Sunday’s Game Meant More To The Giants Players & Coaches

I read a report by Mike Garafalo of the Newark Star Ledger about how the Giants players and coaches were celebrating in their locker room like they had won the Super Bowl. This game meant a lot to the New York Giants players and coaches.

The Giants wanted that game on Sunday more than the Eagles. They had been getting laughed at all off season because of the way the Birds had come back and beaten them a year ago in that Miracle Number Two in the Meadowlands.

Every time the Giants players and coaches thought about the 2010 season, their minds went to the loss to the Eagles. They could see DeSean Jackson returning that punt for a touchdown again and again. It made them have nightmares.

When they closed their eyes, New York players could see their head coach Tom Coughlin ripping off his headset and throwing his game plan on the ground.

They couldn’t turn on their HD televisions without seeing a replay of that entire game or replays of the Jackson punt return. They were tortured with that game all off season and I’m sure it angered them every time they thought about it.

They walked on the field with anger deep down inside. This was just another game for the Eagles against a team which they thought they were much more talented than. The Giants were playing against a team that had haunted them all off season.

This wasn’t just a game for New York’s players and coaches, this was personal. Football must be played with emotion. If one team plays with emotion and the other team doesn’t, the emotional team will probably win the football game.

Need I say which team was the most emotional on Sunday when the Eagles played the Giants.

G,
Of all the commentators out there. I both enjoy and respect your Sports opinion the most not only because you played the sport but you are always on point and honest. I always look forward to hearing your perspective on this team both on tv and on 610wip radio on Mondays. Keep up the good work!! P.S. It would be great to have someone like you as our Coach :o)

This is true and this is inexcusable ..
It’s the Eagles Home Opener on what is supposed to be a serious Championship run by the Eagles for the 2011 Season, You just came off a NAtional Games of the week vs the Falcons where your QB gets knocked out and you blow a 4th Qurter lead to lose the game… Ooh and to top it off, you are playing and NFC East Rival who will most likely be your toughest competition in winning the NFC East Crown to secure a Playoff Spot..
No excuses, this performance is a poor reflection on the Head Coach if you ask me and I had the same vibe about this team as i did the week leading into the Vikings game last season where the EAgles were feeling a little full of themselves and their opponent was coming in wounded and most observors gave the VIkings or Giants very little chance to win… But what is going on with this Eagle Team at Home.. this is the 4th Loss in a row at the Linc.. Are players and Coaches too comfortable playing at home, is there too much free-time allowed leading up to the games played at the Linc..I’ve noticed and have stated that the Eagles as a team seem to lack the energy that they used to have.. Again, It all comes from the Top in my opinion and right now, Coach AR is panicking and hitting a lot of buttons about player personne issues, game plans and important calls that happen through-out a game, game management issues and right now, he is pushing a lot of the wrong buttons if you ask me..
