combine but I think he plays faster.

He jumped 32″ inches on the vertical jump. His broad jumped 9′ feet and lifted 225 pounds 22 times at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Pianalto was leading the North Carolina in receiving this past season before fracturing his fibula.

The year before he caught 33 passes, which is the school record for receptions by a tight end. He proved at UNC that he can get open and catch the football because he set a school career record for tight end receptions with 94.

I think he could be selected in the sixth or seventh round but if not, he will definitely be in somebody’s camp and he’s got a chance to make a team, if he can stay healthy.

naaaaaaaaaaaaaaw……this is a good sign.

We need someone to take Ingram’s roster spot to fill the injury prone tight end that’s coveted league wide. Yes….we’ve definately learned from the Ingram experiment and before it’s over folks ……one of these injury (cheap) picks are going to pay off. Damn……to hope is futile

I like TE Lee Smith from Marshall who at 6-6 265 lbs is almost line another OL.. He can block and has suprisingly good feet who can the ball.. He would be a great selection come 6th/7th Round and could be a real Red-Zone, Short-yardage-Redzone weapon// I know Coach AR likes the small, speedy TE’s but with HArbor already in that role and Celek blocking deficiencies, It would be nice to actually add a big TE who is physical..
Also TE Donald Lee was released by the Packers just before the lockdown went into effect and is a Free-Agent and would look good in Eagle green
