Donovan McNabb Works Out With His Former Eagles Teammates

Eagles former quarterback Donovan McNabb worked out yesterday with a group of Eagles players. He went through the weightlifting part of the workout at the PowerTrain facility in Cherry Hill, then went over to the Memorial Sports Complex in Evesham Township and got in some endurance and agility work.

There’s nothing sinister about the former Pro Bowl quarterback working out with his former Eagles teammates. I know McNabb can’t do anything in the Philadelphia area without it being made into a controversy, but really this in no big deal. There are players all over the league working out with their former teammates.

McNabb is staying in shape and preparing for what should be a very interesting season for him. In all likelihood, he won’t be back with the Redskins, but nobody knows where he will play this season.

Everyone agrees that Minnesota would probably be the best landing spot for him. Unfortunately for McNabb, the Redskins will be calling the shots because he signed an extension with them during the season a year ago. If the Skins decide to place some high demands in trade talks with any team interested in the signal caller, it could leave him out in the cold, when they release him before having to give him a $10 million dollar bonus.

McNabb lives in Arizona during the off season and he’s in town for something that has nothing to do with more football.

McNabb and his family have had a long relationship with Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, N.J. Later today, McNabb will dedicate the McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. He and his wife, Raquel have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the hospital, and helped raise $2.5 million dollars for the hospital where all of their four children were born.

His wife is a registered nurse, so the relationship they have with the hospital is a serious one. She obviously knows the advances which have been made in the neonatal area, which allows

That would be awesome in a few years if he decides not too be a starter. Something tells me Don will retire the starter somewhere.Dude still has it,just needs to not get blasted by angry defenders every other play. I’ve never seen him take that many shots as last year. And he hangs tough.Always loved that.

Now we have FLASHQB 7!!!

DMac has always been a good guy. He comes from a good family and he’s never been a punk. Just like Vick WAS a punk who grew up. And he needs to get out of the WCO. Arizona might be a good fit for him. He needs a down field attack. Dink and dunk is not his game. And he needs run support. Brady and Manning can let the defenders in the huddle and still kill them. Donovan never had those skills. If the D knows he’s going to pass, pass and pass some more then he tends to struggle unless that D just sucks. AR never did him any favors. We should have moved on a long time ago. Not because DMac sucks or anything. He was just never right for our system. Thye should have let him go or changed the system but AR is stubborn and set in his ways. DMac is still an egomaniac and lacks the leadership ability and thick skin it takes to be a great QB.

And the idea of him coming back here to be a back up is absurd. His pride would find that a devastating blow to his ego. And why have a back up that didn’t fit here as a starter? If Vick got hurt, we still wouldn’t go anywhere. Just like old times. Might as well be Kafka. And what about the Favre rumor Anthony was trying to get fired up on WIP yesterday? Favre is done. He has finally had enough. And he is another egomaniac that would not ever want to be a back up. What would be the point in that for him? Then it wouldn’t be all about him all the time. And if he did come here, he wouldn’t be able to win any home games because he always sucked in Philly and has yet to ever win here. LOL!

Here’s an idea. Maybe we should have traded DMac after ’06 and let Garcia mentor Kolb since he still had some gas left at that time and was a better WCO QB. Kolb would be the established starter by now and a pretty good one I think. I’m still not sold Vick is the answer. So I wouldn’t trade Kolb and give him a long term deal. Pay the $18 M for this year. If he gets hurt or doesn’t improve, let him walk next year and put Kolb back in there. I’m certainly not trading Kolb for anything that does not provide immediate impact this year. Arizona can shove their two second rounders. Thats not helping us right now. And this team needs to be about right now. If they want to talk DRC we can talk. Otherwise keep Kolb as insurance.

And if the Eagles want to bank on Vick and throw caution to the wind then they need to realize if ti doesn’t work out, they are out of it for a SB shot for at least the next five years. And if they do want to make that gamble, then they need to spend some money on this D immediately and really go for it and not take half measures.

Jbrid, you sound dumb. I see you’re still on the Kevin Kolb train. Fortunately, you don’t have to be sold on Mike Vick. Obviously, Andy is because he’s the one who benched Kolb. I”m sure you were happy when he decided that McNabb was gone and Kolb was the QB of the team so why not trust him that he made the best decision for the team in giving the job to Vick? And he didn’t give the job to Vick like he did Kolb. Vick actually won the job. Kolb is gone. Get over it.

Eagles need to take what they can get for Kolb now…His stock has dropped since the beginning of the 2010 season…if you dont believe Vick is the answer why they hell would you think Kolb is a backup that can get it done…If Vick is not the answer, I can tell you this Kolb definitely is not the answer even as a backup…The Eagles did a pretty solid job with this years draft, sign a few free agents and they dont need an immediate impact for Kolb…its not like Kolb will provide an immediate impact holding the clipboard on the sidelines…there are plenty of free agent veteran QB’s that the Eagles can sign as a backup…

For those who would like to put Mcnabb and Kolb in the same conversation….Kolb will never be a top 3 Quarterback in his life. Mcnabb for over 5 years was in the top 3-5 quarterbacks in the league. The reality here is if Kolb was black he would be a null point in conversation. He have no credentials whatsoever and was a waste of a pick when the team actually needed help to push the eagles over the top. Kolb is what we all thought he would be when the Eagles drafted him…We all asked….”Kolb who?”..Who the hell is he. Kolb is garbage and the sooner he’s outta here the better…..Let’s sign Mcnabb which would be a better back up option. For those who think otherwise ask and I’ll send you the stream for opening day against Green Bay last season..Keep in mind …Green Bay is the team we must overcome if we want to hoist the Lombardi.

JBIRD, you wrote a thesis & I still don’t know what the hell your talking about. Do like DMac or not? Do you love Kolb or not? Do you hate Vick or not? Do you like the Birds or not? For the love of GOD! don’t be so long winded, & make a friggin point! SONGS, who gives a s#!t if a QB is Black or White, if he can win you games. Who are you Rush Limbaugh? Kolb wasn’t given a chance, because that offensive line would have gotten him killed last year. Remember the O-lines DMac had, put Kolb on those teams & he might have did just as good, who knows.

DDCAR?

Vick was MVP runner up playing behind the same offensive line as Kolb.

why do we make excuses for Kolb but bash Mcnabb when he played behind an atrocius offensive line before he was traded?

Kolb had many chances…He choked when he was given the stage more than once.

And it will surprise no one if he fails miserably when given another chance somewhere else.

Kolb is a very good qb if he has time to throw. His short to intermediate throws are very precise; he is not the athlete Vick is, he can’t carry the team on his back like Vick did against the giants, but if that’s what you ask your qb to do you are not a sb team

Songs, you are a flat out idiot, Kolb has what seven starts, and in two of them NFC offensive player of the week, we will not able to accurately gauge his ceiling until he plays a full season, but there is a lot of upside seen by most objective, knowledgeable people, most who post here excluded, blinded by agenda

in philly its always about the qb.

I dont know why we get on this subject all the time but…. Kolb as a starter would have made sence…. give him time to grow and bla bla bla. But we dont need that now. Its vicks show.

Kolb as a backup NEVER made sence. If vick goes down… we need a proven vet. Someone who can step in. Not someone to learn.

Here’s the hypocrisy of Philly sports news….Before last season they were writing how Kolb would be more accurate and run the offense more efficient than Mcnabb and that we would finally see the West Coast offense the way it was meant to be played…”Young Guns” and all the hype.

Once Preseason began and Kolb started it was clear the offense digressed and he really looked like he didn’t belong…Therefore we started hearing the new spin…..

Kolb needs time…….We are in a rebuilding stage and we can wait a few seasons until Kolb learns how to be that starter we said he was before the season.

Then the media started blaming the offensive line for Kolb’s shortcomings.

But, when Vick became the starter everything changed.

The articles changed to the Eagles having no excuses.

The news was not going to give Vick’s Eagles the same latitude as Kolb’s Eagles.

Our press and fans was willing to concede losing seasons and mediocre play just to have Kolb as the quarterback.

Let’s sacrifice all the other players in their prime while we get one player ready to be a starter.

Why do you all think the media changed immediately in their perspective with just one roster move change?

The Eagles are 2-3 Studs Defensive players away from a legitimate SUper Bowl run.. Does anyone really think the Defense and comprised with it’s current Roster will put any fear or stop the Top Offenses of the NFC let alone the AFC. The Eagles have 1 real Playmaker in A Samuel and that’s about it..They need help at DE/OLB/CB and Safety to take it to the next level.. Who leads the Eagles Offense when Vick gets hurt and misses a couple of games which is a very strong likliehood with all the hits that he will take..
