McCoy Carries The Eagles Offense With Big Day Against The Giants

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy had a magical day yesterday without breaking off any really long runs. With the Eagles offensive line not having good day McCoy was able to find a way to gain yardage despite there being unblocked defenders in the backfield.

The magic man was grabbing five or six yards on the ground consistently. There was no consistency to the passing game, plus Michael Vick was coming off of a concussion, so Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg put the ball on the ground.

Making tacklers miss was the story of the former Pitt Panther’s game. The backs lateral speed and agility shredded New York’s defense for some substantial gains play after play. McCoy highlighted an Eagles’ failed trip inside Giant’s territory, when he was hit by Kenny Phillips, a blitzing safety, behind the line and stumbled forward to fight for a gain of nine yards.

Perry Fewell and the G-Men’s defense had Philadelphia’s plays diagnosed, but they had one problem, McCoy. The Giant’s heavy-blitzing defense was unable to wrap Shady up in the backfield and they paid for it. McCoy seemed to be playing on a dry field but the Giants defense seemed to playing on a wet one. He had great footing but they couldn’t stay on their feet and keep their balance. Changing direction is definitely one of McCoy’s gifts.

The story with McCoy is that when push comes to shove, Shady can find hole or a way to create a hole on his own. He may not have the brute strength to run over tacklers or the pure straight-line speed to out run tacklers, but he may be the best back at changing direction this side of Barry Sanders.

His vision is incredible. McCoy sees cutback lanes that nobody else sees. The Eagles halfback can cutback on dime even though it looks like he’s committed to running the ball to the front side of the play. He will take the play up to the line and then cutback from an angle that looks impossible.

McCoy was held to one reception for eight yards and one rush for one yard in the first quarter, but he broke out in the second quarter. His performance in the game’s second period included a touchdown where Shady bounced to the outside and tore up field with an agile horizontal cut that left the Giants secondary frozen.

The Birds’ premiere back finished the day with 128 yards on 24 carries and was the lone bright spot in Philadelphia’s attack. The Eagles’ have a back that teams dream of having, but he’s going to need more help from the offensive line to consistently gain a hundred yards a game.

Shady is and always has been the real deal but under AR he will never be an Elite back because his coach doesnt understand what having a balanced attack means. AR waited until the Eagles were down 14-0 to start running the ball WTF??? #7 will continue to get killed with this joke of a OL. YOU RUN THE FOOTBALL to keep defenses off balance, rest your defense and to take pressure off your QB!!! Has anyone else had enough of the AR era????? Fire Andy Reid NOW!!!!!!!!

Whats up Eaglesnation? I have said this last year and the year before that…This type of nonsense i.e. making your offensive line coach the DC??? going into the start of an NFL season with a garbage OL???? In todays game the Eagles were on the goaline twice and you have a 230lb back on the bench(Ronnie Brown) where was he??? Going for it on 4th and 1 and calling a run play to the outside???? Starting a 4th round rookie LB who shouldnt even be in the NFL??? CANT Blame #5 anymore….Fire Andy Reid and his entire staff now!!!!!

Im not happy with this teams performance in all three games but i wanna give them a little more time to gel.. there is still alot of games to be played.. im not gonna mail it in just yet.. im a true fan not a fly by night i root for the eagles when there winning or am overly critical of them for every.. thats not me at all

But the tremendously bright spot of this team and has been for awhile now and is arguably the best RB in the league, that being Lesean McCoy.. he has dazzled the past few weeks, he seems to be running at a different speed than everyone else… he is elite and the league is recognizing it but has andy reid? I see the same thing happening that happen when Bwest was here (though i feel mccoy is better than bwest was esp at this point in his career)… they seldomly gave him the ball 20 plus a game bc of fear of injury and bc of screwed philosophy. But mccoy is different. He rarely gets touched and has the ability to run between the tackles effectively and is extremely consistent… during the game i kept saying unleah McCoy, feed the man, then they started to in the 2nd quarter but that should be the gameplan from the start. With a qb like mike vick and homerun hitters on the outside you gotta have some balance in the offense. You cant honestly think that after last yr that teams will let you sit back and chuck the ball around on them for huge gains and tds all game long.. theyre gonna keep 2 safeties deep and zone of man up underneath and its frustrating trying to throw on that. So to soften them up you gotta run the ball so you can open up the pass… you have the perfect back to do that. Hes so young and hasnt even entered his prime years as a RB. Theyre wasting his talents by not utilizing him. He was torching the giants all game long then andy and marty go back to the pass… thats the definition of shooting yourself in the foot.. they would have won that game if they werent so predictable on offense. .. now with vick going down again its imperative that the establish the run early in games if they wanna have any chance to win a game at this point…

McCoy and Maclin have been the bright spots of the Offense so far (along with LT Peters)
On that 4th Down play , McCoy did make a huge mistake trying to cutback out to the right.. When you watch the highlights from a backfield view, you will see the play was designed to run behind the LT.. Peters and MAthis had a nice lane opened with the TE Sealing off from the outside McCoy to shoot thru for a crucial 1st down.. McCoy sometimes goes for th homerun play instead of just taking what’s there.. A definite mistake by him, I think he thought he gets by the Giants LB Boley out on the right side, he had a TD
but the play was designed to the left and it was there for the taking..

To JH,
What do you think of LB Matthews play.. Do you think he should be a Starter at this stage of his development.. Do you think he is an NFL Caliber player…

explain to me why you QB sneak a QB who just had concussion problems. the redzone playcalling is horrendous.

ChuckRob you are so right … that goalline sequence was absolutely PATHETIC in terms of the playcalling. You have four chances to gain a stinkin’ yard and not once in those four chances to you do anything even remotely creative. Not only that, but you seem to purposely avoid putting the ball in the hands of anyone with any talent. You QB sneak your recently concussed $100 million QB not once but twice into the teeth of a Giants defense that’s been stuffing the middle all day. Then, instead of giving the ball to Shady who’s gone OFF and can probably take it outside to the corner of the end zone in his sleep you give it to OWEN BLEEPING WILSON who wouldn’t even make another team’s NFL roster??? Listen, how about AT LEAST giving it to Ronnie Brown who you allegedly brought in to play in these short yardage situations??? Ronnie Brown has carried the ball what? Like four times all season?? Why did Reid even sign him!!!???

Man, I hate Reid. He’s just a terrible, terrible head coach.

So you guys blame the coach because dudes can’t get ANY PUSH from the
1 yd line 2x I might add..
QB sneak is the easiest play ever invented…
IMO this game was lost because the O-LINE failed down at the goal line

Where’s Chad Hall when you need him for the Red-Zone attack..
This team and organization is so over-rated and now is becoming the joke of the NFL by many observors/analysts..

You have 230lb RB Ronnie Brown standing on the side, You have 330lbs Jamal Jackson sitting on the Sideline.. .Starter Center Kelce is giving up about 30 lbs to the opposing DT’s and in short-yardage/red-zone.. why not have JJ come in or use JJ or even K Dunlap as TE’s to get more size and strength to block straight ahead for a yard or even as a lead blocker….
If you are not going to use RB Ronnie Brown in the Red-Zone, then why even bother signing him… Stupid, Stupid , Stupid…
