New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith may have played the “Trump Card” and ended the verbal battle between his teammate Osi Umenyiora and Eagles running back LeSean McCoy.
Since about Wednesday of last week, McCoy and Giants Pro Bowl defensive end Umenyiora had been verbally challenging each other. The Giants defender had filed a lawsuit against the Giants front office, claiming New York GM had promised to reneged on a promise to redo his contract.
McCoy called Osi overrated and soft on Twitter, then Umenyiora attacked the Eagles running back for being a “Twitter Gangster”.
Now Smith has gone for the jugular by pointing out the fact that the Eagles have never won a Super Bowl title.
“Eagles have a great team as do we. They’ve had our number lately but until you win something major I don’t wanna hear it. #endthelockout”
There’s no way McCoy can counter that so he should have nothing else to say.
So wait – Steve Smith played in 5 games all of 2007 – when the Giants last won a Super Bowl – he is now without contract –
The Egales have beaten the Giants the last 6 times they have played – you have to go back to Nov of 2008 –
McCoy wasn’t even in the NFL in 2007 –
In reality McCoy has a lot to say – hey old man – since I got here – you Giants ain’t done s*** – you really want to go back to 2007 to make some lame argument? In the 4 games I have played against Osi – we kicked your a****** in all four – in 2009 we scored 40 and 45 points, in 2010 we scored 27 and 38 – again – soft…….
Exactly. This is why I don’t like our guys talking trash in the offseason. It’s fine with week during the season and when playing each other. But in the offseason it’s useless ESPECIALLY when we have no jewelry. No matter how bad the cowboys, redskins and giants are they will still look at our team and the fans as a bunch of clowns that do nothing but talk and still haven’t won anything. And what made this situation even dumb is you have younger player going after a veteran player. Just stop it and prove something. McCoy should know that RBs don’t have a long career in the NFL so he needs to prove a lot more, the eagles need to prove a lot more before mouthing off.
