LeSean McCoy Tries To Diffuse Twitter Battle With Giants

The Twitter war between the Giants and McCoy began when the running back responded to news that New York defensive end Osi Umenyiora wanted a new contract, by tweeting that the Pro Bowl pass rusher was soft, overrated and the third best defensive end on the Giants.

Umenyiora didn’t appreciate the comments, so he and his Giants teammates tweeted back that McCoy needs to keep his mouth shut and they referred to him Lady Gaga or the ChiHuaHua.

The Lady Gaga charge was a way of calling him soft like a woman and the Chihuahua title was to suggest that he’s got more mouth than bite.

McCoy talked about the comments that New York players had made and he couldn’t help but laugh about it yesterday.

“I don’t feel like I play like Lady Gaga,” McCoy said in front of his locker. “I actually have some pretty good stats. I don’t know where Lady Gaga came from.

McCoy had no answer for why they would call him a Chihuahua.

“I don’t know. Maybe I’m attractive like a Chihuahua. I don’t know.”

Current Eagles wide receiver Steve Smith was part of the Twitter battle with McCoy, but both players say they worked things out when Smith came here during training camp.

McCoy was trying to diffuse the comments he had made earlier about Umenyiora. The truth of the matter is that the Eagles run at Umenyiora. He’s a pass rusher and a pass rusher alone. He doesn’t play the run and doesn’t like to play the run.

McCoy wouldn’t respond when I asked him whether the Eagles run at Umenyiora than they do at Justin Tuck. He smiled and said nothing. I think McCoy meant what he tweeted about Umenyiora because he is soft against the run. You could make an argument right now that Jason Pierre-Paul and Tuck are better defensive ends than he is.

Still It will all amount to nothing when game time gets here. Each player and each team will be focused on trying to find a way to win. Nobody will have time for the nonsense.
