In Defense Of LeBron James: “It’s The Media’s Fault”

Dawkplex wrote this article in reply to “LeBron James Was Wrong To Lash Out At Fans, He Should Apologize Immediately” – i disagree completly. LeBron James was asked the question and he answered truthfully. I don’t feel it was a lash out at all. Everyone hated him for leaving a city in which he had been in for seven years and never won a championship.

Most people don’t even have their current jobs for more than seven years. I had a patient sit in front of me today telling me she was happy they lost because they acted like they were gods and they were gonna be unbeatable. I said to her and I quote ” that’s not true because when they signed together, they clearly stated that the Lakers were the current champions”.

The media hammered them for that. If they would have said were gonna beat everyone the media would have hammered them for that. My conclusion is that the media is to blame for all this garbage. They have turned all sports including football into soap operas!!!

They have painted this picture to all the people that don’t really know sports and don’t really know that these guys have been wanting to play together for a long time and that they are all friends. What’s so horrible about that?

You never worked with a friend or wanted to play with a certain guy? Lebron is not Jordan nor Kobe so I’m dead tired of hearing the conparisions, but the media keeps bringing it up!!! They are destroying sports and I feel that this wouldn’t even be a big deal if it wasn’t for them.

INFACT, the so called “LeBron Decision Show” was a media person’s idea. He brought the idea to Lebron’s agent. Everyone hates him for it but it wasn’t even his idea and he donated all the money to the Boys and Girls Club, which according to them helped them tremendously.

I’m tired of hearing about LeBron and it’s the damn media which loves to stir this stuff up. Its what they live for. LeBron’s comments are in response to media questions. I have no problem with him speaking the truth and saying how he feels. Everyone is so worried about offending someone.

It’s the softening of America. Who gives a crap!!! I would rather have 100 players that spoke their mind and the truth than being politically correct all the time. That’s one thing I’ve always hated about Andy Reid! I wish at times he would get on that podium with some damn fire and hammer some fans and media.

I 100% agree with this article. As somebody who has never set foot in the USA but follows the NFL and NBA religiously, I constantly find your sports media beating up on your players. In my country we watch for the ATHLETICSM and big plays and cheering for your team over the other. I couldnt care less about the personality of the players. If the player does have character concerns then hey thats for his team to handle, but personally that just adds to the excitement of his interviews. Everybody loves drama and a bad guy and thats exactly what the US media delivers to you guys because it sells and you eat it up.

So in follow up to the previous post.. do I like LBJ? Hell yeah hes a beast to watch on the court. And thats all he is to me, something with excellent basketball skills who can entertain me, not the second coming who should be preaching positive things

I honestly believe if Lebron would have been humbled, he would have been the most famous basketball player to ever step foot on the hardwood. Now, he’s going to be the most “hated” player to ever step foot on the hardwood. Sad, but true.

Mimitaro — the media doesn’t need to sell me anything. I have had a strong disliking for Lebron even when the media was trying to praise him (which they have done since before he came into the league.)

Over the last 9 years, Lebron has continously done things to MAKE me dislike him. I didn’t just wake up one day and say “Hey there’s Lebron, I don’t like that guy” — no, there’s a laundry list of things that he has done/said that have created this animosity.

The Sense of Entitlement only gets worse with a person like LeBron…
He will end up dragging D-Wad/Bosh down with him…
It’s a shame, but he has brought most of this hate, arrogance and ill-will feeling towards him on his own..He had a chance to be humble and respecful last evening and to get some of that monkey off his back, but he blew it…

Just off the top of my head…..when he walked off on Tim Duncan in the Finals after the Spurs swept them..DUNCAN had to go to HIM to shake his hand in the locker room!

The kid in Chicago waiting for Lebron’s warmups RIGHT in FRONT of him and Lebron throws it on the ground like the bish that he is .

Not respecting his “friend” Dwight enough to congratulate him on his trip to the Finals after the Magic eliminated the Cavs a few years back.

Using the Boys and Girls club to hide the fact that his ego was so big he had to have an ESPN special to announce his “decision”…..and then acting like he woke up that morning without really knowing where he was going to go. SMH.

This is just stuff I’m remembering off the TOP of my head, if I sat down and really thought about it, I would have a laundry list of things for ya. Don’t forget getting “Chosen 1” tatted on his back, coming in with Michaels # as well.

I mean, I would think it was just this site if I thought he was just a LeBron fan, but you can tell that isn’t the case…… He is fanatical. I am surprised he has time to post considering that he probably stalks LeBrons life (twitter, facebook, etc.). Hart wants baby bron bron’s c0ck in his mouth so bad. There is no doubt the guy is on at least a bunch of other sites defending and trying to talk up LeBron.

Hey guest contributer, JH, GFYS!!!! For you or anyone else to blame someone, but yourself, for the decisions that YOU make, or the things that you say is utterly stupid, ridiculous, asinine & a slap in the face to anyone with a brain molecule. Why not say I killed somone, oh he told me to do it. Or oh my friend robbed the bank, so I did too. IF YOUR A GROWN ASS MAN, GROW A BEANBAG, MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS. Be humble, & be thankful that your one of a very few in this world, that are blessed, & don’t talk down to people. You could be unemployed, homeless, sick with an illness, or dying overseas for your country, so you can have the life your living, that IMO, YOU LEFRAUD, do not deserve. Their is no justification for anything he says or does anymore. Nothing was taken out of context, & he does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. Is this article for real? Honestly, there is a reason these were record setting finals in terms of viewers. It is not because the Mavs are so loved….the overwhelming majority of people DESPISE Princess James. The screwed up part is that these same “haters” liked him when he was in Cleveland before he showed his ars to the world. The guy can’t get enough of the media and camera and we are supposed to blame the media? Huh? He is a victim? WTF.?!?! The guy loves himself more than winning and loves to be on TV and the media is to blame. Absolute bunk and I can’t stand to read Jon Hart anymore. The guy is delusional and obviously knows his basketball from reading SLAM magazine and playing video games where Lebron actually shows up.

Priceless and you dudes are friggin creative with your points.

Good article DPLex….its the media and him blowing himself up in a way. Bottomline is he has flaws in his game that arent allowing him too succeed in the clutch…i.e. no post game(your huge),crab dribbles(come on bro, bend your waste and explode past people),and his 20footer is questionable through too many stretchs. He is top 3 assist guys in NBA for a point in my opinion so i think he gets bogged down on tryna do too much liek some great assist/scorers do.

Question…WTF happend to that guy who killed it against a great Detroit team that year? He closed a few of those games and they were big moments?

SPORTS IS A SOAP OPERA ANYMORE WITH ALL THIS CRAP!! I dont remember coming up in the 80’s 90’s and hearing any of these athletes “SMELLING THEMSELVES” SO MUCH.Its like the vets in he locker room have no weight.Cant tell these young guys nothing . And they think there f’n Jay-zee in the pressys wit there glasses on and talk non-stop when they should just keep it real in a sense. And what are you getting upset at what this dude says? hes no diff too me then some d-bag on 95 who screams at you on the exit ramp. Lebron James is grown man, who now has to deal with the consequences of his decision he made last summer. Was it the right move for Lebron to make to win a championship, Yes it was. Of course the odds to win a chip were in his favor teaming up with Wade…However, that doesn’t discard the fact of how he went about it. The “Decision” was the biggest media hype, and it was by who, Lebron James…Lebron James involved the media from day one! Lebron is very athletic, very gifted on the basketball court, but he doesn’t possess the characteristics that the true great players have, which is humility. He should take some notes from Derek Rose, who is one of the most humble players in the league. The comment he made, saying people will go back to their regular lives was him speaking the truth, but it was far from it. I’ve been living my regular life every day and I never woke up with Lebron on my mind. Lebron James brought this all upon hisself. Lebron came in the league wearing the number 23…Then all of a sudden he decides to change it saying he is honoring Jordan…Why not honor Jordan his rookie season or sooner? Did he not think the same of Jordan his rookie season? or was it something deeper? did he want the comparisons to begin, by changing the number? who knows, Lebron is a “diva” starving for attention…A great athlete but he has some personal growth development to experience

back in jordans day the media wasnt like this. There was no skip baylass analyzing your every move and commenting on it. i mean lets look at the stats. God love stats!!! chicago series James 129 points, 7 offensive rebounds, 32 defensive rebounds and 33 assists. Wade stats 94 points 5 offensive rebounds 27 defensive rebounds and 11 assists. Looks like james killed that now lets move to the… finals……………. Wade 159 points 15 offensive rebounds 27 defensive rebounds and 31 assists, King james 107 points, 37 offensive rebounds, 37 defensive rebounds and 41 assists. King james dominated wade in 3 out of the 4 major catagories in the finals, and points is based on matchups you know that as well as i do. Some of the other simpletons may not but we do. James didnt let anyone down. Dallas was simply better period! The big german destoyed all. Did he look a little rattled at times, of course. Again they were not expected to win it all last year! Infact jalen rose sat there and said and i quote ” if they would have won the championship this year they would be one year ahead of the curve”

BirdoBeamen , everyone keeps giving me this humbled thing, was the guy not humble for 7 years and cleveland and saying the right things? Yes and look where it got him. No where. This one year with a team that is not even assemlbled properly with a bunch of scrubs they were 2 games away from winning a championship. Thats the closest he has been since his second year in the league at the age of 19. I believe that when they truly assemble this thing next year the team will be much better.

What lebron meant by his comment was that everyone on here and the media who continually bashes a guy who has not violated the law in anyway, only made a few poor image conscious choices, will still have to wake up to the same life they had before the season started. This means that everyone who made it their mission to bring him down won’t be able to avoid there own real life problems and focus there attention on destroying lebrons reputation for a couple months. Im not a huge lebron supporter but the media has ripped him for such stupid things only to boost ratings and get the average fan to hate a man for no reason. And to everyone who says he is a poor sport and didnt shake hands after the finals, these guys jobs are to compete and losing isnt suposed to make them happy go lucky. Do you want the guy to stand out there and celebrate with the people who just deprived him of what he wants so badly? It makes no sense. Lebron is never going to win with the media regardless. They are always going to find something so minut and blow it up just to have something to write about. Most of these media guys just run these pointless stories for hits and not to actually you know report the news.

you can’t compare stats of teammates…Pippen averaged more assists and rebounds than Jordan, but did that mean he was a better player? in fact the Heat lost games because they had James dominating the ball late in games…Which means Wade didn’t get a touch at times. If a guy is dominating the ball and is actually your point forward, he should have more assists than the guy playing of the ball. If your guy can play a PF, SF position, of course he should have more rebounds than a guard…The stats you gave are deceiving, I seen Wade playing with fire and passion in the finals, more so than Lebron. We’ve seen Wade single handedly carry his team to a championship. Roster make up of Shaq, Gary Payton (aged), Zo, Shandon Anderson, J Williams, A Walker (believe he was on this time) fact of the matter, is James had help! Now its not fair to only blame James..coaches, Front office management, are all at fault and the players as a whole…

i agree real talk with some of you conclusions. It is not only fair to blame him! This is what people forget and this is the point im trying to make. Goes back to football and what we say every year. Its a team damn sport. Truthfully in game 6 chalmers was horrid. He made multiple mistakes including missing dwayne wade sitting at the 3 point line all by himself!! He had turnovers late in the game as did wade and lebron. The point of the stats is not to say one is better then the other but to show lebron by no means choked or couldnt be found in the playoffs. I said it before and ill say it again. “man i love being a turtle….jk”….no but for real Its not all on james as the MEDIA makes it out to be. Other guys played bad. And truth be told dirk was just to much for everyone!

Dont know why “The Decision” made such an impact on so many lives, but the people who talk about how overrated he is dont watch him play because he is an AMAZING basketball player, who happened to come up short this year. All of you Lebron apologist should be ashamed of yourselves. This is insane..Was it the media that quit on his team during the last finals run? Was it the media that quit in the 4th qtr of the last 4 games? Or how about with 18seconds left in the final game checking out some chick walking in front of you? Did the media do that? Get out here with all that noise! Lebron is talent, anyone that says otherwise is stupid. BUT he’s not a winner. maybe one day he’ll mature into one. But we’re talking about today, right now. Look no further than Donovan McNabb,5 was talented no question. He just came up small a lot. Sometimes that happens.
As for my right to hate on him, well just like any other American. Its my right to feel how I want to feel about anyone. Everyone keeps saying its only basketball, well thats ok. We need a bad guy or two in sports. It’s why we praise the teams or athletes that we love. We see them as the good guys. Is anyone going to tell me I shouldn’t hate the Cowboys? Its only football…We get out of my face. I’m not saying I want them dead. I just view them as the bad guys. If the Eagles made a trade for Jason Witten, I’d view him as a good guy now(reformed and repented for his sins – lol) – So back off of the people view Lebron as the bad guy. It’s their right just like its your right to be sheep and believe this guy is the best in the game right now.
