Maclin: “A lot of times people talk, they’re either insecure or scared”

I told you about Eagles wide receiver Steve Smith and how he went out of his way in trying to avoid giving the Giants any bulletin board material prior to their game on Sunday.

Another Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin didn’t take that the same route when he was made aware of the comments made by Giants safety Antrel Rolle. “I don’t want any excuses when we go down there and put it to ‘em”, the New York safety said.

Maclin started out slow and it seemed he was going to take the same humble approach, then he started blasting the trash-talking Giants.

“It’s a new season, it’s a new year. We understand that we have to go out there and play the game,” said Maclin. He couldn’t let his opportunity to say the way he really felt , “on the other hand, they have no business talking, because they haven’t done anything the last six times.”

He’s just talking,” Maclin said going further. “A lot of times people talk, they’re either insecure or scared, so you guys choose … he’s talking so it says something.”

I agree with him whole heartedly but this will wind up on a Giants bulletin board. If anybody is going to do some talking going into this game it should be the team that has won the last six battles between these two teams rather than the team that has lost those games.

Maclin had an amazing 13 catch day against Atlanta for 171 yards. If he can put up those numbers again, I’m sure it will help to shut the Giants up.

Go for a run or something Jon.Blow off some steam. Your telling a guy who played well against this team twice last year to stop talking. He’s stating the obvious brosiff. Your either scared or insecure.

Rolle is a punk and i hope Maclin gets the chance to expose him and the rest of there sh!tty secondary.

WTF does him coming back from an illness have to do with telling the truth? And did you not watch him have a ballgame gaisnt the Falcs. He dropped the ez one…but come on dude.

Some of you guys run your mouth about these players like there your little brothers and they need a talking too. How many downs of pro football have you played?OK then.

There’s been too much of this business this year. Several Eagles have dropped bulleting board or engeged in boorish “look at me” material this season….

Jeremy “they’re scared” Maclin today.

Desean “Primetime is my thing!”(2 catches) gets up and points every time he makes a first down… or how about “It’s going to be a big win for us.” prior to the Atl game…NICE!

Mike “No D can stop me” Vick pointing at scoreboard when heading off field in Atl. Classy. Bumping ref out of way to do the whole “brushing off my chest ’cause I’m so great” when he threw the TD to Desean vs Stl…keep those cameras on me!! Every interview when he says “I” 50x.

Vince “Dream team” Young….which I’m sure will now be chanted at every opposing stadium for the rest of the season.

What exactly have the Birds done to be sooo cocky and full of themselves? I want them to be confident, don’t get me wrong, but I am not a fan of this chest punching me me me business.

its called trash talking..thats what football is vinnie. i love this teams young cocky swagger. 15 years from now when most of them are gone were gonna look back and miss this team more than any other roster we ever put together. and btw doesnt our city thrive on this type of attitude?

Trash talking is for the field.

“Young cocky swagger.” There’s a difference between being confident and being a grade school punk. Confident players let their play do the talking. Punks brag before the game but then often have a difficult time when the chips are down….and the football gods don’t reward this kind of attitude. Just ask Moss, or Owens….and punk seems to be creeping onto this team.

Some of you thrive on attitude like this I suppose. Myself…I prefer watching a team go out and win, and in post game interviews praise their teammates and how difficult their opponent was. Desean, Vick….and now unfortunately Maclin, (who I thought was above this kind of playground braggadacio), are too often dropping these ridiculous statements, that can do noting but rally the opposing team. Play the game.

As for “most beloved” team…..You obviously never watched the D from the late 80s early 90s.
