Michael Vick On Verge Of Signing Another Endorsement Deal

It was a few days after the Monday night game against the Washington Redskins when I learned that Michael Jordan had placed a direct call to Michael Vick and talked to him about joining his Jordan Air line. I knew then that it was just a matter of time before Vick regained his status as a big endorser of products and companies.

That time is just about here now.

The NFL may still be in a lockout, but that doesn’t mean Vick can’t find a way to make some money. NFL.com reports that Vick is on the verge of signing a three-year, $1.55 million dollar endorsement deal with MusclePharm, a Denver-based nutritional supplement company.

Vick will be adding MusclePharm to Nike on his list of endorsement companies as he continues to rehabilitate his name and image after spending a couple of years in prison for operating a dogfighting operation.

“We don’t have any problem considering him at all,” a MusclePharm official said. “And for us to consider him, we’re confident that he has rehabilitated himself.”

Agreed P-domis.He has really impressed as he should have done. We need him too hoist the Lombardi and start the movie project.

I really think he’s gonna be on the MVP watch again this year.
Maclin and him were jelling.
He’s learned how to get the ball to D-snacks deep..has the touch.
Celek was not Celek last year..used for blocking and played through some naggin injuries…i think he has a nice season and is pushed by Harbor.
Shady is a threat for 70 balls and over a g rushing.
Upgraded his human wall.
And what if they sign Plax?

This was in the Daily News two days ago, and it is no more interesting now. So what who signs him to endorse anything? Get on the field and play well, everything else is wasted space to anybody other than his family members.

Anderson, I agree. What is interesting is Pedigree, I AMS, Kibbles & Bits & Petco are next to offer him endorsements. Sorry I had too. These companies are hypocritical, jacka$$e$. They wait for him to play like superstar again, & then jump back on the bandwagon. Nike for example. They couldn’t jump fast enough to drop him. Stick to your guns. Just because he is putting on this giant facade for everyone, doesn’t change the fact that he is a murderer of life & just because he did time, doesn’t change what a man has in his heart. He’s being a good boy, because he has to be a good boy, because he lost over a $100M, & needs to get his next big contract. Plain & simple. I’m not a righteous, Pita picketing, Bible beater, but what he did is sickening, & unforgivable. I can guarantee, once he gets another new contract, the real Vick will emerge again.

I can only judge by what I have seen. He seems to be doing what most reasonable people demand of him to make amends, I do not know what is in his heart, not my place to guess. But I still don’t care how much he makes or does not make, I just want him to play well while he wears my city’s uniform. My only real thoughts on player compensation is that I like when guys are playing to score a big paycheck, I think they try harder before they get a payday. Professional athletes are like women, you have to keep them from getting too comfortable. Let them have everything they want, and you will have a fat, dumb and happy player (or wife) in no time flat. Gotta keep them hungry.

you’re entitled to your opinion…but lets be real, all of us have to abide by rules, regulations and laws in our every day life. Some of us were taught the right way from day one…Some were not!!…Currently Vick is doing what any grown man should be doing…can’t fault him for that…I understand most of you cats on here are totally righteous, and your shit has never stunk a day in your life, I get it…you were raised the proper way, didn’t grow up around crime
had your father or a strong role model…People change, he did bad things, now he’s doing more good than bad. Your guarantee, to me is a wish for the man to fail..

DD – I think you’re confused – corporations don’t make business decisions based off of ethics. Vick’s endorsement deals weren’t dropped when he got caught/went to jail etc… because the companies had ethical problems with his behavior. They dropped him because it was bad business (bottom line, $$$) to be associated with him at the time. They’ve now calculated that it’s good business to be associated with Michael Vick – TODAY.

That’s all that matters – good $ move or bad $ move. “Sticking to your guns” is not relevant here – it’s not about guns, it’s about $.

Speaking of hypocrites it was funny how PETA went away after the Eagles cut them a check after signing Vick. What happened to them sticking to their guns. What happened to the boycotts and protests that PETA was going to do nationwide. They’re the biggest sellouts in my opinon. Regarding Vick, why can’t it be possible for someone to change, the man missed seeing his daughter born and probably seen some stuff alot of guys on here wouldn’t be able to stomach on top of losing millions, what man in his right mind wouldn’t want to straighten up and fly right. It’s not about “being a good boy” to the NFL or these sponsors because when it’s all over he has kids and a soon to be wife and a higher authority to answer to. I hope and pray he’s gotten that message.

Exactly Schiller, it is and in the recent past has always been about $, and if Vick didn’t have the unique combination of incredible talent AND marketability, he never would have been given a second chance with the NFL

DD,

Sticking to your guns and making millions of $$ are 2 TOTALLY different topics. That signing had nothing to do with ehics, just the almighty $$.

You guys are right, money talks & bull$#!t walks. Real I am far from righteous, or perfect. I made my share of mistakes. But I am sick & tired of people making excuses for the way people act because of the way they were raised. BOO HOO! Give me a break. Wrong is wrong right is right. Plain & simple. How can you excuse a NFL football player worth $100M+ at the time, funding & participating in the killing of dogs. I was raised in a broken home, with mixed roots, struggling to have food on the table. So I know what it’s like. I’m sick of excuse makers, because of upbringing. It’s a bull$#!t excuse.

DD, I am not looking for a fight, but right and wrong are actually pretty ambiguous notions. The simplest analogy is stealing to feed your starving children. Right outcome, reached by the wrong path, most of the time. There are exceptions and variations to almost everything, Vick was wrong, in this set of circumstances, as judged by the US Federal court system. To the public, he was judged as wrong by many individuals, viewed as having done nothing out of the ordinary by a different segment of the population. He paid a price, now seems out to make amends. Is he honestly different? Beats me, I don’t know the man. As in many parts of life, time will tell. Some cry hypocrisy, but that is relative as well. Maybe PETA got enough cash out of the deal that they can fund up other initiatives that furthers their agenda, so staying on the Vick-flogging isn’t in the organization’s best interest. Chasing him around may cost blood and treasure that is better expended elsewhere. The bottom line, which I stated before, is that I’d like him to be the best Eagle possible. Whatever else he does is on him, good or bad. Just play football well, I do not need him as a role model, I already have mine.

Anderson, I agree with you, but this is the problem with society today. Everyone wants to always make excuses for everything instead of taking responsibility for their actions. Just because someone has a f^@ked up life, does not give them the right to do evil. I’m tired of hearing people make excuses for drug dealers & criminals excuse their behavior because they claim their are no jobs, life ain’t fair, blah blah blah. I’m no bible beater, but come on, stealing to feed your children. There are no exceptions or excuses, to give him a pass for what he did. I agree he went to jail & did his time, but no one with an evil heart that he has, does not change, just mask it better.

DD, you’re talking like an Old Head, and I mean that without insult. But be honest, nobody in the course of history took their hits if they could get out of them. Its not a new phenomenon, I think we just hear about it more due to the advances in media technology. Whether or not M Vick can have a paradigm shift in his life is an unknown. You can’t prove a unknown, only gather evidence as it appears at any given time. I agree with you, there are no good reasons for going around acting uncivilized, but many people will take the easiest path available. Good thing we have plenty of prisons, folks are beating down the doors to get in, and that is a sad fact.
