Kevin Kolb Shows Up Ready To Play Football: “Man It’s Time”

Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb started out his day today with a good hour of weightlifting at the Powertrain gym in Cherry Hill with tight end Brent Celek and left guard Todd Herremans.

You can see that Kolb has been getting in some weightlifting during his workouts in Texas. He looked stronger and you can see that he has added a few pounds of muscle on his upper body. Kolb is putting on that muscle in his chest, back and in his arms to be able to take the pounding that every starting quarterback in the NFL has to deal with, regardless of where he plays.

That’s one of the aspects of the quarterback position that Michael Vick and Kolb learned from McNabb. The former Eagles quarterback did a great deal of upper body lifting during the season and off season, so he could take those shots in the back and knockout shots from NFL defensive ends and linebackers.

Kolb was pushing up some heavy dumbbells this morning, then he followed that up by making over a hundred throws in the afternoon. Doing that with ease tells me that he’s in good shape and was working hard in Texas.

In the interviews after the workout, Kolb tried to treat all of the talk of a prospective trade as no big deal, but there’s no way in the world that all of the talk doesn’t motivate him. When you consider all of the time which Kolb has had to sit and watch, he’s got to be biting at the bit to finally get the chance to go out and prove that he’s worth all of the talk.

Kolb threw the ball well during the workout and seemed to be getting a lot on the ball when he threw out routes and passes downfield. The ball was jumping out of his hands a bit, which is a good sign for Kolb who isn’t known for having the strongest arm in the league.

He didn’t say it but I think all of the talk and the fact that he hasn’t been able to get the chance to start working out with a team yet, is one of the reasons he came in town to workout with his Eagles teammates.

“I was workin’ out about a week and a half ago, and said, ‘Man, it’s time,’ ” Kolb said. “So I booked a flight and came on up.”

Doesn’t that statement tell you that’s he’s eager to play.

“‘It’s pretty tough, but y’all have known me for a long time, and the way that I handle things is that I kind of keep things out of my life. I don’t pay too much attention to it. It’s hard, when it has to do with my life, but I keep a positive attitude and keep moving forward, and whatever happens, I’ll be ready to roll,” Kolb said during a post workout interview.

Id still like to see some defensive players present. other teams around the league have that luxury we should do it too.

But as for kolb this was all for the media, i hope he does go to a favorable place where he can succeed and we can get good compensation.

hes had a fair shake here, he had his shot to start, did well. but Vick is a different animal, top 3 in the league talent. Im bias though.

All the guys look like theyve bulked up alot which is good to see, guys have been getting too many injuries in recent yrs, its apart of the game yes but the more muscle they put on the more durable they will be and able to endure the abuse they recieve all year long…

I heard V Abriami, O Gaither and Q Mickell wanted to work out and chances are that none of them are even on the Eagles for 2011..

I tell you what, call me crazy, but the way he made that open field tackle last year after throwing an INnerception, and now he’s bulking up and getting at goatee working, I would not be surprised to see him open up the Season at CB opposite A Samuel..

Where’d you hear that schiller? That really doesn’t matter anyway bc we can only trade with 1 team, we only need 1 n there gotta be team out there willing to trade for him let’s just hope its good compensation

I get annoyed with sal pal bc he talks too freakin much, ikno he gets paid to do it but shut up sometimes, like today he goes and tells that andy texted kolb and said after the lockout we ll take care of this situation, too much info sal too much… now watch the birds get fined or penalized by the league…

Schiller, again none of that matters they just need one team to trade with not ten and there is at least one gonna pull the trigger…

jon what are you talking about? I said something about defenses not practicing at team workouts with the offenses, you asked for sources and then I gave you some. Then you say those sources don’t matter because – then you talked about a Kolb trade…you got your topics straight buddy?

Schiller, i did get them mixed up. thought you were talking about the kolb deal. Yeah but whats the point of having guys on offense running routes yet not a defensive player present… i guess it can keep the connection there but they need defenders there to make it difficult for them… Deseans a no show… i wonder why… (contract)

Pman, that was hilarious. none of those guys probably wont be on the squad this year yet wanna show up for player organized workouts lol thats beyond funny lol

I am surprised and hurt that Schiller didn’t list Paulman as one his sources..

jon, it’s to work on timing. Remember back in Peyton Manning’s hay day (or at least when his team was better), they used to always praise how many times he would throw to his wideouts running routes before games? Over and over again (both the drills and the mention of it)? That wasn’t with defender’s either….

And Desean had already hired a trainer out west. I really don’t think it has anything to do with his contract (or lack of a new one). He know’s it’s impossible for him to have gotten a deal he’d be happy with at this point – the 30% rule and lockout….He’s always been a west coast guy anyway, not surprising or significant he’s not with them…
