As we continue with the exit interviews for the 2010-2011 76ers, Today we’ll meet with Antonio Daniels, Tony Battie and Andres Nocioni.
(In the voice of Doug Collins)
Antonio, we brought you in late in the season when Lou Williams suffered a knee injury. With our team being relatively young we are going to go with a younger backup for Jrue Holiday. Thank you for your time here and good luck.
(As door closes, Collins whispers, “Hmph? And he had the nerve to wear Andrew Toney’s number”)
Tony, you provided us with much needed depth at the center position and a physical presence when called upon. There were times this season when it looked like you had found a youthful spring in your step.. You provided leadership and veteran advice to Spencer Hawes and Marresse Speights. You gave us additional minutes and fouls in the playoff series against the Heat, which were a major help despite the loss. We feel it is in our best interest to go with a younger reserve center, however if you decide not to continue your playing career, we would like to offer you a position on our coaching staff.
Andres, your first season in Philadelphia has been full of peaks and valleys. Things started off great, then you were injured. You returned and had some good games down the stretch and faded out again in the playoffs. Your versatility allows you to fit well in some of our schemes.
Your toughness has endeared you to the fans. When healthy, you have been a decent contributor as well as defender. While the team is still young we feel that you can be one of the pillars off the bench. Thanks for helping us have a great season and we’ll see you at camp.
(As door closes, Doug Collins whispers to himself, ” I’ve got to move this guy as part of some deal, He (Ed Stefanski) took a player with two-years left in that Dalembert deal. Thank God Rod Thorn is handling things from that aspect now.”)
I heard thru a friend of Coach Collins , the conversattion/exit interview went a little like this,
“Hey Frankie, ditch the gun, but grab the Canoli’s”
